The last time the Miami Dolphins won a playoff game was December 30, 2000. It was a Wild Card game against the Colts. Almost 10 years ago. Think about that. That is a long freaking time! Jay Fiedler was our QB. Jason Taylor had 14.5 sacks that season. And Oronde Gadsden was our leading receiver. Not a single player from that team is currently on our roster.
Is this the year we not only make the playoffs but actually win and advance?
What do you guys think?

I think yes. This year. If we can win the division then we will get that monkey off our back.

Who knows, first things first though, we have to see what we have in the youngsters on Defense, if Nolan is as advertised then we should kill that monkey this year.
Sparano is soo secretive though, it is tough to have a read on the team until the games really start in mid September.RickyBobby, Larryfinfan, Tin Indian and 3 others like this. -

Beat the Jags tomorrow night, then go from there, 1 game at a time.

absolutely yes .... i believe we make the playoffs and win at least 1 playoff game THIS year -- barring some catostrophic injury ... even in that situation, the regime has done and will continue to bring in insurance policies (all we have left is OLB & S) ....

Such a long draught without playoff wins in the last decade after being a lock for the playoffs damn near every year in the 90s.
A key to January success is how the team can finish. Finish close games. Finish 4th quarter comebacks. Finish defensive stands. Finish in December in cold weather. Finish through all 16 games with consistency. Go into the playoffs on a roll, not on life support.RickyBobby likes this. -

I have been thinking about that myself. I'd like to think it's this year, but it will take a lot to convince me. It's been a long dry spell and I am a bit cynical at this point.

Another slow start will kill them this year. Their schedule is tough again. They really need to take the opener IMO to have a chance at a season that would top 08. That will be the 'weakest' opponent they have for probably several weeks.

We've had a lot happen since then, but it seems we've always been behind the 8 ball. Sometimes because of injury, lack of talent, tough schedule, whatever...bottom line is we haven't made it....There are certainly signs that it's changing, but I'm sure that Sparano will feel the heat if this years' team doesn't at least show something with the improved talent....
BTW, a lot of the reasons we've been so bad goes back to bad, bad personnel moves by Wanny....when you look around and there are none of his draft picks and FAs that made an impact....that's sad.... -
I got married a year after that...time has gone by so fast for me now with 2 kids, one in 1st grade and one in 2nd...

And the worst part? We needed Lamar Smith to play the game of his LIFE in order to win that game against the Colts. I believe he had 200+ yds if i recall.
Anyway, we're moving in the right direction. That's about all you can hope for in todays NFL. Some teams stay stuck in the dweller for years.TheMageGandalf likes this. -
One of the greatest experiences of my life. Just an amazing game to experience in person. -
we will contend in 2010
then dominate for a decade -
Itll be tough but i think we certainly have the capability to do it this year, unlike past years.

Looking back at the Wanna years and how he would ride a RB to death gives me a much better understanding on why RW quit.
