Lots of talk about the incredible depth of this years wide receiver draft class. (Maybe even slowed down the free agent Wideout market)

In just the last two drafts. The 2nd round has produced stud receivers AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, Chase Claypool, Tee Higgins and Deebo. (Pretty high hit rate)

Let’s assume Chase, Smith, Waddle and Bateman are 1st rounders...

1)Which guy not talked about in that top tier, do you think is going to hit big and be a steal!?

2) Would you be OK with doubling up on Pass catchers with early picks (Like OT last year) given Parker, Preston, Fuller and Wilson are all free agents next year?

A lot of interesting candidates;
(I know a couple could end up 1st round picks)

Kadarius Toney - Florida
Tutu Atwell - Louisville
Rondalee Moore - Purdue
Terrace Marshall -LSU
Dyami Brown UNC
Amari Rogers -Clemson
Amon-Ra St.Brown -USC
Elijah Moore - Miss
Tylan Wallace - Okla state
D’Wayne Eskridge -W.Mich

I don't think that the Fins have a whole lot of freedom and opprotunity to really look in that direction, unless they trade for more picks. After #50 in the 2nd round, all we have is #82, #157, and two 7th rounders.

I personally badly want a RB at #36, and would like to see a center, or perhaps a defender at #50. So unless we take a WR at #82, it might not be in the cards.

I think once we address WR/TE at 6, we need to find a pass rusher, C and RB. A 4th or 5th WR seems like a luxury even though Fuller is only on a one year deal and Parker can’t be trusted to stay healthy.

Parker, Fuller, Williams and Wilson... none of them can be trusted to stay healthy. And all are on 1 year deals.
Still possible Grant and/or Wilson could be cut too.

Guess I’m searchin for any excuse to end up with Dyami Brown or Elijah Moore!
Those are the 2 I think people are going to look back and say were really underdrafted.

Moore averaged 11 catches for 149 yards and 1TD last year. PER game! I watched some of his pro day and he moved so fluidly and was smooth catching the ball. Made it look too easy!

Watched a couple UNC games last year and Brown always stood out as explosive. Then you see numbers to back it up like 50+ catches and averaging over 20 yards per catch. Only player to ever do that twice as an underclassmen.

I'm crossing my fingers for Pitts at #6, and then expecting that the team will likely look for other long term depth a year from now.

Those are the 2 I think could have an instant impact.

The cool thing, for once, is we have a good young team and there’s so many ways we can go to get this team to the next level. I wouldn’t at all be disappointed if we took a WR at 36, 50 or 81. We also have that extra 3rd next year depending on who comes back.

I’m of the opinion that we add pieces to our offense to help Tua but add 1-2 pieces on defense to go from very good to elite/great.

Some would say that our depth at WR is a strength of this team:

Williams part was funny.
He is the tallest receiver on the team. ‘Some people say he is a stud and others say he sucks... whatever.’

Personally, I'd say we have an excellent WR room. Williams, Gisecki and Parker can catch anything in tight coverage. Grant and Wilson are electric and can't be covered 1:1. Then we have a bunch of really solid role players that run pretty crisp routes and catch the ball. We have a really good WR group...

...but they just can't stay on the field. We ended the season with starting Gisecki, Ford, Hollins and converted quarterbacks, just because all that great talent we have couldn't stay healthy. Look at 2019- same story. 2018- pretty much, the exact same story again. Grant, Parker and Wilson miss time every single season. Williams is also 0/2 in completing a season, missing a chunk of time both years. And Will Fuller, who I know next to nothing about, hasn't played 16 games in a season recently either.

My thinking is that we can't have incredible depth at WR because you just can't afford all of them once their contracts catch up with the team, but I'd let Parker walk and probably Grant too. That pains me to say because Grant is one of my favorite current Dolphins, he really is, but the man just isn't reliable enough outside of special teams.

Personally, I'm high on Chase since he's a stud on film and has an NFL comp as "a bigger, faster, stronger Jarvis Landry." But where does he fit? Do you finally end the Parker experiment for him? Do you hang Fuller out to dry before he even takes a snap in Miami? That's why I see Sewell or Parsons as the logical #6 pick, they fit somewhere as an instant upgrade. On paper, those rookie WRs are probably better...but they're not overwhelmingly better like comparing Pitts to Gisecki.

It really is a tough call, but I don't think the franchise sees it the same way as most of the folks here do. Because it's not about what we see...that doesn't matter at all. It all comes down to what our front office sees.

No, it's a guy I ran across the other day on YT. I was wondering if he's lurking on this forum, as well. And I don't disagree with him, but I still want either Pitts or a stud WR1 to pair with Fuller and Parker. Both of them seem more like WR2 to me.

Just curious, but did you omit Fuller intentionally? He takes the talent in our WR room up significantly.

I did because I can't comment on him directly as a Dolphin. He certainly has the talent...I agree with you.

I think that this is an Inception question because it is a question within a question.

Are we looking for boundary guys or slot guys?

Looking at our current boundary guys - Fuller and Parker - and I think to myself, "I do not really think these two guys have a lot of the front office's confidence in them. I very much think that Grier sees them year-to-year."

Fuller is literally on a one year deal.

Parker is getting reasonable money. He is undoubtedly our best WR, but I get the feeling that Grier would gladly replace him if given the opportunity. I tend to think that Parker has benefited from our best, reliable option.

I could see scenarios where Parker and Fuller are both back next year, one of the two are back next year, or neither are back next year.

I think if the pick is Pitts, we should be eying boundary corners to shore up the position.

Now, if Chase is the pick, I'd think that we are gonna be alright at boundary for the next two seasons. I think at that point, we are looking to shore up the slot.

I see Toney as a guy who would really work well with Tua, but I have a feeling he is not making it out of the first round.

If we take a WR or Pitts with our first pick we are good. Fuller, Williams, Parker, Grant, Wilson, Hurns, Bowden Gesicki, Foster, and Hollins are all still signed this year. I think Parker, Fuller, Williams, Gesicki, our first pick plus either Wilson, Grant or Hurns is a damn good core. Just need a little line help and a great RB.

The Dolphins are the softest team in the NFL. Tua hater starting 12/11/22.

I think we're taking Harris at #18 so I personally won't be thinking RB at 36 or 50. I will be thinking about BPA (S, DL/Edge, C, and.. QB)

Honestly, I do not think they are. If they do take a RB at #18 it will be after a trade down. Just going by how the draft went last year, they do try to get value for the pick. I honestly think Miami is going to take a DE/OLB or another playmaker at #18, and then take it a RB at #36. Mostly because #36 is playing with house money.

That’s what I want to happen. I just don’t like taking RB’s in the first round. My ideal scenario would be WR/TE, OLB/DE and then BPA between WR, OT, RB, C with 36.

I like Toney too. Gets separation with such ease and generates big plays from the slot. Think he would be good in the return game as well.

No consistency in where he gets mocked. Anywhere from 20 overall to the 3rd round.

I think my brother told me Toney is projected at 26 overall? I've watched Florida for a few seasons now and Toney is sensational. He was a high school QB and throws the ball well, and he runs with a Barry Sanders type skill-set weaving in and out of traffic. He can play almost any skill position on offense and brings a ton of versatility- I'm personally surprised that he's not considered in that top elite category with Smith, Chase and Waddle.

I've said for a few months now that Toney would be high on my list for receiver, but a few months ago he was being projected in the 2nd/3rd round (so was Trask, for that matter...he also might go late 1st now). I've been hoping all along that we ended up with Pitts, Toney and then Trask as a project QB, but it no longer feels realistic given how the boards are shaking out.

Don't sleep on Toney though, he's a sensational playmaker and a big part of Trask's incredible year.

I think your brother is about right in his guess at 26.

Can't pass on a big every down big back. Think Derrick Henry.. or Ricky Williams.. Nice skill players to have, takes a lot of heat off of the QB and his receivers if they have to stack the box to stop this big boy. Typically I agree with you(No RBs in 1st,) but I think this is a bargain pick in a position we haven't been good in in awhile and would take some of the pressure off our young QB. Especially since it's likely he could if not start right away, get a good amount of reps as a rookie.

I’d rather draft someone who can get to the QB or protect the QB at 18. Especially knowing we’re likely going playmaker at 6.
