I have to admit, I have followed other teams so little this offseason that I don;t really know who the teams are with new head coaches, nor who they are.

I think we did the best we could, considering Philbin would not hire coaches from the Packers.

 

Indy, then Oakland because their head coach is a young rising star, then StL, then Miami, with the remaining bringing up the rear.

 

I didn't vote for ours, because it'd be viewed as a homer pick, and I have little justification beyond that (not that I think they aren't very good coaches, just hard to rank given what we know from all parties).

I picked the Raiders (but it was close) because I think they're going to do some great things there in the next few years (assuming the QB position settles one way or another).

I would say Indy, Miami, then Oakland. I like what all 3 did.

 

My vote for Miami was hopefully more belief in what I believe our HC/OC/DC are capable of than just being a homer vote. I must admit though several of the other teams I really didn't know much about one or two of the 3 key spots. I do actually think I prefer Philbin over Jeff Fisher, as much as I respect him SF hasn't really taken his team (Titans) very deep into the playoffs very often for as long as he was there. He did make the SB once but lost it, otherwise I feel his record was somewhat mediocre from an overall viewpoint.

Interesting Fisher/Rams haven't received 1 vote, wonder how much of that is revenge for him choosing St. Louis over Miami. Sure seemed like a LOT of posters here were very keen on Fisher before he shunned us for the Rams, including me.

The jury will remain out on Philbin for at least 3 years IMHO, but a lot of that is going to depend on how well Ireland performs for those years too. In fact I think this poll might have been even better had it included GM's, although those names I would not know more than a very few.

Miami
Indy
Tampa

 

I give a slight edge to Indy because they have the guy I wanted as HC and an OC I've liked for a long time.

They'll also look better than they actually are due to their QB.

I love Dan Campbell, I like Sherman, I like zac, don't know how I feel about the rest at this point.

 

I think Luck is a transcendent player, his leadership will allow a monkey to coach and win..

 

This. Until proven otherwise that is. Of Miami's three, the only one I have concerns about going into the season is Kevin Coyle, mostly because he's never been a DC before. He's been in Cincinnati as a DB coach for so long, I wonder if there's a reason Marvin Lewis never promoted him...

I knew it was Mike Zimmer..bad attempt at humor on my part.

 

I picked Miami because I'm a homer. And because I don't know much about a lot of other coaches on the list. Fisher seems to be doing a good job in St. Louis so far. But his upside is limited, IMHO. Just can't picture him ever winning a superbowl. Romeo Crennel did good in relief last year, but I just can't shake the image of him as Browns coach looking completely lost on the sidelines or jumping up and down like an idiot whenever anything good happened almost as if he couldn't believe it.

 

I would have to say St. Louis since they have a veteran Head Coach. In the end a lot of it is going to depend on the players they have. But just looking at staffs Miami has to be considered right up there. With a rookie Qb, and a lack of a top Wr to help him and a rookie RT, I'd have to say it puts Miami's staff a step behind the top.

 

Word is Blake Williams, Greg's son, will be the DC in St. Louis.

I'm tempted to pick KC just because I really like Crennel as a DC. :lol:

Agree on Indy then Miami though. JAX isn't bad either.

 

I am not liking Coyle right now. Especially when I saw his reactions in the booth last night during Hard Knocks.

Still am miffed that for whatever reason they let Nolan leave and have changed the scheme, yet again.

Defense needed pieces, not an overhaul. Now we need more pieces than we did before had we kept Nolan.

 

Indy's group was my only other choice, I think they will do a great job there.
