...that is actually feasible?

But seriously, at this point I'm not sure. I had been hoping for Kubiak to end up here, but the Texans are keeping him at least one more. I don't really know of any "names" that are hitting the open market, or of an up and comer who might take the job.
We may end up looking to the college or UFL ranks when all is said and done. -
Al Saunders, John Ramsdell. I’d also like Josh McDaniels but I suppose he isn’t “feasible” in the strict sense of the word, since Marshall and Nolan would probably mutiny.

What about Jim Zorn? He's currently a QB coach with the Ravens. Guy has had some success developing QBs, nothing spectacular, but frankly I don't think we are going to get "spectacular" with what seems to be on the table. I'd still think it may be best to look other than the NFL and pick someone doing good and interesting things at the college/UFL levels.

Might be ok with Karl Dorrell as well.
If Brian Schottenheimer were to get let go, I would be ok with him too.djphinfan likes this. -

I think that at this point the reasonable choice is David Lee..... if they're stupid enough to keep Sparano, give him an extension and let him extort more power over personnel decisions as well, then Lee makes perfect sense.
If you're gonna blow it up, then ****ing blow it up. -

Zorn is a disaster. If you want to raid the Ravens staff, hire Al Saunders, who’s currently employed as an “offensive consultant.” I bet he’d jump at the chance to be an OC again. -
The one thing I would be leary of though is getting a guy who may be getting near the top of the head coaching candidate heap. I don't think it would help us long term to have a coaching carousel at OC. Though I'd rather have a short shot of glory in a guy like Carmichael than more of the same with Lee.
FFG makes an interesting point, maybe we could offer the "assistant" title and OC job as a lure.Finfangirl likes this. -

AL Saunders would be a good choice for OC. Main thing you're going to want is an OC that can develop a dominant running game since its highly unlikely that we're going to get the next Peyton Manning that would allow us to become a pass first offensePandarilla likes this. -
Serious question. With Sparano being lead dog does it really matter? Everything filters down and unless TS has a major overhaul in offensive thinking himself we are going no where!

You guys got to start thinking up and coming positional coaches. Can't use existing OC's as they cannot make a lateral move (no matter what assistant tag you give them). So scour WR/OL/TE/RB coaches etc and check into their backgrounds. If they don't go for a re-tread then most likely this is where a hire will come from.

Everyone says its crazy...but the guy I think would be amazing is Chad Pennington. Genious smarts, photographic memory, this guy would never be outcoached
-
Pennington needs to seriously look at coaching, his shoulder just isn't going to let him play anymore. If he were to coach, he needs to start as something more like Qb Coach before taking over as an OC. Walk before you run.

The only one I like, who is available, is McDaniel. I have read that we do have interest BUT, we see how those things are working out this past week. LOL

This will be unpopular to say, because I know that a change at OC is needed, but how much of this offensive mess is really Henning's fault? Usually on Friday morning the HC has an offensive meeting with all of his offensive coaches and the OC presents the plan for Sunday's game. This plan is what the HC has instructed the OC to do earlier in the week. Since the OC works under the direction of the HC, and only does what the HC wants - who should really get the axe here?
Sporano is nothing more than another an inexperienced Parcells robot, (like David Lee and Jeff Ireland) now without Parcells and his "on the job training". When you are the HC and keep agreeing with the offense schemes laid out before you is the OC really to blame? Personally, I would fire both of them. But then again, we have Ross, who was dumb enough to agree with the Parcells arrangement in the first place.
I think this whole Parcells experiment needs to end. -

This position is waaaay over his head. maybe inexperienced was a bad word to use - inept might be better. We are looking at a guy who calls timeouts seconds before the two minute warning, cheers on FG's and (according to what the veteran players are saying) couldnt find his @ss with both hands. -
He has been coaching since 1984 and of those years 4 of them were in Dallas. Of those 4 years, 3 of those were with Parcells. -
Next OC should fulfill this criteria:
- History of developing QBs.
I am not thrilled at all with the veteran FA stopgap QBs that might be available. They all seem to be little more Trent Green (way past their prime) than they are Chad Pennington. The best bet at QB for 2011 is finding an OC who can coach up Henne or Thigpen to become the 2011 stopgap while a rookie QB develops. If we can select a rookie at 15 or who can come right away, then great.
- Rhythm playcaller
Unfortunately, Henning didn't give a **** about playcalling rhythm. The dolphins need a coordinator who cares about starting the game with a rhythm. Get the skill position players confidence up.
-Some clout
If tony's instincts are to be conservative and micro manage, then he'll need a coordinator who can take ownership of the offense and be more aggressive.
I'm not against a young up and coming QB coach or position coach, but the risk there is an uncertain QB development history and the likelihood that he won't be able to break out of Tony's conservative philosophy.
Now who is that guy?gafinfan, ToddsPhins, texanphinatic and 3 others like this. -
If you want to make things up, go right ahead. -

whoever it is we better damn sure pick a guy we would be happy with to step up as interem hc should things wrong this coming season.tony is on a very short leash and i think one of the reasons he wasn't let go in the last few weeks was we had noone(except nolan) who could step in.everyone wanted henning gone so no go there, david lee had been falling out of good graces(lack of development from not one but 3 qb's needs to be fixed)aswell.and thats on both sides of the ball, other than nolan theres not one guy on that staff that i can say would do a good job as interem..not one.

Mcdaniels and Brandon Marshall together again................ dont look for this to happen. Im not saying it wouldnt work. just sayin
