Who knows what the long-term effects are, but I think VY gives us the best chance to win games now. Might be one diva too much for us, but it's worth a shot. Accuracy isn't the greatest, but the mobility adds a much-needed dimension to a stagnant offense. In the couple of good years he had with TEN, we presently have a better team to put around him than they ever did.
Who do you want to be the starting QB for 2011?

Henne by default.

I choose one of the most unlikely in Carson Palmer but a cheap price (3rd or higher) for Orton would make me happy.
But lets make it clear that I would only want to aquire one of them and let it be a fair and square competition between the new guy and Henne!
May the best Qb win -
Other: Drew Brees.
Oh, wait. You mean of the realistic options available to us because yet another regime has screwed the QB pooch. Crap. Uh. In that case, these are all terrible options, and we're better off hoping the defense can be as dominant as the 2000 Ravens and 2002 Bucs. At least then, Chad Henne will only need to post roughly a 90PR to get us to the Super Bowl.
… We're screwed.smahtaz and schmolioot like this. -
Henne, I still think he can be a great QB in this league.

Henne is still my boy. Me and Todd been camping in his back yard and play some catch with the Chadster sometimes when he comes home from the player practices he's been running. Those lasers are hard on an old man's hands. I may need to go to wearing them new fangled gloves that receivers where nowadays. Sore hands are ok though, since I don't practice Onanism. The Henmeister said Todd has the look of a solid scat back too. Todd could juke a fella out of his underwear, so thankfully I never wear any.
Yup, I'm still sticking with Captain Chad of the 82nd Airborne till he proves himself unable. -

I want Henne starting but Hasselbeck is probably to only QB I'd want here in a fair competition. I'm biased because he's my favorite QB for some reason.

Kyle Orton, pay the cost and acquire the best Qb on the market and call it "done".
Then Henne, he will have a leg up on the offense, is actually a decent qb, and heck, the little squid even grew his hair back!
Young simply because he is probably the best pure passer this offseason, like mobile qb's and KB's head would implode like a Dwarf Star finally going full on black hole.smahtaz likes this. -
If we acquire one of these guys, my choice would be Orton or Palmer.
Padre, you just mentioned that Orton is the best out there, but your pushing for Young???
LOL -
All I'd ask about the guy is watch the Video, or at least most of it, of his play in 2010 and decide for oneself.
I happen to think Orton is more plug and play/very few questions about how he will play if we traded for him. -

Bringing up Brady Quinn, but not JaMarcus Russell. Seriously .......
Lol I found like 22 realistic options, so I just wanted to make it an even 25.
You do have a valid point, but my only argument against it is that he's more than likely (finally) stepping up as a leader because he knows he's on the hotseat.
I think I hold the mainstream feeling that there should at least be competition. If Henne wins, that's great, if not, that's too bad. My only hope is that they don't bring in someone like Patrick Ramsey and then have the audacity to call it a quarterback competition.
This is a business. If you don't deliver, you're gone. I'd deliver that slap to the face with my own hand. Chad Henne isn't some philanthropist out there giving his heart and soul for the sake of others. He's heading into his contract year, trying to save his own skin after three years in the league and not a lot to show for it. It's about time he took the bull by the horns a little more, but regardless he has to accept that it might be too late, that he may have already had his chance and he may have already tipped his hand as to what kind of quarterback he will (or will not) become. I'm not going to award the guy medals for finally fighting to save his career only as he's heading into a contract year. What happens, happens. If it's him that starts the season, hurray for him. If not, who cares.

As I mentioned above, I agree with you (although I wouldn't slap Chad lol), but I was wondering who you voted for (if you voted).
I haven't posted in the main forum in a while, so I may have missed your rallying for a specific QB, but I recall you having some pretty valid, in-depth draft analyzations. I'm interested to know who you'd like to see at QB.
Who do I want? I thought I wanted Palmer or Orton. However, I think Hasselbeck is the smartest and with Long at LT could be a great pick up. I just see so much Pennington in the guy. When I say that, I mean he could come in right away, have buy in from players, pick up the offense, and run with it.
Who do I believe will start? Chad Henne. As the lockout continues to move forward, he's hands down the safest bet for this team and the success of the 2011 season.
lol there are quite a bit of options aren't there
Brett Favre.

Lol I was so close to throwing him in there, but I wasn't in the mood to deal with the :crapstrom:
Just because there is pressure on Chad doesn't mean he is only stepping up is leadership because of his contract. He knows the expectations, and he is walking the walk right now. I don't see any other options out there who would give us a better chance to win right away. Maybe Kolb, Orton, Palmer, or Hasselbeck could be better options, but it would take some time to get them ready. Time is something we don't have a lot of. Pennington was able to step in and work well with our team in 2008, but we lost our first two games and had a much better offensive line and running game than we do now. Henne isn't to the point where he is a proven failure. There are still people who believe he can progress further ala Drew Brees. He's better than Mark Sanchez IMO, and Sanchez has a better offensive line, a better defense to bail him out, and a better running game. Henne isn't really that far from being considered pretty good. The change in offensive scheme and personnel alone could be enough to improve his numbers into the level tier of QBs in the NFL. I could see him having as good of a year as Matt Ryan this year.

How about Matt Ryan? Whoops.
Joe Flacco? Whoops again.
Blaine Gabbert/Ryan Mallett? No siree.
We really needed centers, guards and defensive ends. Can't be concerned with fluff positions like QB.

let me ask this question guys Why is everyone so high on orton he was labled the worst qb in the league two years ago in fact he made Beck look good I would rather have Damon Huard back then Orton. i say it would be good to cut thigpin and bring in two qbs and get the competition going.
here are my choices for qb
#1 Kevin Kolb i like this guy even though i dont know why
#2 Donnovan McNabb this poor guy got the shaft , first he had no weapons at either place he's been to
#3 Vince Young he is one hell of a athlete when his head is on straight.
In all seriousness, the QB next year should be Henne.
This isn't an endorsement. I don't think he's any good, but if this regime believes in him (for whatever reason) then they ought to sink or swim with him. If he proves them right, then great. If not, they should all be shown the door.
This regime made their bed, now it's time to sleep in it.

I guess I'm just a disciple for now. I'll have to start taking notes before I'm ready to handle The Schwartz!

They didn't draft a QB at all in the last draft.
We'll see what they do in free agency/trades, but based on everything Sparano has said, it seems like they like him to me.
The Force is strong with this one.
Same here, every..single..offseason...it is also the reason why I'm not in favor of a "bridge" type of Veteran, can we just fix this issue and be done with it?
That is why I like Orton more then most do, and if I had draft picks I'd be willing to pay them for his services.
I'd rather take a solid Starting Qb who is not physically limited then roll the dice in the Draft and wait the 3 yrs for a judgment on their play to be made, Draft Chats are fun and all that, but nail down the need by whatever means neccessary ala Ron Wolf.

I voted other, thinking we might get Matt Flynn. I am not interested in getting one of the OLD guys out there to guide our team. If we are going to TRY someone else, let it be a younger one. Orton would be OK if we brought in 2 new guys to compete with Henne. Although there is WAAAAAY to much baggage to put everything on him, VY is the only one out there that I believe would increase the number in the WIN column for us, right off the bat.
Quinn gives 110 out there all the time and he still sucks. The guy is just a twit.
Russell doesn't try but if he did care about football he might be halfway decent.
Sure they are both horrible options but Russell at least had the potential.... Brady Quinn is just an all around terrible QB.

Well in that case, what about Jimmy Clausen instead? Surely, he'd be available too.
(How's that, Pad?)

Thing with Orton:
21 Td's 12 int's
20 Td's 9 int's 3,600 yds
Would you be fine with a Dolphins Qb producing those numbers?
I would, he can get better as well.
Not bad, but what you also have to do is dare to suggest trading a draft choice for a Qb, THAT combined with a marginal Qb will send people into a frenzy.
Titans have 10 days after the new season begins to trade VY, if they don't they will owe him 4.5 million, which they won't pay, so he will be waived and a FA AFAIK 5 or 6 yrs of service means no waiver claims?
BUT if a team claims him, they then owe him 4.5 million and a 8 million dollar salary which is why NFL media types think he will clear waivers and then become a FA.
Guest
Well it goes without saying that Clausen would take at least a low-2 or high-3rd round pick, but it'd be worth it.
He comes from the pro-style offense, he has accuracy and arm strength, he was in the US Army Bowl and Mel Kiper says he's going to be good... so instead of wasting money on a gimmick QB like Young or sticking with a guy who wouldn't crack the Frankfurt Galaxy (Hiney), I say we take the sure thing: Clausen.
If we don't have Clausen, we're never going to beat Tom Brady. Period.
