I always thought this guy was an overachiever here, and that is what we all wanted in our players, right?
Contrary to popular belief, Brian Hartline ran a 4.49 forty time at his pro day, in the 4.5's everywhere else. That is fast enough when you combine his 6'2 frame to go with it. He can jump up and get passes better than the shorter WRs.
He was a rookie last year for cryin' out loud...
Hartline has shown great progression since he was drafted in his couple of handful of games. I really think he could stick here for a long time.
I have to agree with the FO when they passed on Randy Moss. I would have been happy if we got him, but I was not as high on it as some others were.

His 4.49 doesnt help him catch the ball or beat #1 CBs that he's facing at times while Brandon is doubled IIRC.
He simply is not consistently good enough right now to be a reliable and effective #2. He would serve us just fine as a #4 (while he develops) where there's much less pressure on him to perform.jetssuck and Pandarilla like this. -
He regressed this year and is just not reliable. He obviously let off the field problems (truck incident, talking about getting a divorce on twitter)effect his game.

Aside from what was mentioned, the addition that would have relegated him to being a 4th receiver is Hall of Fame bound and would add an element of fear to the offense that would open up opportunities for other players...namely Bess and Hartline (in 4 receiver sets). Imo, that is another caveat to consider when you see the Hartline bashing on the forum recently.

Mostly because he acts like he has this

His YAC yards have disappeared
He disappears for a game at time.
He drops to many passes
His fumble in the Steelers game looked Ginnish
Hartline was tearing the NFL up last yr, what happened to him?
I thought with Beast across from him he would have a huge year, instead he is mediocre, like a BK knock off McMuffin.FinSane, HULKFish, resnor and 1 other person like this. -

You know now the theme for the rest of the season will be Hartline bashing and lots of *****ing because we didn't go after Moss the douche.Ophinerated likes this. -
How about if fans say "I'm developing my finances so I'm going to pay half price for my ticket, if you perform, I'll pay off the balance"? -
Hartline has to justify that confidence in him not by having 200 yd/3 TD's days, those however would be nice, but by making the plays he is supposed to make.Ophinerated likes this. -
Just ask Brandon Marshall.
Another reason I didn't want Moss. Yeah sad but it is true.
The other reason I wanted no part of Moss is because he is a crybaby headcase.
I'll stick to watching Hartline come around.Destroyer likes this. -
Brian Hartline is no different than any other young players we have on our team. They're a work in progress and will have moments of domination, and their WTF moments. I like Hartline and think he is much better than his inconsistent self that he's been this season. Fans in general are pretty dumb. People ignore inexperience and want to move on to the next player as soon as they see struggle. You have to have patience and remember it's a process for these young guys.

Honestly, Brian is my favorite player, hell I even bought a customized jersey of his. While I do think he has not played as well this year but you can't deny that if he did not make those two plays on that game winning drive we could be 3 and 4 in the league.
Plus he is only in his second year, how many times have we used the it will take time to develop excuse on Henne.
Hartline will improve and now that I look back on it Moss might have helped his career. Moss and Marshall would have been covered by top db's leaving Bess and Hartline covered by less stellar DB's and would be getting more balls thrown their way. -

I'd like to see you go on the field right now and play good, or no great by your standards. Just like when you try a new sport or hobby it will take time to learn, chances are you won't be great immediately. -
Man, it's always the few ruining it for the rest of us! :tongue2:Rocky Raccoon likes this. -

He could be a Kevin Walter or James Jones level player. Great number 3 but I don't see him cracking a solid rotation of 1 and 2.

Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?
I don't think it's necessarily a lack of faith in Hartline... We had the opportunity to potentially upgrade our entire WR corps with one move... Hartline included... ...and the FO chose not to do it.

Because he is white? :escape:

I'm patient. Hartline made some plays against the Bengals.
If you happen to be Henning you keep doing that BTW -
I do, however, very much like how Henning came right back to Hartline after his drop to show him that he has confidence in him. :wink2: -
I don't think it's Hartline at all. He's young and productive, and he'll definitely continue to get better.
I think the true problem is some fans and a few journalists looking for any little thing to complain about...like a second year guy dropping a couple passes over the middle last week. That automatically makes him horrible to some, but I know it's not true...you know it's not true....and so does the coaching staff. Don't read too much into the complaints. -
It's funny...Ginn had a decent rookie year. His second year, people rode him really hard...I don't recall many people saying that he should get time to develop. LOL. I think Padre is playing you all for fools right now...
