I started this thread because it clicked to me that I don't remember how I got to this site in the first place.
I remember getting kicked out of the CBS Sports forum site for posting too many Dolphins related articles, videos, etc. They wanted to only talk Dolphins based off previous memories not anything new. If it was something new, then you would talk about it as if it was something a few weeks old or whatever.
I did a search for "Miami Dolphins chat rooms" and got a few sites I didn't recognize. Then I saw thephins.com and looked inside. The love for the Dolphins was contagious and it was like a family here--a true family though. Y'all be arguing and debating about any and everything...just like brothers and sisters would. It felt like home. So I signed up. That was 7 years ago. As they say, the rest is history...
I'm a person who shares my excitement about the Dolphins differently than most on this site. I'm also more optimistic about the Dolphins than some here...even to the point of those looking from the outside looking in as ignoring reality. What I mean is that I believe every year we going to win the Super Bowl even though we haven't won it since 1973. But when the season starts, I have a belief deep inside me that thinks there is always a chance until it is officially over and we are eliminated from playoff contention. Then I'm looking at the draft in anticipation of the next year being better than the last was. Each year I'm disappointed but I'm right back at it again the next year thinking we are going to win it all.
So I'm on this site to share my passion for the Dolphins. I enjoy talking about them and sharing my thoughts about them. I post articles, video, etc. just get a conversation, discussion, or debate started. I try to set it up for y'all just to get things going when it seems quiet in here. Plus when I get excited about something like breaking news or whatever, I got to share it so y'all will know about it.
Like I said I love this place and I love chatting with y'all. I'm extremely excited for this season for the Dolphins. I could practically see Ryan Tannehill lifting up the Lombardi trophy.
Ok I'm done talking here. As always I welcome your thoughts and comments on what I said.
Go Dolphins!!

I like posting because I learn so much from folks on this board. That and I get to pump up my team, even if to other Dolphins fans (and our fair share of critics). I know WAY more of the goings-on with the team today than I did before I joined ThePhins.com. I was on FookHead.com before (you know who I mean), but there's just so many childish morons there, I had to look elsewhere, and that's when I found this site.
Funny/true story...Muck banned me from FH several years ago, for going off on Rick1966, I wanna say, about 2013? I think I said something to the effect of, "hell with it, if you got any balls, ban me," and he did :)
Then I pretty much stayed away from forums for a LONG time, had a bunch of other stuff going on in my life that prevented me from immersing in all things Dolphins. I've calmed down a LOT since then (Rick's easier to deal with now too, probably because I chilled out).
Anyway, I consider this place my 2nd family...since I truly feel a brotherhood with some of the folks on here, and I cherish it. I grew up in enemy territory as a Dolphins fan (SF Bay Area...phuck the Niners), so it's great to have a group of fellow Dolphans to hang out with, even if online.number21, P h i N s A N i T y and dolfan7171 like this. -
Used to belong to FH, but got sick of the attitudes in that place. Went searching and found this forum and lurked for a little while before I signed up.
Good people in here and some very knowledgeable ones at that. Sure things get heated sometimes but that's the exception and not the rule and is bound to happen when people have strong opinions. I got no complaints.MikeHoncho, Undisputed, P h i N s A N i T y and 1 other person like this. -

Thanks man. That means a lot!! We got to win this year!!

LOL how much did you get paid to say that?

Glad folks are still enjoying the place. Thru the highs and lows of the franchise, we celebrate and suffer together. It's so rare that the team is really, truly good. This could be a special year on the forum.
If I swung the ban hammer at FH (I assume you meant 2003), I'm sure it was purely out of love.

I'm a former FH member since 2004. Got in a tiff with a Power-tripping Mod over there and he gave me the boot. Haha. Hope lightning don't strike twice.
Although I don't like to hate on Dolphin brethren, their site looks like garbage now! The forums at least.
I used to enjoy lively debates on Dolphins football with other passionate fans, but I mostly just read other views around here. I don't want to get back to my trouble-making ways.Undisputed and dolfan7171 like this. -

I started with ESPN Chat as Dol-Fan D just about 19 years ago. Got sick of people telling me the Dolphins defense sucked, which it did, so I joined HeraldTalk as the name Dol-Fan Dupree. Which is what I meant by the D, however I could see how people were confused.
HeraldTalk was 50% football and 50% bull****ting around. I can honestly say I was part of both. I am still facebook friends with a few people from HeraldTalk. RIP Sugarcane. :(
To get my football fix in I joined FinHeaven. It was a lot more regulated, so I was pretty much doing both, which is probably why my grades weren't the best in college.
Then when the breakup happened I noticed that most of the posters I enjoyed the most moved here, so I moved here as well. I wised up and only decided to participate in one forum.
I am here because I live in Seattle and it is hard to talk Dolphin football in Seattle. There are not many of us here. I also freaking love the fan reports from training camp and the good information that is in the Club. Especially the draft analysis.
Plus I get to get into stupid arguments about the team I love and the sport I am ridiculously obsessed with. I know more about football and what goes on in football than I do about software.dolfan7171 likes this. -
Well let me tell you about your postings. They're both insightful and challenging. They really make me think. Not to mention do some research. I actually enjoy them.
As far as my article posting is concerned, I'm working on improving them, to make it better for people to read then discuss. At least that is my intention. -

Where I live nobody understands why I am pissed til about Wednesday after a Dolphins Loss. Don't even think about a qualitiy discussion about Football at all or the Dolphins in particular. So it's great for me to go to the Forum and read your posts and discuss. And this season I won't be pissed that much on Mondays!!

Excellent post, the truest of true fans, I love it when a guy says "I'm a homer, and I love it, and make no excuses for it", a rarity these days, I live vicariously through guys like you, I can't help but analyze, it's in my nature with all things, but guys like you remind me of when I was not so analytical, when it was just for the pure joy of rooting.
Keeping it grounded for all us sinners out here, much respect.

When you are a fan of a team who has been mediocre for so long there is a tendency to be skeptical and negative. Not you .You always bring a positive air to the site. I think alot of us were like you....at one time .
But what goes around comes around . Its our time and we will all be like you again.........soon.:up:DOLPHAN1 and dolfan7171 like this. -

To be honest...I was confused as well about what Alex wrote....somehow I dont think he meant it at you....maybe at other Phins forums in general? -
I come from way back, the ol' FH days before things split up. I rarely ever post, but I lurk daily as many of my favorite posters are here and I learn a lot from them.

I was a member over at FH starting in 2004...then followed the posters I most enjoyed when the split happened. The atmosphere here is so dramatically different then any other place I have been part of. The depth of knowledge about the game in general, forget the Miami Dolphins, is amazing. Cant tell you how much I have learned about football since I first joined. The great thing is, its not just during football season. We go all year in here....you will be hard pressed to find a better breakdown of the draft...of potential free agents...even some info you wont even find in the Media.
Outside of work, and my family, I spend more time with my Phins family then anyone if you really count the hours. Its my respite from the bull**** life throws at you...and Ill be here until the plug gets pulled and not a day before!Unlucky 13, DOLPHAN1, dolfan7171 and 3 others like this. -
Hey I'm just being myself guys. I know since I joined in 2008, I've been attacked for what I say on the site. At the same time I was inspiring someone to keep believing in the Dolphins. That's OK with me. I'm not going to change because I can't make everyone happy.
Even though this is off subject, I have a strong faith in God but I don't believe in bashing people over their heads about it. If you want to know more just talk to me personally. Otherwise I'm on this site to talk Dolphins and that's how it will always be.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program...lolPhinFan1968 likes this. -

At various points in time I've posted on both Finheaven and Phinfever. I found Finheaven to be a freaking zoo where the inmates run the aslyum and mods don't have the presence of mind to remain neutral. The worst are the post stalkers. I swear I couldn't say anything without the same 4-5 mouth breathers jumping in to pick a fight and take it off-topic.
PF is run like a tiny little fraternity with a very large echo-chamber and handful of members who live to bicker. There were times when I'd get caught up in it and I finally decided enough was enough. The internet is chalk full of strangers, but at the same time it would be nice to be respected as an adult when posting on a forum.
I've been looking for a slightly more "educated" discussion where guys can be optimistic, but not homers and others can be critical, but not "haters". So far I'm pleased, minus a few dust ups - albeit I think at times my screen name tends to attract that kind of thing. Overall, guys seem very knowledgeable around here. -
I think everyone appreciates your contributions to this point. Cheers to you and everyone else. We’re all fans for one reason or another and it’s good to see such a sizeable group of regular contributors.
That said, I think everyone would agree that we're here to learn and thus the best posts are often ones that bring new information to light in a way that expands our views and/or preconceived notions about what we’re watching. Whether it's done through insightful interviews, compelling statistical analysis or the insight of an experienced individual like CK, it's those really informative posts that make forums worthwhile and help them rise above being intellectual graffiti.
If I could get you to do one thing for this forum, I would ask that you refrain from posting links that lead directly back to MiamiDolphins.com. We all go there. We all watch those videos in our spare time—probably before coming here. Realistically, the forum doesn’t need those videos individually posted inside new threads, which as Alex pointed out, you have a habit of doing without providing any actual content that would justify why you started the thread. For the record, finding a video is not cause to start a new thread when those videos are accessible to everyone already.
I know you mean well, but that’s basically spamming the forum. It’s not that different than if I posted Dolphins highlight videos from YouTube every day. There wouldn't be any benefit in doing that because everyone already knows where and how to find them. Moreover, once the regular season gets underway there will be 15-20 new videos every week on MiamiDolphins.com: game highlights, player interviews, coach’s press conferences, Phinsiders, etc. The forum is not going to need a new thread for each one. Understandably, that could really clog the forum.
On the contrary, I think we all HIGHLY appreciate people posting articles and interviews we’re not aware of—and you have posted links to several of those. That’s exactly what good contributions are made of.
I think Alex probably speaks for a lot of people who might agree you should try and limit your thread creation to something more reasonable. When you find something, make sure it's news-worthy if you're going to create an entire thread. If not, just post regularly inside existing threads.
Please don't take offense. But do please try and appreciate what Alex was saying (although he could've been less sarcastic about it).
Cheers! -
- "I'm going to write every day for share my passion with you"
should be the word "to".
- "This year is the year. You see…"
should be "You will" or the contraction "You'll" -

Welcome Bolero! We share your passion (though not always your optimism)!
Also, if you are working on improving your English, don't imitate any of DJs posts. (JOKING!!!) -
You all impress me by remembering the names of the sites you have been on. I was on herald board for a while and that was a great place. I believe I remember dolphin Dupree from there. Been to a couple of other boards as well. This one seems the most calm and not run by one or 2 people.

You're one of my favorite posters, 7171. I know when I see your avatar, it's going to be a post that makes sense, adds something of value, and isn't going to be something attacking someone else.
I haven't been around here as long as a lot of others (this will be my 4th season), and I never was at FH, but I love the board for the variety and passion. You definately get all sides of any given story. Some are optomistic, some are relentlessly negative, and others are so annoying that I've blocked them, but we all love the Fins.
