Denver sits at #5 in the draft order, with his wild moves in the draft could Denver really risk McAdolescent making the choice to trade out of that slot to draft someone only he wanted?
The answer to that is..no, Bowlen pushes up on McAdolescent about relieving him of GM duties, McAdolescent says "nope" and out he went, Bowlen was protecting the future of the franchise.
Good luck to the interim HC, but keep in mind, Bowlen would not cry if Denver moved up 2 slots to #3 in the draft as Luck is going #1, which means the #3 pick is like the #2 pick this Draft.

His draft moves were terrible , I wouldn't let him near the personnel side of things on a team.

I fully agree that they needed someone overseeing the personnel moves there, however I was still surprised at this firing. Your going to give the car keys to a brand new HC/GM and then fire him less than two years later? How does that help the team? A team which, unlike the Vikes and Cowboys, had not quit on their coach (the prime reason for getting canned).
I thought the best move was to help establish a better scouting department and bring in some knowledgeable front office types while keeping McDaniels as the coach.

Put it this way, the Broncos finish say 4-12, do keep the keys to the car in McAdolescents' hands?
Could, or would you trust him that much with the future of the franchise?
Nope..adios McAdolescent. -
