Matt Moore after a concussion and a torn labrum, not to mention a player carried over from a prior failed regime. There was ZERO shot in hell they wouldn't look at Cam, let alone not draft him.

At some point even Moore decided he was better as a backup QB. Live in Miami, make millions every year, minimal risk of injury holding a clipboard and offering advice while watching Tanny take shot-after-shot?

If you really feel you can lead a team and be a franchise type QB, you don't keep signing contracts to be a backup. You just don't. You look around and find a place you can get a fair shot to start (the Browns are always looking for example).

Matt knows what he is and has made a nice life for himself and his family as a backup QB. No shame in that and he has a chance to rescue the season for Miami by winning a couple games.

Does Matt Moore really believe he is a better QB than Ryan? That he should be starting instead? His actions over all these years tell us, "No".

At the age of 32, the conversation about whether he's better should have died already imo. This conversation was better left for the 2012 season.

That being said, glad to see after recent comments the coaches believe in the guy and they didn't talk around it at all. In regards to his contract choices - I think you over-simply his situation a little too much.

But yet we should've rolled with him after his concussion and injury history and not have drafted Tannehill... ok. That makes sense.

I bet the Panthers look back and kick themselves. Maybe not... eh?

As the MM resident health expert when was his last concussion or injury?

My point? Matt Moore does not believe he is a better QB than Tanny, so why should I?

Or maybe he does, but understood his brain would be scrambled taking all the hits over the years -which means he would be done with football well before 2016 rolled around and Miami would be looking for a QB. Also, 32 is NOT old in the NFL for most QBs, certainly not old enough to keep a guy from being elite if he has the talent.

The backup QB often looks like the better option. I've felt that way at times when Tanny was struggling. Human nature and all that.

A terrible play call, terribly executed.

I guess Coach Gase doesnt really know much about QBs and offensive football. He knew he had a better QB on the bench who gave them a better chance to win each and every week but chose to go another direction? This is believable to some people??
I want Matt Moore to throw for 400 yds and 4 TDs when he is in there. I swear I do. I want the Dolphins to win and make the playoffs. PERIOD
How people can think he is a better option than a healthy Tannehill is mind boggling. He hasnt played in 5 years. You take what Tannehill has done in the last 8 games(7-1) and it means NOTHING? You would rather have a guy who has not played or started in years and just "know" he will "light it up" and be a gunslinger?
I wonder what Ryan Tannehill did to so many people that he gets ripped so badly. Getting better(he most clearly has) and winning games(he most clearly has) is not enough anymore?
We as fans of this team want to win. Matt Moore is our guy right now and he will have my 100% support going forward....that is until #17 is fully healthy and will return as the starter. That is a FACT. That is from our Head Coach who knows more about this particular situation than all of us combined.
Lets just win these next few games and make the playoffs. That would beat listening to all this craziness by a country mile

Since the beginning of the win streak, RT is a top 5-10 QB

* #1 NFL QB passing under pressure
* #3 passer rating
* #7 YPA
* #1 Completion %
* 3:1 TD to INT ratio

You put any other name than Tannehill next to those numbers, and you'll see people calling that an elite QB.

He did all this ahead of the normal NFL pace for learning an entirely new system with a new coaching staff (which some of us predicted before the season). Was that the NFL #2 defense he just shredded last week, during a monsoon? So let 'em rip on him...it doesn't do anything but contribute to their own misery.

Loves me some Tannehill.

According to Joe Schad, he's also the #1 passer in passes over 50 yards and #1 in RZ passing this season.

But all this should probably go into a Ryan Tannehill Appreciation Thread. Hate this injury had to happen to him.

Just hope Moore is up to the challenge in what looks to be a nasty game in Jersey.

Man you seriously have problems with reading comprehension. I said in a prior post I had no problem with us drafting another QB - even with my confidence in Moore after his strong 2012 finish.

The problem I had was bringing in Garrard to dilute the snap quality.

I will give you the summary of Moore's health as soon as you provide Tanny's most recent STD panel.

Ya it was sickening...but I believe Matt "Mad Bomber" Moore can do enough to get us a couple Ws. He's done it before, he can do it again (ya I know he hasn't played a game in 5 years, which makes me worry he may get a career ending concussion, but if he's willing to play and med staff/coaches agree...I'll just have to worry).

All division games, so you NEVER know...but I'm not too worried about the Stej...don't think we have a chance no matter who's playing in Buffalo...and don't think the Cheatriots will be an issue at The Rock.d

Edit: Don't think we have a chance at Buffalo, because Sexy Rexy has kept a job as an HC by butt-slamming us in the midst of playoff runs. If we can manage to pull out a win there, Gase should get an extension...already.

Well, you say so much, you know?

But why so touchy now? You've tripped over Moore's jock all day to set everyone on the forum straight on what was going on in Carolina 8 or 9 years ago and to sing his praises...

Garrard didn't dilute sh*t. He was injured in early August well before camp wrapped up or any PS games were played. Like with Henne, Moore had ample time to shine. You telling me now that Moore couldn't beat out a hack like Garrard?

And didn't Moore have a concussion against Dallas this past pre-season? Didn't he have a shoulder injury just a couple weeks ago?

C'mon Sock, don't stop now. You're on a roll.

Yeah... Moore is a gamer. If his head and shoulder hold up, he should be fine.

Last time we played them though Leonard Williams dry humped our OL at will. Hope our guys are buckled up this match and Matty plays well enough to help us win.

LOL there we go again with your fuzzy memory. Garrard was hurt around August 15th that year. That was well beyond all minicamp and halfway into training camp. He definitely stole snaps that should have gone to Moore and it was already discussed in here how the Philbin regime wanted to start Garrard from the beginning.

Why are we discussing any recent injuries of Moore this year? What does that have to do with anything? Im not on here championing him to take Tanny's job. That boat sailed already. Im just glad as hell he is still a Dolphin to help keep us in the hunt.

Who's memory is fuzzy? It was reported Aug 10 that he'd have surgery meaning it happened... wait for it... almost there, buddy... one more second... Early on in August... like I said. Right?

On August 10, 2012, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported that Garrard would undergo arthroscopic surgery and miss some time, including all four preseason games

Oh, and now none of this matters? You were sure as sh*t all up in arms about it earlier today. Setting everyone straight about 2007 and 2008...

Whatever.

Welcome to the club. We're ALL hoping Moore can help us win 2 of the next 3.

Well I have no choice but to support Matt Moore. I personally think he'll be fine as long he keeps it simple and doesn't have to do too much. The defense is going to definitely have to step up for us to win. I think the 2011 defense was a bit better than the current one we have. I'm honestly just going to enjoy the ride. One game at a time.

Hes top 12 now with still meat on the bone now that we finally found competence in the coaching staff to be consistently top 5 and a yearly 100 plus qbr

This isnt a fluke this isnt flash in the pan this is miami finally stopped letting the damn qb get hit before his back foot hit even and he finally was coached up on having active feet in the pocket

Speaking of that #12 ranking in passer rating this year.. I've been keeping track of how close we've gotten to what turned out to be a great predictor of making the playoffs in 2015: passer rating ranking vs. defensive ranking (by points allowed).

Here's the graph that shows the threshold one needs to cross:
https://i.imgsafe.org/206d9b281b.png

We're currently #17 in defensive ranking by points allowed, and that combination puts us just outside of that playoff threshold (which is where we are now in the wild card hunt). Never been closer this year (been tracking it whole year), but we're not quite there yet. It'll be interesting to see how well this works for 2016 once the season is over.

By the way matt moore got concussed on pretty much a glancing blow in the preseason on like the first contact he took even and his eggs were scrambled

Durability and health is definitely a concern here moreso than the norm

Just dont lose me the damn games with your play matt...seen too many instances of that with you in the past...maybe gase can flip that script by limiting the exposure

Im not a big fan of give and take qb play especially when you are doing a lot more giving than taking

Moore also averages like more than a fumble per start in his career or some crazy number that makes ball security another red flag and im not talking jail break miami dolphins o line play of the past 3 years and first 5 weeks this year but treating the pill like a hot potato

Outlandish? I described a guy who got his brains beat in for his first three seasons and still ended up playing pretty solid football.

There is no discussion of Tannehill vs Moore here. Moore is the sole subject of conversation and I was trying to educate folks on his path to where he is today. Because like it or not, he's starting Sunday and its in your best interests for him to play well. I was just trying to show why some people truly like Moore...and your flames show that the post was needed.

Wait...

You thought you could post something positive about Moore and the insecure Tanny fans wouldn't come out in bunches? Where have you been the past 4 years?

I liked Matt's style also years ago, he was nimble in the pocket and could make big plays. That being said he is that much older and that much slower than he was 7 years ago in CAR. So I'm worried.

However if we get the Jay train rolling our QB play just has to be "okay" and we have a great chance to win. When we started the win streak we were still getting some inconsistent QB play, it was normally an inconsistent half followed by a GOOD half for Ryan for 3-4 of those games, 1 bad game but he also had 3 exceptional games. So things were starting to finally come together and Ryan certainly looks like a better QB than he did the first 5 games, but then again the whole team looks better.

Do we have a better shot at 3-0 with Moore? I don't think so. But we have won games when Ryan was playing more of a game manager role before he went ape shit and just started doing everything better. So yes, I think it is entirely possible we go 2-1. Every Dolphins fan needs to be a Patriots fan this Sunday and that 2-1 may very well get us to a playoff game. Preferably @ the AFC S champ.
