do you think jones will show up? with all that money on the table i believe he will cave in. Now, i am very curious to see who folds first. i am all for the player maximizing his earning potential because teams cut players all the time even after agreeing to contracts. i never fault the player, but in this case the team holds all the cards. I want the dolphins to hold firm because he is being paid enough. I love jones as a player and its his right to hold out. I am right down the middle on this one, and just curious to see who wins this contest.

I love Jones as a player, but he is in no way underpaid and this is all just nonsense. He needs to show up. If he doesn't, then I hope he enjoys his retirement.

He'll show. Every mandatory practice he misses is a $10,000 fine

I'll be disappointed if he doesn't show up, if he wants more money, fine, but do it while you're doing your work, he's not vastly under paid, if he's under paid at all, so him holding out for that would lead me to believe he's just a problem.

If he does hold out, then he does obviously think that there is some type of injustice with his salary, and that would make him a problem, since he is getting compensated quite fairly.
I really don't think he will hold out, but if he does, he's a problem imo.dolphin25 likes this. -
He was very noncommittal when asked about holding out beyond the voluntary portion, so I'm hoping, and thinking, he'll be here when he needs to be. -
I don't understand this hold out. Jones gets paid commensurately in both salary and guaranteed money in the Safety realm. Dolphins shouldn't pay him more and there's not many teams other teams that would, so I'm not sure what he's posturing for. If he has an issue with how much elite Safeties get paid versus elite DBs or other positions (e.g. Oliver Vernon), holding out is not going to improve his situation.

He has less of a leg to stand on than chancellor did.
We didn't win all that much while he was playing, what really changes if he sits?dolphin25 likes this. -
He should cave in, because he's being ridiculous IMO.
Although, just got a message on my phone that he's extending his holdout into the mandatory mini-camp. So, he's sticking to it... -

So... the guy who wants more money, is going to hold out from mandatory activities that will cost him $76k. Seems logical...

I wonder what his value is on the open marketZzz im sure we can get a first and a third for a guy like him.

My God he has the team by the balls. Walt Aikens is the defensive equivalent to Dallas Thomas. Shamiel Gary is just a guy.
He would screw with Suh's window of opportunity if he doesn't play. Which would upset everybody. He's really playing with fire here.
Don't think safeties are expendable, either. Losing Delmas last year hurt bad...Finster likes this. -

The perception of "caving in" is arbitrary and in the eye of the beholder. We aren't privy to exactly what Reshad Jones's goals and expectations were when he engaged this "holdout" (which until today merely meant staying away from VOLUNTARY activities, please go look up the definition of that word in the dictionary if you must).
But if Armando Salguero is correct that Reshad is "highly highly highly HIGHLY unlikely" to miss any regular season games over this "holdout" then it is entirely possible that Reshad Jones merely sent the Dolphins a postcard that read:
"You don't pay me enough to risk injury at voluntary OTAs or mandatory Mini Camps. Enclosed is a check for $75,000. See you in July.
-Reshad"
And if that's the case, who "caved" and who "won"? Reshad Jones effectively reduced his chance of injury occurrence during OTAs or Mini Camps to zero. And he did it for the small price of $75,000. If he comes back for training camp, does that mean he "caved"?Pandarilla likes this. -

He should feel better being around his boys... good to see his agent Seth Norris didn't jeopardize his offseason. Sorry, Joel Segal...Saul Stallone?
