I'm coining the phrase before the threads pop up next season.

Wince for Winston is better. Very hard to go winless.
Doubt we're anywhere near that bad, but if we start 0-4 I'm in -
....Do you actually believe he will be a good NFL QB though? I actually hate him as a human being...but putting that aside and being objective.
He has decent to good arm strength but his ball wobbles a lot.
He has decent accuracy but usually throws to the body and not the hands (doesn't lead receivers)
And hearing him speak, he is dumb as a rock with no command of the English language.
On a personal level, I would never watch a Dolphin game again until he left.NJFINSFAN1, Pariah and SICK like this. -

If we are anywhere remotely close to talking Winston at any point next season I will hang myself.

He was accused of something and not charged. Maybe the police did a poor job investigating, but the State Attorney did an investigation and determined there wasn't enough evidence to convict. Perhaps he's guilty, perhaps not. But the fact remains that nobody really knows what happened and nobody ever will.
So to say you hate him for something that he may or may not have done, and wasn't even charged with is a bit ridiculous. I would hope then that you feel the same about Kobe Bryant and Ben roethlisberger, two men who actually got charged with the crime.
As to his football skills, he is incredibly accurate. Last night was the first time he was under any real pressure all year whichc aused problems early on. He was back to his usual spectacular self once he and the line adjusted to the blitzes. I'm not a guru but to me he looks like the best prospect since Luck.
As to his intelligence, I see no reason to question it. He is a country kid. He is not polished. He seems plenty football smart to me.Mainge and Fin-Omenal like this. -

I'm all for staying away from the truly bad charachter guys but you still need to field a team, and unfortunately many of the players have had issues.
And how do you know he's a rapist? -
Okay, I really...REALLY hate doing this but facts are facts. Let's look at the list of Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks and the number of Super Bowls they have won...
2011 Robert Griffin III...0
2010 Cam Cameron...0
2008 Sam Bradford...0
2007 Tim Tebow...0
2006 Troy Smith...0
2004 Matt Leinart...0
2003 Jason White...0
2002 Carson Palmer...0
2001 Eric Crouch...0
2000 Chris Weinke...0
1996 Danny Wuerffel...0
1993 Charlie Ward...0
1992 Gino Torretto
1990 Ty Detmer...0
1989 Andre Ware...0
I could keep going, but you'd have to go all the way back to the 1970 Heisman Trophy winner, Jim Plunkett before you find a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback that won a Super Bowl. Everyone here bangs the "been there, done that" drum and gets angry when the Dolphins keep doing things that don't work.
Why would we want a tried and failed history?PhinFan1968, LiferYank, NJFINSFAN1 and 1 other person like this. -
No thanks.... in college he's great but as a prospect... he's not that good and I pity the franchise that puts their franchise on his shoulders.... You might as well build around Tajh Boyd if that's the kind of quarterback you want.
Also his football wobbles a lot because he has an inverted knuckle on his ring finger from his throwing hand, and it's permanent... -
Seriously? -
-
I'm not however going to write off Winston just because he got accused of something. Lots of people get accused of things they didn't do. I'm not going to pretend I know what happened between Winston and the woman in question but I do know that the State Attorney looked at all the evidence available and determined he shouldn't be charged. -
He didn't do anything spectacular last night either....when he had time he found a couple guys on short passes. The Auburn defense Is atrocious, that hitch route on the last drive never happens against a good D.
Maybe I cant put all bias aside, however I can admit hr Is a great COLLEGE QB. I just don't think his abilities translate well at all. -
Of course we dont KNOW either way, but even thr rest of his personality tells me he is not a good human being. -
every year. same terrible idea. at least Andrew Luck was a blue-chipper.
-
I really get pissed when people say they hate Winston, he's a rapist, blah blah blah. He was accused of a crime that happened nearly a year before it was brought to anybody's attention.
An investigation was done, he's not guilty, move on with your life.
As far as wanting him on the Dolphins, I'm all for it. He's accurate, can run, and has more heart than most of our current players have combined. -
I saw some things last night from Winston that were not pretty. He got rattled big time by an Auburn defense that had been torched by SEC QBs, many of whom were thought as lesser talents than Winston.
He's got physical talent and he is still a freshman, but I don't think the overall talent is enough to warrant a "lose for Winston" type of campaign. -
-
Aside from all that, as I said, even though he is a greatcollege talent I dont see how any of his skills translate to the NFL. -
IMO Jameis Winston = Jamarcus Russell and I don't want anything to do with him.

All in all. Probably the dumbest post of the year.Mainge, NUGap, Clark Kent and 3 others like this. -
He maintains a 4.0 GPA at FSU, and was an honor student in High School.cdz12250 and Nappy Roots like this. -
He's from the Sticks of Alabama and people expect him to speak like a Harvard grad. It's disgusting that people have no leeway for cultures.
It's like someone coming from another country and 10 years later still has trouble with the language. Are they idiots too?

Lol. You comparing the two is ignorant. Literally there are 3 things that they have in common. Their big. Their black. They play QB.
Please enlighten why you compare the two. -
So I guess he's suppose to be the best public speaker in the history of public speaking after winning the National Championship in front of the entire country, at 20 years old?
Cut him some slack. -
-
I see over hyped Qb's that have talent but like Jamarcus, Winston will have a hard time translating to the NFL because I feel that he will have a hard time reading coverages. Maybe Winston develops further due to him only being a Freshman. I don't know. He might have a high GPA but football knowledge is something different.
-
Nappy, I could be wrong but that's how I feel when watching him play.

And yea, since he clearly showed in his first college season, as a freshman, that he couldn't read coverages...oh yea. I forgot, he clearly could read coverages.
