I'm not trying to start ****..but the Fins didn't have a chance to begin with. This is going to be so much fun!
Two things that jump out which cause me to question this post...First, you have Beck outperforming Favre...that might NEVER happen in any game, and thats assuming that Beck totally bucks the odds, turns his camp around and starts. That in itself in unlikely. Second, you have Brown getting more carries than Ricky in week one. I don't see it. I bet Ronnie's carries will be in single digits for the first couple of weeks. I certainly don't expect him to be used more than Ricky, not at first. After the bye week, I see Ronnie transitioning to carry the majority of the RB load, esp if Henne is starting then. But in week one, it'll be a vet (probably McCown) and Ricky.
I respect you're posts a lot man but this one is a little far out for me. I hope to god this is the result but its just too hopeful for me. We'll see though.
i love how we were a kick off return for a TD away from making you guys start out 0-8 last year...........and "we never had a chance" this season....whata joke
I think people are forgetting the opponents he faced in the NFC central compared to the ones he is going to face in the AFC east. PATRIOTS are far greater than any team in the central
But their secondary isn't. Their secondary is in shambles. Rodney Harrison is hurt half the time and when he isn't hurt he isn't the same player he once was. Counting on Ellis Hobbs as your #1 corner is a scary, scary thing. The guy blows deep pass patterns like its his job.
Ellis Hobbs is an average corner to begin with imo. If they plan on using him at the #1 spot, they're screwed. He got embarrassed by Camarillo last year and while Camarillo is a solid contributor to this team, he's not starting material.
You know, it doesn't bother me that the Jets got Favre. We could get smacked around versus them at times but are we really looking at being competitive anytime before 2010? I'm interested in seeing how Favre fairs in NY. I told this to 124 and I said it when we were making those early July picks with Aqua, I thought Jets were a seven win team without Favre. How good are they now? Many of us here said that if Favre came to Miami, he would bring us two to three more wins. I think he can do the same for the Jets. They have a pretty good O-line, a good RB imo, pretty good receivers in Cotchery and Coles IMO. It may take Favre a little time into the season to get the playbook down but personally, if I'm a Jets fan, I'm not too worried about it. Favre's a smart player despite being an *** of a character. Also, one thing I found interesting watching SportsCenter at 4 AM in the morning. When the Jets talked to Favre, they told him that he had good marketing in NY, face of the franchise and etc. What interested me was that they told him he would be part of the celebrated opening of the new stadium in 2010. Now, you have to wonder how long is this guy planning on playing? Is he going to play another five years and end up like Steve DeBerg?
Pennington goes 20-22 against his old team for 2 tds no ints..Miami wins 21-14 farve throws 2 picks..one late.
I see it as a 24-10 win for the Jets. I base that mainly on Favre because he will get them an extra touchdown that Pennington/Clemens couldn't have; otherwise I would have said 17-10 Jets or even a 17-13 win for the Fins.
Yahoo Fantasy Pro Football Pick'Em = Jets. I hope I lose week one in my league because Miami pulls the upset.
I'll wait until we get closer to the opener before my prediction. Right now Aqua's prediction has homer to the extreme degree written all over it. I appreciate everything he does for the site but he is one sided when it comes to things like this.
I'm not trying to start anything so I came to your message board to tell you guys I think the jets will beat you badly. pfffffffffffffft sure bro. If you're going to talk trash at least be a man about it.............
look at the stats you post...even if brett favre is learning the new system he will be better than beck...you have beck 17/24 he cant even do that in practice let alone with the pressure on...no interceptions? are you reading about the same player i am??? thomas jones under 70 yards?? our run defense isn't gonna be good... your prediction was over the top homer
Im going pick the Phins to win, but my reasoning may be different than others. I remember in September and October this team was UNBEATABLE at home under Shula and JJ (and it wasn't bad under the the Stache either). The training camp practices that we've had in this heat will leave us in better 4th quarter shape IMO. This is a power running team with Ricky and Ronnie and if we can avoid turnovers I expect this game to be close. My prediction: Dolphins 17 Jets 14
Th first game of the year is never a lock IMO. Teams and players are still adjusting, coaches are trying to figure what works best. It often feels like a 5th preseason game. Take for instance the Miami/Denver game down here several years ago. We won that game 34-10 against a team that went to the AFC Championship game. Favre will still be getting acclamated to the playbook and trying to find a rythm with his receivers. I dont see a high scoring game as I think our defense is much improved and our run game will eat up alot of clock.
We were 1-15 last season but how many of those games were close? How many injuries did we have? Wasn't the coaching horrible according to everyone? We have a chance. It's not like Beck can't play football, and it's not like Brett has been amazing the last few years of his career on a consistant basis. It's also not like the Jets are THAT good. His prediction could be right. I expect something along the lines of a 10-7 win.
Expect a HEAVY dose of the run game. This is why I mentioned turnovers were the key. If we let Jersey B capitalize on a few, we'll have to start throwing more frequently and that could open the flood gates.
One we're assuming that John Beck wins the QB battle. I know you're at the forefront of that parade Aqua. Leaving that topic alone... I think we win this game. It will be close if we do. Aqua, you made a great point about the Denver Bronco win. I don't think it matters who our QB is, as long as they don't turn the ball over and convert some 3rd downs through the air. I say that because I believe our run game will be fine and our defense will be back. Not to mention, I'll be at this game and we are undefeated when I watch a game live (3-0 if anyone cares).
I think the Dolphins will win this game 27-17. I see Ronnie and Ricky both having a monster game, and the Jets playing turning the ball over in the red zone a couple of times.
Actually we went 9-7 that season. It was Saban's first year. Although we did beat the eventual Super Bowl Champion Patriots that season (you may continue)
