Japan vs USA
It's been fun watching this tournament. I'm actually looking forward to today's game.

It's been exciting indeed. And their style of play is entertaining.
And lord they are like Tom Brady and Big Ben rolled into one. Clutch, never out of it.
Hopefully they can get it done. We've got the sentimental favorite today in Japan. -
What's nice about the women, they just play. They compete, but they don't screw around like the men. Other than the Brazil player trying to waste time, they just go out and play the game.
-
Which Channel is going to show the match live? thanks a lot.

Hmmm... USA-3, Japan-2, hard to choose though. I think Sawa will score and get the Golden Boot all to herself, Would rather have her get it then Marta.
-
Should be 10-0 USA right now.
-
Went on twitter... "Pearl Harbor" and "Japs" are trending in America. That kinda makes me want Japan to win. We have a lot of a$$holes that live here apparently

I'd be for the US 100% if they were not playing Japan.
-
US is without question the better team today.

Congrats to Japan!

I don't understand why the women's team is so stupid. In the 1st 15 minutes of the extended period Japan had the ball on the US's side for like 2 minutes, then after the US scored they just decided to stop trying to score and kept trying to pass the ball around on their own side almost the whole freaking time. Then the PK attempts (outside of Wambach) looked like such pitiful shots.
Good job American women, you blew your chances.
Congrats to Japan for actually never stopping trying to score.finyank13 likes this. -
Good for Japan, USA couldn't put it away so that's on them. Hopefully this does help uplift the spirits of a beleaguered nation that has seen more than it's share of heartache this past year.

Honda's and Toyota's are on sale tomorrow!!
I wanted the US to win, but this is just great for Japan! -
Since World Cup 2010 and this one, I have really fallen for this game. There is nothing like WorldCup Soccer. That was one of the most exciting Soccer games I have ever watched.
-
DUMB LUCK won it for Japan. -

By the way, there were no dives in this game. That was nice to see.

Oh the men's final was good, but this had USA and sentimental pick Japan. And had Japan coming back from being down a goal twice, once in regulation once in extra time.
Kind of interesting that this makes it so three different continents have won the WWC, and 4 different countries in 20 years. Right now, 8 countries have won the mens world cup, from just 2 continents in 80 years. You can feel an asian team might make the men's world cup soon though, with South Korea, Japan and Australia playing well there. Who knows if usa ever will. -
Whale Killers... :shifty:
It's a shame... I thought the US played better overall. For some reason they just couldn't put them away. Hope Solo had her worst performance of the last three matches (that I saw). Too bad the US couldn't put in a couple of those first half opportunities. Oh so close on several of them. I mean they hit the goal post on at least two. -
1)Last years final was way better.
2)The US fell apart after japans second goal. They let japan win this one or at least win that well. -
USA choked this one away though. The clutch team couldn't convert, couldn't close and shrunk when the lights were brightest. Out of character in those moments today.

they hit posts, got bad bounces, while completely dismantling Japan. They didn't deserve to lose. But they did. Luck is a factor in sports and when it comes down to a one game winner take all situation, alot of funny things can happen.finyank13 likes this. -

US was the better team today, but Japan had more heart and did what they needed to do today to win. I was for the US today, but I'm happy for Japan.

I've been a huge fan of soccer ever since I spent a semester in Rome. I watched AS Roma play Manchester United in the UEFA Cup Semi-Finals. I'd been to soccer games in the US (Bradley when he coached the fire), but THAT game ignited the torch for me. Stadium Olympico was PACKED like I've never seen an American stadium. People were setting off fireworks, rolling a flag over an entire section of seats, throwing flares on the field, screaming and singing in unision. It was asses to elbows with people sitting on the steps in the aisle. The riot police beat up a whole section of Man-U fans, Totti lit it up, and it was just an overall exhilarating experience. I hope BADLY that the US gets ahold of a World Cup soon. I'd LOVE to experience that again. This video doesn't do it justice..it was shot on my ****ty Sony 717, but it's the best I had. I'd love for all Americans to be able to experience that energy. It was like nothing I've ever seen. I've been to my share of football, baseball, and basketball games...but this sport is something else.

I have to say I've been very frustrated with the coverage of soccer here when I got back. I'd like to follow more, but it's REALLY hard to do so. They didn't cover the USWNT until the past two games on ESPN. I've had to live with Justin TV and ESPN 3 until then :PSection126 likes this. -
here as in the US? They covered the USWNT from the last 2 qualifiers on. The coverage was pretty good. -

Ok, now that Chile, and Brasil are out of the Coppa America,
Is Sanchez going to Barca?
Is Ganso going to AC Milan?
Is Neymar going to Real Madrid?
Sanchez is practially inked in Barca IMO, just a matter of time. Is he worth $45M? I don't know.
Neymar said he wouldn't mind another year at Santos, but I see him moving to Real. Again, 40 something mil for a teenager/next coming....quite the gamble at $40M but could pay off huge.
Ganso to AC Milan....I am skeptical. AC like Fabregas, but also linked with Montolivo (I'd rather have him) but their spending budget is in question since Berlusconi has to pay $500M from a lost court battle involving one of his TV stations. Berlusconi is actually looking at foreign investors from Russia, even rumored to have investors lined up from the Emirates years ago. It will only be a matter of time I fear that he will need to resort to foreign investors, but it will be better for the team in the long run.
As for Ganso, he had a decent Coppa America, but didn't show the flashes I expected....neither did Neymar, and he gets injured often and has already had two major surgeries. I wouldn't be disappointed if we got him, but I would prefer either Fabregas or Montolivo.
EDIT: Ooops, wrong forum, will post in World Soccer Thread. -
Nice Final and tournament. I really enjoyed it much like the other World Cups, men or women. Except Germany 2006.
Clearly, the Japanese women were physically outclassed by the USA women but didn't gave up. Then again, the Japanese women had to play against the host, Germany, and Sweden to get to the Final. You can say Japan pulled a Dirk Nowitzki while USA pulled a LeBron James.
For some reason, I feel "happy" for the Japanese ladies. :)
