I'd already said it here but now PFF is citing a Salguero piece which asks the question - Why not work out Tebow? By all accounts of those who have seen him recently he's a transformed QB. Now, that might be hype, it might not, but what is certain is that he has not only stayed in shape but he has spent months, working 6 days a week, hours a day, with Tom House and Rod Dedeaux, performing 100,000's of reps. Now, that might mean nothing but the only way to find out is send a scout or bring him in and work him out. No change, then leave him be. If there is change though, then why not bring him out and see what he can do? If it works, you not only get a better 3rd string QB, at least, but also a great athlete, an incredible work ethic, and someone who, especially for the Dolphins, helps build that team spirit and atmosphere.It's a no loss scenario here. Work him out already!

The Dolphins are working out Brady Quinn & John Skelton along with Rex Grossman. Plan is to add a veteran QB this week.
Both Moore and Devlin were practicing today... all this qb talk is strange in that regard. I wonder if Moore is being shopped? -
And the problem with Tebow, especially in the state of Florida, is that the second Tannehill throws a int, people will be chanting for Timmy. It's just something you don't want to make a situation.

The only question that matters is, can he play? Bring him in and have a look. Test him. If he can, give him a shot. We're talking 3rd string, maybe 2nd string. The Dolphins are running around looking for QB depth and not finding a lot. Give me one, good, reason that he shouldn't at least be worked out?

Point 1 - The whole idea of working someone out is to see what they can and cannot do - I didn't say SIGN Tebow now, I said work him out. What's especially important here is...
... Point 2 - If you'd have bothered to read the whole post I wrote, or look at the previous one linked, you'd have seen that Tebow has apparently done A LOT of work to improve, and that the few reports we have from those who have seen him state that he HAS transformed his throwing.
Point 3 - Now, if you have someone who has been ridiculed, who has been told to give up, who has been out of the job for over a year, and yet who has worked their rear-end off with well-known trainers, determined to improve, why wouldn't you want to take at least a look at what might have happened?
Moreno showed up to camp fat. Maybe only a bit, but fat. The guy has just signed a contract and was heading in to play with a new team. Tebow has been out for ages, is he fat, is he out of shape? That sort of commitment and grind is not common.
So again, the same question, serious answers this time please - one GOOD reason why Tebow shouldn't be worked out? -
Because there is enough tape on him already for teams to make an assessment, and they already have. No one has offered him a contract for some time. That's why you don't work him out; it would be a waste of time. He is a known quantity, and he simply isn't good enough.

one good reason? I'm not gullible enough to believe reports that Tebow went from an athlete that couldn't play QB to a "transformed" QB that is all of a sudden worthy of a backup QB spot. While I'm all for trading Moore because I think he's highly overrated and not very good at all, I'd rather keep him than bring in Tebow.

Wrong style of Qb for this offense, he will never be an accurate passer, he will generate big plays.

That could have been the case before but not now that he has been designated a bust.There is as much Tebow hate as love .
Looking at the other candidates available he may be worth a try .He has been working all off season with a QB coach who has been changing his delivery and there is no one who will work harder -
He's an awful player that needs a special offense to be even marginally useful, and the media ****show is not even remotely close to worth it.
UF fandom and social conservatism are basically the only things that have Tebow not sinking into total obscurity. It certainly isn't his skills.Unlucky 13 likes this. -
Forget the media fanfare or distractions, he's just not a compelling quarterback. The only reason you'd want to add him is to potentially come in on some goal line packages as a wildcat type but right now they want (for good reason) Tannehill to work on being that dangerous multiple threat near the end zone.

IMO he doesn't upgrade either of our backup positions enough to be worthy of a contract. I mean the Patriots didn't even want the guy....

Bottom line we need a QB in here, a capable QB. Even if its just for training camp purposes and for preseason games so we can evaluate our backups, or maybe we are shopping Moore... he does have a high salary this year for a backup doesnt he? -

I don't see how Tim Tebow would repair the locker room. I think that's a fallacy. If anything he'd just be a distraction and divisive influence as he'd be an object of ridicule for some and an object of admiration for others.
And his being a coach's pet is exactly why if I were Dennis Hickey I would not allow him onto the roster. It's like giving a hungry man poisoned berries.Unlucky 13, Alex13 and SICK like this. -
Seems like a good many of you have a chronic inability to either:
A) Understand that this is about bringing Tebow in for a workout, not a contract
B) Understand that Tebow has put a ridiculous amount of effort into improving with some of the top trainers and there are reports of his having improved - and the only way to check is to work him out. -

Tim Tebow simply can't throw a football. Sorry, but as popular as he is, as good a runner as he is, I'd venture to say that several skill position players on the Dolphins could probably throw it better than him. If he made a team as an HB - then one might occasionally throw him in there in a read option goal-line situation.
But, if you want an actual backup QB who is capable of coming in and throwing effectively, there is no way you sign this guy (and I'm a fan of Tebow on a personal level).
The basic problem Tebow has had is he has an incredibly awful throwing motion. Unless he had a massive "swing" change and demonstrated that - he's not worth having.

1. If there was a way for Tebow to improve THAT dramatically while NOT playing the game for a year, then EVERY QB would be doing it and they'd all be great.
2. Unless a player is a Top 5 talent at the position, then their ability to create distractions has to be factored in and weighed against their contribution. Case in point, Incognito.
3. The only reason anyone clamors for Tebow is either because they are Gator fans or they artificially build him up for what he represents off the field.
4. If Tebow can fix a locker room, then explain Aaron Hernandez and the Pouncey Twins.

One of the main reason to have a back up quarterback is so they can play scout team and practice well. Tebow is terrible at practice.

Every player that hopes to play in the NFL works out a lot, works with trainers on improving their fundamentals. I'm not so sure why Tim Tebow should be so different from the myriad other players the NFL has decided can't play. I guess it's just because his name is Tim Tebow, it's automatically assumed that some Rocky montage is going to make him better. Reality is we've seen what Tebow can do just as we've seen what for example Kevin Kolb can do.
You don't see people out there saying "Guys, Kevin Kolb has worked REALLY hard lately and his friends keep saying he's improved a ton, we should take a look at him!"Da 'Fins, Disgustipate and Sceeto like this. -
Most importantly, Tebow is horrible. Just so amazingly awful that everyone involved in drafting him as high as Denver did is a joke themselves. He's washed out on three teams, including as a backup. He's proven to suck. End of story.
Beyond that, there's the fact that listening to him talk is like scratching fingernails on a chalkboard. His personality is as tough to take as his throwing motion.

- Erm no. Because most QB's don't have the time to put in. Two, QB's who don't have the time are playing QB so they wouldn't feel the need, or as much need. QB's who aren't playing and could benefit would also need the same work ethic and commitment. All that aside though, still not a reason to bring him in and take a look. We're talking about a work out for goodness' sake.
- Top 5? Where's you pull that number from? AGAIN, we're talking about a work out, not a contract. If he is deemed worthy of a contract then they can make that decision.
- Ah okay, that game. The only reason anyone shoots Tebow down is because they dislike what he represents of the field. Not true? Well said. This is about giving a guy a shot. A workout. Based on the commitment to the game, to improving, AND some reports that there has been at least a level of success, nothing else.
- Wow. Really? So, does your little equation work for any other single individual? No-one said he could fix it, but he could play a role.
- That's possible but not guaranteed. Also depends on how it's done and just for one or two workouts, any media storm for the Dolphins will be short lived unless they keep him, and as above, that will be their decision from that point. This is just about giving him a work out.
