After midnight... it is Gameday.
The time: 16:15 Eastern.
The place: Miami, FL
The Miami Dolphins have never beaten the Houston Texans. And after last week's performances, the Texan's have never seemed more superior to the team they are undefeated against. The weather is supposed to be 88 and sunny for kick-off. I'm not sure that is even a Dolphin advantage anymore, first time the notion has ever crossed my mind. The Texans have the best WR in football, and a slew of studs in their defensive front 7, the #1 fantasy prospect, and a hell of a qb. What do we got? I'm not quite sure.
But I do know this. The game is not played on paper. All the tendencies and the stats and the details of the past, do not equal tomorrow, or any other future results. Tomorrow is a new day, where players will play and coaches will coach in a new way. Fans will watch and we will all see it unfold before our very eyes. And that is all that matters. It is the reason why 2 time AFC runner up Ny Jests cannot beat us in their own house under Rex Ryan. It is the reason we slew The Champion Packers and A-Rodg in Green Bay. It is the reason we will win today! Because you have to play the game.
Some pray to PFF, I pray to the Football Gods. For they are fickle and cruel and without rhyme or reason. They are the force that drives Wildcard teams win Superbowls, and Buffalo Bills to castrate Kansas City Chiefs, and for the million other reasons we collectivly shake our heads in disbelief at the unbelievable we behold each Sunday in the fall.
Some worship the Football numbers, I worship the Football Gods. And I pray to them:
Dear Omnipotent-Omnicient-Crazy Football Gods,
Please shine your generosity upon our team and our fanbase. We have suffered for too long. Be good to us, and allow us our time to rise again, to our former fortunes. As your humble and worthy man-child, I offer you a sacrifice to satiate your wills.
I offer you up to you:
He is the heart and soul of my $$$ fantasy keeper league. He is my best, and he is yours to obliterate. Take this statistical sacrifice and do with it as you please, in honor of my Miami Dolphins.
Take this humble offering and be kind to us.
Allow us to rise again, returning to our former glory.
A quick story...
I moved to this ole 100 year old house I live in a few years back. It has a pool with a diving board. I never had a pool before. So I opened the pool that first summer, and I look at the diving board. I wondered about it, as I have little pool, swimming, diving or any type of experience of the sort. I say "Seth, it's simple...either you can do a back-flip off that board or you can't. Now go do a f***in backflip." I grabbed my sack and stuck the backflip.
The moral? Sometimes life is that simple. Either you do, or you don't.
Go Dolphins. Now go win the f***in game.
Warmly,
Dolphin Faithfuls Everywhere

Could anyone, someone, sneak into Andre Johnson's hotel room and sever his hamstring 3 inches above the knee with their Barlow Knife? Everytime he tried to make a cut, he'd fall flat on his face. :chuckle: I'd like our chances pretty well then. Also, Nolan needs to keep the bong put away and out of reach when he is writing out his defensive game plan. No peppermint schnapps allowed into the coach's booth either. :drink:

Can we get pressure this week? And turn that pressure into turn overs?
That's the two big questions for me. If we can do that it will compensate for Johnson. He's going to get his, we just need to take advantage of our own big play opportunities.Sethdaddy8 likes this. -

Yeah, Johnson is the uncontrolled volcano spewing CO2 into the atmosphere in an attempt to control emissions. He's the Fukushima of Global radiation. The Federal Reserve of global banking. The flouride in the water, so to speak. The ... well, you get the point (the Patriot Act of US legislation...)
Perhaps we should pray to the fooball Gods:
O God of shutdown corners
Grant us the cockiness and lack of memory
That all great shutdown corners possess
And give us the wisdom to attack the hurry-up offense
Forgive us our false starts
As we punish those who encroach against us
And deliver us from Belichek
For thine is the brutality, the hatred and power
For at least until we can walk away on top

i am simply praying to the turnover brother gods - fumble and interception. Granted, they are lesser Gods, but if they smile upon our quest, I think it is all we'll need. Save the bigger Gods for greater challenges

Just a fyi
pillls:
IF you look under the game it says p2p or webstream. Both confirmed. I have good luck but its never perfect. I use the p2p hardware(requires download of software, hasnt virused me in two yrs but im not responsible lol follow the instructions) alot if webstreams go down. I'll update in this thread if I find anything http://forum.wiziwig.eu/threads/60233-Streaming-2011-NFL-WEEK-2
They keep em closed till 30 mins early or so -
0-2. One step closer to the ultimate goal.

I think this thread is great. Pretty hilarious. If we win, we should offer up a fantasy star of the thread maker every time. I thought that was funny.

God, I hope I can make it to the end of the game today without being completely obliterated by the third quarter. WE HAVE TO WIN! There is no excuse. This game will define the rest of the season.

Well...the defense let me down last week. I thought it would be the offense I'd be yelling at during the game, but Henne played well. Since the Texans have no Brady and don't play the "keep them on the field/no huddle" crap --we should be fine!
-
All I'm hoping is that Medi is still around during the games this season. Nothing like hanging with friends while I suffer...LOL
-
Listen guys, the key to today's game is going to be the defense, period.
-Can the defensive line put pressure on Schaub?
-Can the defensive line plug the running holes?
-Can the secondary match up one on one in order to faciliate blitz packages on Schaub?
-Can the defense match up physically with Houston's offense?
Last week, the Dolphins proved to me their offense can match up with any in the league. Henne had a PHENOMINAL game. Questionable call by Daboll on 4th and 1 at the goal line, but all in all, Daboll's "left lane" offense opened up and Henne performed admirabley.
Mike Nolan's defense on the other hand...
Whenever I see the Dolphins defense being manhandled as they were last week, I am reminded of Will Patton's speech to his defense in "Remember the Titans" and wishing someone would motivate our Dolphins as he did in the film.

In the "predictions" thread about a month or so ago, I had the Dolphins at 0-2 following this game, but it wasn't due to our defense losing the game, it was uncertainty in the ability of our offense to produce. After last week's game, I'm confident in our offense. The only question is will the Texans remember...forever....the night they played the Dolphins?steveincolorado and Sethdaddy8 like this. -
Reading these prayers reminded me immediately of the scene from "We Were Soldiers" when Lt. Col. Hal Moore and one of his officers, Lt. Jack Geoghegan, are visiting the base chapel the night before they are deployed in Viet Nam. It goes something like this:
