Can anybody tell me why this guy is so under-appreciated??
You would think that 156 tackles in one year would get a guy drafted.
The guy has a list of laurels and accolades a mile long, and he has decent size, and he tested pretty good, and he was an academic award winner every year and has a double major, elite character and a leader.
Shouldn't we be elated that he is going to be in Dolphins camp?

I can't tell ya...but if 32 teams pass 7 times, there's got to be something there tripping him up. I hope he lights it up...plays with a "wasn't drafted" chip. But I hope all UDFAs do that...ONLY for the Dolphins, of course.CashInFist likes this. -
He doesnt pass the eyeball test.He doesnt have many measurables and he doesnt look like a football player but he is a tackling machine .
We had another player like that who was a perennial all pro player.........ZT so there is hope he will stick.:yes:jdallen1222, Pro-X, USMCGUNZ and 2 others like this. -
I sure hope one of these four UDFA LB's pan out. All four were super productive in college and each has something unique from a measurables perspective. Wouldnt that be something?

I fully expect 1 if not 2 of the UDFA LB sticking to the final 53. Hull at the least should stick.CashInFist likes this.

The more I read the more blown away I am this kid didn't get drafted. The scouts are crazy. He may just end up being our starting middle LB in 16.

A lot of it likely has to do with the competition. While they weren't playing Grambling and Bowie State, Utah State didn't exactly play many powerhouses. I'm not saying that means anything because you can only tackle who's in front of you. But that is in consideration regarding competition. I'm rooting for him of course.

I wanted us to draft Mike Hull, so hell yeah I hope he makes the team.

Both Vigil and Hull were named by Barnwell for his sleeper UDFA's. Cool to see them both here. I think at the least they can potentially be ST aces.

Yes he was from Utah State and was a rookie starter as I recall. The most famous football alum from there of all time would have to be Merlin Olsen. Currently also, Robert Turbin, and Donald Penn are a couple of notable players from USU. Lionel Aldridge, one of the unsung stalwarts on the great Packer defenses of the 60s also went to USU. Greg Kragen who played NT for the Broncos for 13 seasons in Elway's heyday also went to college there. It really is not unusual for the school's football players to make the jump and do well in the NFL.PerfectTeam likes this.

I too am enamored with this kid. 6'2" 240 pounds, 4.66 40, 26 reps, loads of productivity in college. He also looked good in the shrne game.
Interesting to note that PFF had Vigil rated as an early 3rd round pick (#69 overall) in their final mock draft - ahead of Perryman. They also ad Hull going in the 3rd round

Every NFL Team's Best Undrafted Free-Agent Signing So Far
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...t-undrafted-free-agent-signing-so-far/page/18
Best signing: Zach Vigil, LB
Although Miami passed over linebackers in the draft, the team added four undrafted free agents at linebacker. The best of the group is Utah State’s Zach Vigil. He has the best chance to make the opening-day roster.
Vigil has unmatched production and experience. He produced 389 tackles, 43.5 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks in three seasons. The Dolphins need a backup linebacker, and Vigil is ready for the role. -
If that's all we get from any of our four UDFA LBs, I will still be very happy. Depth has been a concern with us for a long time.
