I've just had a similar experience. I am now convinced I will need to block some posters - something I have never done before, nor ever thought I would do.

Considering the rookie pre-determined slotting of contracts I can't blame players/agents wanting fully guaranteed deals. Next year it will be the turn of the 3rd and 4th rounders. Eventually tou'll see rookies getting fully guaranteed contracts
Won't that depend on the willingness of team ownerships to be willing to forgo the availability of those draft picks in order to maintain control of salaries?
It has been clear that over time, not all draft picks pan out - much less excel.
If, and when, ownership decides that controlling their ever-eroding control of contracts, then the players will probably face a take it or leave it situation without any recourse but to try re-entering the NFL the following year.
Considering that their competition will be younger, certainly just as good and possibly better, and aware that if they refuse their new contract offers that they also can expect to be out of work for a year, then the whole flimsy basis for those higher contracts will dissolve like dust in the wind.

Another Greir special in the works. How many games does he play given past injuries and “retirement”. This has a greater chance to be a disaster more than a success I think.
How many players available for trade don't have some degree of injury history?

Grier and Ross better be thinking about the optics
they have 6 more days to get it done as he should not miss a practice
Can we just ****ing stop with the bs drama on this team and do the right damn things
There are a few draftees from the same round and who play the same position that think they should get more than is being offered.
My attitude is this: they haven't played one NFL game snap, so let them sign or let them wait for the next draft and see if they have gotten either better or wiser.
I agree with you about having dodged a bullet and that Grier made a good decision.
I would add that I wish Wilkins the best for his performance for us while he was here. I hope his second operation is a success and that he finds himself in good enough health to continue in the NFL as a player - or even a coach.

Turns out it was nothing.
Last year, Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill filed for divorce from his wife. He claimed it was all a mistake, and that he fired the “****ing bonehead” who had done it. This week, Hill was served with divorce papers filed by his wife. Via the Miami Herald, the papers were filed after the incident that resulted in police being called to Hill’s home. No charges were filed.
The personal developments come at a time when Hill’s professional future still seems murky. He said he wants to leave the Dolphins after the regular-season finale. He then embarked on a Super Bowl week media tour aimed at putting the toothpaste back in the tube.
At the league meetings, coach Mike McDaniel said the team is “fully planning” to move forward with Hill.

For this coming year it's certainly asinine, but in the longer term it makes some sense. Big bloated contracts on aging players are being dumped. Tyreek will be gone either this offseason or next. Ramsey is going. Armstead is gone. Chubb probably soon as well.
And frankly, is it necessarily a bad thing? Clearly we couldn't get over the hump with those players and those salaries. Why not start the process of retooling. We aren't bad enough or bereft of talent to need a full rebuild. A good draft or two and we could be back on the upswing.
This clearly is not just what the team is doing to improve our "Cap" position; but
it is indicative of what positions are going to be prioritized going into the draft.
I see this as an appropriate approach to becoming a more complete team in terms of the teams' positional depth, player position selections in the draft and player development across both the Offense and Defense.

Guys. It is over.
We can’t fool ourselves any longer. It’s time to just wake up and smell the stank of the s—ty coffee. It just is what it is. Unfortunately, it is over. This whole project, this whole regime, etc. It’s over. Time to start again. Demolition Day ahead. I’m not even trying to instigate anyone or being negative just for the sake of just being negative. It’s just my honest opinion. It’s a failed experiment and it’s over.
McDaniels:
I hadn’t had a real problem with him until this season, but he has truly been exposed this season for a guy who is simply not ready to be a HC.
He hadn’t even been a successful coordinator before he was hired. He was the run game coordinator in SF and was only allowed to call some run plays on his own in his last year there, but no pass plays. This is really a huge problem with him, and it’s been evident in every game this season.
This last game, man..
All the penalties? I think something like 67% were pre snap penalties. That’s on him. What was it? ..like 6 penalties for 60 yards or something like that? That’s an undisciplined team. That’s on the coach. All the mistakes? They’re mentally week and not concentrating. They’re not disciplined. That’s on him.No one is held accountable. He’s too forgiving and buddy buddy with these guys. Julian Hill among several others shouldn’t even be playing anymore. No accountability. It’s a joke.
He does not know how to call a game. He’s learning on the job. He can’t yet grasp all the intricacies of calling a game. He has no counter moves, etc. He’s not ready.
He was a run game coordinator. That’s his specialty. Jaylen Wright looked very good in the previous game, but he decides not to use him in this past game until the second half? Ingold was a better option on some on those plays? Wt-?
He’s just lost right now.
No accountability for his staff. Embree and Crossman? Wt-? How are they still employed?
10 points in the first half.
150 passing yards against one of the worst defenses in the league.
He has to go
He had two weeks to prepare for one of the worst Ds in the league and that’s what we got?
The Time out?
2nd and goal from the three, and he decides to call a pass?
He needs to stop focusing on his Gucci wardrobe, and man up.
This is just a fraction of what I could point out.
Grier:
This season couldn’t be a clearer example for why he is such an utter disaster as a GM. His ingenious plan is really paying off. I mean….c’mon, it’s over. It’s not like he wasn’t given a fair chance. He must go. What other evidence could anyone possibly need to admit that he needs to go?
Go from the Tunsil trade to the 2020 draft to all the extensions and massive contracts given out this past offseason to all these high priced acquisitions, etc, etc, etc, and this is it?
The backup QB situation? No need to explain about this one, but knowing Tua’s history of injuries and missed games, Grier was comfortable going into the season with Skylar Thompson and Todd Boyle as Tua’s security blankets just as he was comfortable going into the season with this OL.
One of the oldest rosters in the league.
He makes these free agent signings to cover up for his many draft blunders.
It’s over. No sane person, much less any fan of this team, could possibly want to keep this utter disaster of a GM around any longer. It’s just over.
I was ranting how mistakes like the 2020 draft can set this franchise back many years and all we can do is just hope we get extremely lucky somewhere along the way. Look where we are now. That’s exactly what’ s happening.
Tua:
All of this talk about how this shows how great Tua must really be is insane. It’s really reaching and grasping at straws. It does nothing of the sort.
He had years, thousands of reps in an offensive designed specifically for him as opposed to say Huntley, who had how many reps in this offense? It’s also an offense that has clearly been figured out by the league and we have nothing else.
After the offseason with Tua getting the big contract, with him working so hard to get fit and ripped and not be the undisciplined, chubby little “art form”, to finally getting to see him “threaten the D with his legs”, and…… How did that work out?
It’s over. He’s just not physically or mentally built for the NFL. Unfortunately, that’s just the reality.
After the Barfalo game even the Tuanonners here all admitted that it was over.
Not to sound insensitive, but in a way, the concussion was the best thing that could have happened to him. It completely changed public perceptions. It completely diverted the attention away from what some don’t want to admit; that he was terrible before the concussion. We had no chance in that game with him and, imo, he was bad in the first game against one of the worst teams in the league. We could barely beat the Jags and were extremely fortunate and yes, lucky considering the time and circumstance of the play, to get out of there with a win.
Don’t forget that Ross and the bald headed flying rearenda got busted and lost picks for the team trying to find a replacement for Tua. So even they themselves weren’t sold on Tua. That’s important to remember. So, they were forced to find a way to make it work with him and that was clearly McDaniel’s mandate when hired.
So, it’s just over. Stick with your initial gut instincts. He is never going to be “the guy”. Sucks. Are we expecting that maybe by year 9 or something, he will finally be able to shake off the injury/concussion thing and poor performances to finally lead us to Superbowl? …a playoff win?
C’mon. Time to just rip the Band-Aid off, let the demons bleed out and start over. lol. Yes, it sucks big time, but we just should just face this reality now and stop fooling ourselves. No more BS. It’s over.
As of now, I don’t even really like the crop of top QBs who will be coming out of college next year. So………bottoms up, mofo’ers. :drink:
Thanks bros.
I hope your wrong, but this year will tell a tale.
I wonder who will be listening?

Probably because they have been trotting out an interior OL of Jones, Eichenberg, Cotton or Jones, Brewer, Eichenberg in those games.
It was obvious at the end of last year that the line was a liability but the fact they rolled it out again I had put my trust in McDaniel either had saw something or that he had a new wrinkle up his sleeve that would at least cover for it. Stupid me.
I was always one that believed that you won in the trenches but with the rule changes and all the high flying passing offenses I thought maybe that had changed. I was wrong, everything begins up front as it always has.
I posted this on another board but just look at the state of this blocking, this is why the offense doesn't work. 4 guys blocking 1 while the other 3 got their *** whooped which meant a sack in 2 seconds.
Even I can see the problem there!

So you think Tannehill could do what Brady did in SB 51, coming back from a 25 point deficit (28-3) to win the SB? No chance. The "team" (including Brady) played bad up till that point, but what you saw after that was yet another example of a comeback win by one of the greatest QBs ever — though that particular one is even amazing for Brady.
Don't discount how important the QB is. You've been doing that for years. Unless you think Tannehill could engineer that kind of comeback — and if you think he could the question is why he never showed any ability similar to that — then that's evidence there's a difference between QBs. Given how average Belichick's record is without Brady, it's realistic to assume Tannehill with Belichick would have led to no SBs compared to 6 with Brady. Can't just dismiss QB play by saying (technically) it's the "team" that does everything.
QB's don't engineer comebacks.
Coaches do. - LOL

In a hypothetical scenario…
If Tannehill were here in Miami now…Tannehill of 5 years ago, he COULD play well provided McDaniel truly opened up the run game, more than he has with Tua.
As we all saw in Tennessee, Tannehill played well…very well but when you take a look at what the Titans had built, the only thing they were missing was a viable quarterback. Tannehill brought a level of quarterback play to Tennessee that Mariotta couldn’t. Tannehill inherited the same team Mariotta had but Marcus just couldn’t produce.
That’s the type of offense Tannehill thrives in, one that is balanced and has a potent run game that opens up the passing game. That’s why he did so well In Tennessee. Could he do well in Miami? Only if McDaniel called an effective run game to open up the passing game, something I thought he was going to do but hasn’t had to sue to the effectiveness of Tua.
Aren't we expecting a better running game with our RB group this year?
"cbrad wrote:
In the very post you quoted I said he played elite his first 2 years. Doesn't absolve him of crapping in the playoffs in year 3 when the Titans were the best team in the AFC outside of QB. Tannehill had severe limitations even when playing with an All-Star cast: he couldn't overcome bad team play. Not the type of QB that typically wins SBs.
He didn't really "bloom" under Gase even prior to injury. In 2014 he posted a 92.8 rating with Philbin. In 2016 prior to injury with Gase he posted a 93.5. Never did Tannehill show he was more than slightly above average in Miami.
Titans were 6th in rushing (total yards) in 2018, the year before Tannehill. They already had a great running game. They went up 3 spots in 2019. Not a huge difference. It was for Henry, but not for the Titans.
And as explained before this passing offense requires precise timing with quick release. That's something Tannehill doesn't have. The guy needs time in the pocket.
I should have stated it was Tanny on the field that brought Henrys numbers up significantly.
Once the Titans started playing well under Tannehill as QB, they began to lose some of their best OL and receivers to FA. This is a common occurrence in the NFL, once a Team starts playing well.
"cbrad wrote:
We didn't have the #1 seed. HUGE difference. That's not semantics. That's a major difference in how strong the team is. And what's really not productive is acting like our team last year was anything close to the Titans #1 seed team that Tannehill helped tank in the playoffs. Really no comparison.
Not as a backup. This is a very different kind of offense. You'd need to build something for Tannehill like what he had with the Titans. And we know how that went.
The Titans running game came to life with Tanny at QB.
You don't think he wouldn't do as well or better with our current RB room?
I do.
"cbrad wrote:
We weren't the #1 seed. The Titans were. BIG difference.
And Gase was trumpeted here by many (not me) as the right coach for Tannehill, one that finally believed in him etc. with all that nonsense. Sorry he didn't pan out. But if you're a Dolphins fan (and you are) you should be very happy we got rid of Tannehill.
LOL!! YOU are the one that made that comparison. You asked whether Tannehill TODAY would be successful here with the right coach (i.e., McDaniel). So you are the one that created the "disingenuous" comparison. Good job lol.
Tanny started to bloom under Gase, until he got injured. Then he remained injured for most of his next two years. I think that Tannenbaum guy who was in charge of the FO was not a great help either.
