To our ThePhins Family,
We want all of our ThePhins.com members to have toys for their children and food for their Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas celebrations. This is a time of great need and we want to join you to help our members who may not have adequate money to buy food or to give a present to their children for holidays.
To make that possible, we are starting the First Annual Take Care of Our Family Drive. "ThePhins.com will match the first $500 in donations" Donations can be made via Paypal without your name, and can indeed be mailed in if you like.
Those Brothers and Sisters that are in a tough situation this year, will need to sit down with their other significant one, and figure out what they really need for this Holiday Season. Then, once they have done that, the family member will need to PM me with what they are in need of, and the number of children in the family as well. This will be kept confidential (site admins only). Please be considerate of what you need, and what others may need as well. We will make a priority of food on the table first, then a present for the children.
If you can spare a few dollars to help a member in need of food for the holidays or gifts for a member's children, please either mail or donate via the Contribute link.
If you are a member in need of food for the holidays or gifts for your children, PM me and let me know what you need and what you think it will cost to make your family's holidays enjoyable.
If we receive a lot of donations we will be able to do more. If we don't receive an ample amount of donations we will make a priority list and go from there. We will post what we collected, and sent out after Christmas. The donations will be sent out in the form of a gift card only. This is the goal of ThePhins Family to ensure each family member has the very best Holiday Season that they can possibly have. If you have any questions at all, please contact John (Fin Fan In Cali) via PM.

Also want to say that you guys (mods, admins and everyone else donating) are great people and I love how you all look out for each other. Its a great loving and caring family here and as Brandon said in the CL, it all starts from the management. You guys have done a great job here and this just gets better for some families. I wish I could help but I can't so I just want to wish everyone safe and joyful holidays. I hope you enjoy the time with your families and friends.

I'll also say I wish everyone the best holidays. If you can't afford turkeys or food I know it might be embarassing but check to see if you qualify for food stamps as well. Go to a kitchen if you have to.
It will only be embarassing to you if you take it with current society in mind. In todays world it's simply not enough to have a studio apartment if you're one person you have to have a house. Oh and by the way you can't just have a car it has to be a "current" model and has to be environment friendly.
Remember at our most basic we are based on survival. All that is enough is food, water and shelter. How you get it matters not. Cheers and keep your heads up. I know I am. -

I was just stating that because that's really how I feel. While I'm sure the extra attention this site would give person X there are also other ways to get it and one need not feel embarassed to get funding that the government has set up for these kinds of things. At one time I went and applied for (medicaid? medicare? I get them mixed up) anyway, I was told I make too much. It was seriously only by 3 dollars or something ridiculous like that.
The point is if you don't at least try to do it when you know you need it and the option is available you're not making the best use of your resources. The best anyone can do is put a step forward and try.njfinfan, dolphindebby and Fin Fan In Cali like this. -
Absolutely fantastic. I can't donate much. But it will help someone.

One other thing.
Christmas isnt the only holiday around the time.
Hannukah happens around the same time, and I believe Ramadahn and others as well.
And dont bring on the stereotype that all jews are rich, because you have no idea.
Just a thought that you might want to add that -

!
How can anyone find a way to make this a biased effort is beyond me... The money being raised is for ALL members of this family that need it!!! There are no requirements to meet other than you are in need... This is regardless of your ethnic background, current job status or your religion...
Jeez! IF you need assistance PM FFIC... IF not, don't degrade the effort of the site and give a little!

I had a friend a few years ago who tried to see if she could qualify for food stamps and they told her since she was making 12k a year she made too much money, her rent was 950$.So you have to be dirt poor to get food stamps.
And what you said about are current society................I don't know any single friend of mine that owns their own house.I have friends that are couples and have a house, but a'lot of them couples have had to sell their house in the pass year.......They were not poor ether, they were making from 60k to 130k a year.
And as far as cars go..............the only current model car i've ever been in was a rental.
Where do you live? .....and how do i get to your America?
It really touch me that this site is doing this.I've been going to FH and now here, for the better part of a decade.I always thought the cream of the crop came here from FH and this just proves it tenfold.
I don't own a home or have a new car but i have had just about every toy i've ever wanted, as a kid and now, and i will do what i can to help others here have the same.
On the other hand, i also know what it's like to be a young boy from Miami hialeah and get penny rolls as a christmas present. So i 'll do all i can to help.Last edited: Nov 1, 2008baboo72, Fin Fan In Cali, alen1 and 3 others like this. -

anyway, that's not what this thread is about. this thread is about helping people who don't have the means to put food on the table or to buy a gift for their loved ones. we can discuss this further via PM if you would like :).
FFIC and others: I really wish I could contribute to help this year. We're not sinking but we're not exactly floating, either.WharfRat and Fin Fan In Cali like this. -
I don't think he has a "real" take on our society. That society with a new car every year, and have to have a house, is very uncommon.I have friends who are millionaires who have never gone after that white rabbit.
As far as what you said, i agree 100%, not just about owning a home but friends, lovers , family as well.
So have fun with your new husband, or new girlfriend kids because odds are your just renting them as well.
Back to the house, it only makes since to pay off a house before you die if you plan on selling it or leaving it with your loved ones.siciliansith likes this. -
Family as you are aware that holidays are upon us. We have a lot of proud men on this site. Please look at your family, and your current financial situation. We have collected an outstanding amount from our terrific family here to help others. If you need assistance this is what the holidays are all about. If you have too much pride to ask, your spouse or children can contact me via pm or use the contact us on the site, and that will only go to the admins. We will keep this in the highest confidentially. This is for all members. I know what it is to be going through tough times, as I have been out of work since July.
If you are in need for Thanksgiving please contact me immediately, so we can ensure in time delivery of a gift card for a awesome family meal.
We are going with a cut off date of December 15th. So please get your pm's to me as soon as possible. If you need help after that date, please contact me, and we will do our very best to assist. It may not come until after Christmas, but it will be on it's way.
If you need help this year please take it, as in next year you could in return help another family during this time.:hi5:
We love you all, and want to ensure that this time of the year has some cheer in it for you and your family!USArmyFinFan and GoPhins! like this. -
I want to emphasize part of John's original post -- most of the members here are guys who are too proud to ask. I am like you. I love beer, knowing that I can take care of my loved ones and scratching my balls BUT this is more about your family than about your pride.
Look your children and wife in the eye and if you have a need and are still too proud to ask for help, have them contact us.GoPhins! likes this. -
Awesome. I wish I wasn't so strapped for cash right now, I'd love to contribute. I'm a tweener, got enough money to get by but not quite enough to help other people yet.
Just thought I'd show some recognition of the great efforts put forth by the admins here.Celtkin and Fin Fan In Cali like this. -
We have helped a couple of families already for Thanksgiving. If you need some assistance to make your holidays a little brighter, please send me a pm, or have a family member send it to me. We have been truly blessed with outstanding support this year from family. We want to make sure everyone has a smile during this holiday season. Family takes care of family through thick and thin. If you need assistance this year, just let me know, and it will be taken care of. Then if next year is better for you, you can contribute and help someone else out. This is going to be a yearly family drive to take care of our own.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!:wink2:dolphindebby likes this. -

Please do not wait, if you know that this holiday season is going to be tough, whether it's food, toys, or presents, please send me a pm with your needs, and an address, and we will take it from there.:hi5: We love the family here, and we are doing our very best to take care of our loving family. We have had some requests for the upcoming holidays, and to those family members, I say thank you very much for coming forth.:wink2:

Guys, I previously said I was going to help out, but unfortuantley, I wasnt available to. Times have been hard lately, but hopefully I can contribute next year. Maybe for next season, I can donate some preseason tickets, since this year, my tickets for the first game went unused
