I want to see more of Milacciah Goodman. He looks as if he lost a little weight this season and it helped. He was able to get to the edge and flatten out a bit once he did where previously he would have stumbled and looked a bit awkward. He's playing much better at a slightly lesser weight. He has the frame to add a bit of weight, but he might be a nice fit in terms of a 'larger' end that can still give us added pass rush.

He should also be available in the late 2nd to 3rd round area.

I said that earlier in the year about Goodman seeming like the added weight had hurt him as a pass rusher after appearing quite promising early on at Clemson when I thought he reminded me some of Derrick Morgan.

 

Margus Hunt. Such a tall athletic player. Quite unique, its hard to find a similar styled player.

 

I'm not as much of a fan as others of Hunt. The Bowl game was ridiculous, I agree. But, there are more times that he isn't making much of an impact at all on the field. He doesn't make as many plays as you'd expect from such a specimen.

 

The bowl game was ridiculous but let's face it. Margus Hunt was a 26 year old olympic quality athlete MAN going agianst an 18-19 year old BOY who was the #735th best recruit in the state of California only a year earlier. Dominating a 290 lbs true freshman right tackle that was off everyone's recruiting radar and is like 8 years younger than you? Mmmkay, yeah forgive me if I don't get all excited about that tape.

 

I think it largely has to do with how raw he is. He has ways to go. I'm hoping he does well in Mobile.

Clowney has been clowning everyone since HS. I don't think age is that much of a factor. Especially tackles, some guys are 6'7 310+ are you telling me guys like that haven't peaked physically? The only thing setting them apart seems to be technique.

 

Anyone leaping out at you on tape recently? (I agree on Margus, btw, though I didn't know any of those details about the kid he went up against).

 

I like Goodman also but as a closed end.

Agree on Hunt too.

Was reading some of Shane Hallam's (from DraftCountdown) tweets from Mobile today, and mentioned seeing Miami personnel talking to Michigan's Denard Robinson, Marshall's Aaron Dobson, and I'm pretty sure he mentioned Kansas State's Arthur Brown as well.

 

Ugh if we draft Denard...

 

In their blog, they mentioned that Denard will be working as a WR, RB, and kick returner. My only thought is that if Miami were interested in him, it's because he can probably do the things Marcus Thigpen does, but better. Or, perhaps they're looking to have a more dynamic player in the slot.

 

It's likely nothing more than the brass touching base with a player that will get a lot of scrutiny between now and the draft.

Aaron Dobson gives me a bad vibe, not his talent, but the demeanor with which he seems to play.

Wonder if Denard Robinson is a 1st round corner if he played it from day 1.

IMO, it is good that Joe Philbin is there. If Miami is targeting a wide receiver high, then they need his input on what he is looking for in a wide receiver. My best guess is that he will want someone with the physical characteristics of those receivers he had in Green Bay. Plus, let's be honest here. While he wasn't the one doing the drafting, Green Bay has a much better history at selecting wide receivers in the draft than Jeff Ireland has had. Greg Jennings, James Jones, and Jordy Nelson vs Skyler Green, Isiah Stanback, Pat Turner, Brian Hartline, Clyde Gates, BJ Cunningham, and Rishard Matthews.

 

I'm surprised Malliciah Goodman transferred to Illinois so late in the season.

Like that they're talking to Brown. When you think about it, Robinson would be a guy that Ireland likes. I'm very interested to see how he does. I know Kiper is very high on him. Thinks he's a 2nd/3rd rounder.

 

And Clowney is going to be the #1 overall pick next year, would've been the #1 overall pick this year, and probably could've gone #4 overall even last year. You can't sit here and use Jadaveon Clowney as "the rule" when he is most clearly "the exception". Yes absolutely at those STRENGTH positions along the lines where guys are physically beating one another up, it does matter that Margus Hunt is a 26 year old MAN with Olympic caliber track and field training and development whereas that right tackle he went against was an 18-19 year old BOY that was an unrated recruit and in over his head.

If it were a cerebral position like quarterback you'd have a point. But this is not that.

 

Would be a good year to trade our first pick for a 2nd + 2014 1st with a team that looks headed for the crapper.

 

Eric Fisher is intriguing. I've yet to see him but everything I hear points upwards in terms of the arrow. I think you're looking at a top 12 pick if he does well this week. I see the boy we all like from Rutgers, Mr Green weighed in at a good size but disappointing height. Intrigued to see Ryan Nassib this week especially off the back of Russ Lande believing that he could be the number one overall pick.

I'm looking for move guards with smaller than advertised size........so Dalton Freeman of Clemson, Brian Schwenke of Cal, JC Tretter of Cornell, Braxton Cave of Notre Dame, Joe Madsen of West Virginia and the Pugh kid at Syracuse are all on the radar.

 

Plus Dalton Freeman is 6'4 and could probably handle another 15+ pounds and can obviously play center if needed. He's been a rock at Clemson and is a tremendous leader. Extremely high character kid. I was thinking about him a few days ago as a potential late round bargain at guard.
What about Omoregie Uzzi from Ga Tech?

 

Nice to see Ellington's weight up to 197. Andre & Eddie Lacy would make such a nice 1-2 punch.

 

Have seen Fisher multiple times. Very, very good. Much like Joe Staley. Only issue is his pad level, which he can fix.

 

Freeman's had a tough time putting on weight, no?
