"The Miami Dolphins open their veteran minicamp this morning. This is the first and only mandatory event of the offseason for the team, giving the club their one chance to see the entire roster before training camp begins late in July. This also is the one chance the media has to get a look at the team as a whole. Will the Tua Tagovailoa to Jaylen Waddle connection shine? Will Emmanuel Ogbah and Xavier Howard report to minicamp after skipping the voluntary events earlier in the offseason training program?
Minicamp will run from Tuesday through Thursday. The team is allowed to hold two practices for a total of 3.5 hours each day of the minicamp, with the second practice limited to a walkthrough. The Dolphins coaches and players are believed to have made a deal this year to slow down some of the workouts during the offseason training program in order to ensure maximized attendance at all the workouts, avoiding some of the skipped practices from players on other teams around the league.
Falling under the Phase Three rules of the offseason training program, the minicamp can include 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills, but there is no live contact allowed.
Following the end of the minicamp on Thursday, the Dolphins will break until the start of training camp on July 27. The NFL and Dolphins are planning for fans to be allowed to attend this year’s training camp after COVID-19 prevented that last year."

I hope the X situation doesn't overshadow the mini-camp.

Cut Tua!1!!

Great, the last thing we need to see was Tua throwing that many INTs, yeah it's raining and its a mini-camp. that STILL is a lot of bad passes he's putting out there, even if one (or more) or not all his fault.

Since games are not won or lost by what talking heads are talking about, it doesn't matter. -
Sounds like a rough day for Tua...which means absolutely nothing at this point. Lots of players are "mini-camp heroes" in shorts while trying to make a roster.
I'm more concerned with Howard skipping practice and demanding a new contract. While he probably deserves more money, that's just not how it works right after you sign a contract. I have a feeling that he will be traded before preseason if they can't reach an agreement in the next few days. And as much as he means to this defense, it needs to be the next man up if he's being unreasonable.PhinFan1968 likes this. -

I don't see what all the hub-bub's about. It's clear they were trying things they won't be doing on the regular (particularly in that weather, routes are off, ball is very slippery, balance is out of whack, etc.). I mean, if a defense knows you're going deep, what do you expect? So easy to jump routes given that information. According to Tua, they were basically trying to get a bunch of stuff on tape to watch and learn from, throwing into situations they normally probably wouldn't throw into. I mean, ya, they definitely have the potential to play in rainy games in the season...gotta learn it somehow.
