So I came back from being on the road, and I hook up my 360, and put a game in. It makes the normal "game read" sound, but then it just says "open tray" on the dashboard.
I can try to load any game any number of times, and it always reverts back to thinking a game isn't in.
I have heard it could be the lens is dirty (my most likely guess), the pot needs to be calibrated, or the drive/laser is failing in general.
Has anyone else had this problem? What's the easiest thing to do first to try and get it to work again? Any actual help would be appreciated.

I opened the tray, then turned the power off. Turned it right back on, and now it's reading the disc I had put in. I am sure this isn't a long term fix, just funny is all. -
1). Remove the HD and see if the disc is recognized. If so, clear cache on the HD and things will be fine.
2). Lift the front (assuming it's laying flat) up a bit and drop it (don't lift it to high). It could be something is stuck and needs to be dislodged (magnet).
I followed #2 and it works like new. Haven't had an issue since.Stitches likes this. -
Eh, it's dead.
It didn't read discs again today. I took it apart and cleaned the lens, and still got nothing.
Oh well. :( -
Luckily for me, I have a spare 360 laying around that I hooked up so I still got one, but I'd say just call it in... get it fixed. Sounds like its crapped out on you. -
