- Going for it on 4th and short in the first half instead of taking a FG was the difference in the game
- Our defense is still tough when it doesnt count, and soft when it counts.
- The offense needs to be more vertical. The play calling seemed far too focused on lateral movement, which never works against good defenses.
- Having that kick blocked was all Franks fault. He is kicking way too low.

Hahah Franks?
and no Mention of Stills?
C'mon man he cost us 7... no two ways about it. Flashback to the Ginn days.Tin Indian, MAFishFan and resnor like this. -
I like the going for it. I remember people would always get on Tony Sparano for never going for it and always taking the three.

Sorry you can't blame the defense for this. They were great. Giving up 12 points to Seattle? Ultimately it's points allowed that's the best measuring stick. And when it's the offense that's primarily responsible for the 10 minute difference in ToP, don't expect the defense to hold up the entire game.
Offense lost this.
And regarding coaching, Vance Joseph might be the coach we got lucky with. Gase hasn't shown he can fix this offense yet. Of course it's only 1 game so we'll see how the season turns out.Rock Sexton, Puka-head, Dolphins_Time and 1 other person like this. -

Going for it on 4th and short was the right call.

First of all, guys, you can do this every single week. There are always going to be critical plays in games that break your heart or that you casually forget about when they go your way.
The blocked FG was just as much Laremy Tunsil as it was Franks. The Seahawks got through Tunsil and the kick was low. The two things combined to yield a blocked FG.
It's the offense that worries me in the long run. Why didn't the team get more aggressive in the 2nd and 3rd quarter? Why did the offense wait so long before switching things up? You can't put your defense on the field for the entire game by constantly letting the Seahawks kick your teeth in as you run short stuff and hand-off knowing they're going to eat it up.
Tannehill threw for 186 yards today with the highest receiver have 60 yards. That's pretty pathetic even against Seattle.Redwine4all, BigNastyDB13, brandon27 and 1 other person like this. -
Yeah... not mentioning Kenny Stills dropping that easy TD is #1 for me.
I thought we played soft coverage the final drive though. Defense was outstanding all day though. Questionable decisions not to call holding,e specially on that final drive were pretty brutal.
Hopefully Gase sends alot of this tape to NFL head office for review though. -
I think going for it on 4th down was the right call. Though I think it should have been a QB Sneak rather than a handoff.

4th and short is fine, if you called a qb sneak..
Kenny Stills is the biggest loser of the day..Tin Indian, MAFishFan, Shane Falco and 2 others like this. -
We left at least 13 points on the field, pure and simple. The missed 4th down that should have been a sneak. Kenny Stills' dropped TD, the blocked FG...
...while you might say we could have stole one on the road, I kind of feel like Seattle stole one at home. They had more turnovers, and the Dolphins probably outplayed the Seahawks marginally.
This one hurts.Tin Indian, Puka-head, Shane Falco and 1 other person like this. -

I don't think you can call a QB sneak when you watched Steen get blown up multiple times against Atlanta in preseason. I didn't like the 4th down call for the simple reason that it's a low-scoring affair in which 3 point can mean a lot (ahem!) and you're on the road against a good defense with a line that hasn't necessarily given you any particular reason to feel they can gain even a yard when called upon to do so.
Gase showed A TON of faith in the O-line calling that 4th-down play and I for one have no faith in the line right now so I wouldn't have made the call. Easy for me to say, I know. I'm not on the sideline but man, that's a brash call.
Remember Adam, this ain't Denver! ;)brandon27 likes this. -
Four things that most cost Miami the game:
1) Going for it on 4th down in the 1st quarter and not taking the FG.
2) Kenny Stills' drop.
3) Tunsil's gaffe on blocked FG.
4) Defensive breakdown on Seattle's 4th down conversion on their TD drive.
Miami, and this is one of the few times you can say it and mean it, should have had that game put away before that Seattle drive. -

I would have went QB Sneak. He just needed a few inches and the defense was not ready for a qb sneak. There was no one over Steen during that play as well.
I think a line up and quick sneak would have worked.Tin Indian and Killer Bees like this. -

Convenient talking about Tannehill's stats, but they look very different if he has the yards on Stills drop + the td. Those would be respectable numbers against Seattle.
And, AGAIN, Tannehill was getting smashed on most plays.Tin Indian, MAFishFan, Fin D and 1 other person like this. -
Offense sucked, play calling sucked, QB sucked, receivers sucked, oline sucked.

5 carries for 17 yards and 1 TD
If Stills catches, Franks Hits FG/Tunsil blocks, and Gase takes the FG early the Dolphins actually put up 23 points.
Not saying it was a great performance, very blah at times. But if a couple simple (very, very simple) plays are executed... its a different result.
Also, aside from the Tannehill bashing, the run game s very static and uninspiring too.resnor and Shane Falco like this. -
Im not gonna put any blame on Tannehill in this one after what Kenny Stills did..
Cant give blame to the defense either, allowed a game winning touchdown but if youre only giving up 12 points, then they did their job.
Gase did not have this offense prepared for the crowd noise. Im going to have to give him the bulk of the blame here.resnor, Shane Falco and Silverphin like this. -

Are you more upset that stills dropped tannehills first ever accurate deep pass? Or more upset that every vertical pass for the rest of the game was uncatchable?

You have to add up the credit/blame for all the plays in the game, not just the ones in the last 2 minutes! I mean.. the way you state that the amount of blame is the same even if there were 4 pick 6's and a safety on either side of the ball.BigNastyDB13 likes this. -
