Of course he's pissed off. He was pissed off in a game we won this year because he didn't get enough carries.
But nah... his attitude isn't a problem apparently. It's the coaches ego, or something else, right?
Coach in Philly comes out today though and of course, brushes it off... No, no.. he's fine. Talked to him this morning. He's fine. Sounds alot like what had happened here last year.dolphin25, Irishman, ripper1961 and 4 others like this. -
Ajayi is a playmaker, he wants the ball, that's completely understandable. However, the guy seems to overlook the big picture. He's playing on a team that has a decent chance at a Super Bowl run. Maybe....just maybe they are saving him for bigger games against bigger competition, as opposed to risking an injury against the Bears who they trounced. He's undoubtedly going to be their feature back next season. Eagles are smart to use Blount as much as they do.

'seemed to be' that's how we evaluate things in this country now a days lol. I would be unhappy too if I was an elite RB and loved to play football. Gee, what a crazy man.
I see Gase fans want to throw him under the bus as fast as Gase himself did. And even if he was a 'problem' that is not how you deal with problem 'attitudes' if you're a coach worth your salt.
Until further notice, the Dolphins traded away a top-tier RB for chicken scraps, as they've been known to do with talent for quite awhile now. -
This whole thing seems like a slow news day in Philly. He didn't say anything wrong, coach confirms he isn't doing anything wrong. Somebody felt like Jay doesn't have a right to "seem" upset. This is a sports journalist who is trying to use Jay's past to predict a pattern and get a jump on a story. He wants to be the guy that calls it first, and if it never happens nobody will remember his stupid comments in 2 months.
As soon as Jay took off the Dolphins uniform, he became just another player in the NFL to me, but there is literally no reason that I can see, that we as Dolphins fans should be hoping that Jay falls apart in Philly, the kid still ran with passion when he ran the ball for us. Not everything has to be black and white, hero and villain. -

after the chi game, if you remove his longest run from each game he's averaging 2.2 yards per carry. He's homerun or nothing. not something you can have from a starting running back. you need consistency. honestly with those numbers, i'm glad he's gone.

Who knows though....maybe they're all bums too and the entire Philly organization should be fired as well.Irishman likes this. -

But you don't have to wait to see how things turn out bc the offense dramatically improved after the trade. You'd be a fool to think that was just a coincidenceKeyFin likes this. -

philly was going to have a problem whomever they gave the ball too, didn't blount have an issue in pitt and NE with his carries?
I think once playoffs starts these guys will get equal carries and whomever is succeeding they will go with, this really isn't an issue I see for philly. I bet they are bringing him around slowly so in the playoffs no one knows what there gonna do with ajayi. and if that's true that's super smart. -

It would come down to film study though to actually count how many times he deliberately ignored his blocking assignment and I'm just not going to do that for a non-Dolphin to prove a point that most people here already consider obvious. You might forget that I've written a detailed review of every game this year and in all but one game, it was a topic I harped on since it was a repeating issue. The Finest and Irishman like this. -
For total passing yards and total yards, you can't directly observe the relative influences of different possible factors. For that the approach I'm suggesting for testing is the best I can think of given the available information. -
Didn't sound like anything to me.

You're half right on the other part though- Williams was not blocking well when he was in a very limited role....he's not a natural blocker at all. But once Ajayi was fired and he got promoted, he's been DOMINANT as a blocking back by completely laying people out. He just run blocks behind the line of scrimmage and it's awesome to watch. Drake is doing the same thing so it's obviously something they're coached to do and loving every minute of it.
Again- there's a proposed bet.....$1,000 and I'll give you 100 to 1 odds. You might want to re-watch game 2, 3 or 5 though before sending my wife and I on a weekend getaway in the Bahamas. He gave up multiple sacks in each of those contests.danmarino, Irishman, Fin D and 1 other person like this. -
Because that's some of what we know was done by the coach, and guess what, the player didnt care, or get it. So what do you do? Just let him do whatever he wants? No, you can't do that. Especially when you believe you can be a better offense without him because you can get the ball into your RB's hands out of the backfield, something Ajayi couldnt do well. Just take a look at the statistical improvement without Ajayi above.
This is a player, who the league widely knows has an extremely short shelf life based on his knees. That's why he fell to where we drafted him, that's why he's traded for next to nothing.
Sometimes you just have to cut ties with a guy who's dragging you down, and not getting with the program. Clearly they tried things to get him in line, clearly it didn't work, and that's why he's gone. It's pretty simple really. What more would you rather we have done? They tried the tough way. They tried handling him with kid gloves when he had some success and catered the offense towards him. They tried keeping that again this year, but when the guy only likes to have a couple of plays called for him, and keeps missing his blocking assignments, what more do you do? I'd love to hear it. -

Instead of throwing out data, like throwing out the longest run or something like that, you could just take the median which is insensitive to such extremes. They don't report that of course, but if you calculate the median for Ajayi with the Dolphins and Ajayi with Philly it's in both cases exactly 3 right now.
