sheesh, free agency was a complete bust.

Receiver Anthony Armstrong has been released by the Miami Dolphins. His Tuesday release creates a vacancy on the 53-man roster.

W still have Gaffney! At least we tried Armstrong out; just didn't pan out the way they thought.
-
Gaffney's better, no way around it.

I'm not the kind of guy that throws out the term " cut the guy", but after his performance, I realized that it was his first game in a new scheme, but I thought with the performance that I saw, it was the right move..he did things in that game that were disturbing from a receiver standpoint.

He'll go to the Jets

You're crying over our bottom of the roster WR, after we replaced him with someone better? "rolls eyes"xphinfanx, sws84, BlameItOnTheHenne and 1 other person like this. -
Look no further then what were gonna see this weekend against Indy..Fleener and Allen are a wicked combo...had them neck and neck 1, 1a comin out of the draft, both are on the same team..
I agree doc, I think looking for a compliment to Fasano is the right move for a playoff run..maynard likes this. -
I think we need to be patient with Egnew. There is a long history of receiving TEs that needed a year or two before they really contributed in any significant way, e.g., Shannon Sharpe, Jimmy Graham, Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates, Ben Coates, Jason Witten, Dallas Clark, Jermichael Finley, etc. It's bothersome that Egnew can't even get active on game day, but Finley had only 6 catches as a rookie and it may just be that Philbin is bringing Egnew along slowly much as he did with Finley.unifiedtheory, ssmiami, ToddPhin and 1 other person like this. -
There is always a balancing act that you have to face, but the fact is, Marlon Moore has made more of his chances to play than Anthony Armstrong has made. I want to say this is why you don't bury a young guy on the bench for a marginal veteran, but at the same time, the young guy has to step up and take the bull by the horns when he gets his chance. I think the coaching staff early on felt that Marlon wasn't doing enough in practice to get that opportunity, but at some point in time, he passed Armstrong up on the depth chart and has outproduced him. Going forward, Marlon may be good for 1-2 receptions per game and should have a fairly high average since he can get open down the field.
I think this coaching staff has shown that they are willing to play young players if they show something in practice. -

Trade coming possibly?

Probably for that rb... Grey I think is his name.

Could be that they are making room for Grey… that would make sense. -
Could be making room for the impending Larry Fitzgerald trade… (just saying)

It is a fair criticism that our offseason free agent moves, when evaluated as a whole, were a complete bust. All the FA WRs were cut and Richard Marshall can't get on the field. What free agent did we add that is impacting our team? Lane?

Outside of Richard Marshall, virtually every free agent signing the Dolphins made in the off-season were low-money, one-year deals to players to provide insurance for younger players that were not sure would perform. It was pretty much an inherent part of their deals that they would not be on the roster if they did not need to be.
Gary Guyton was insurance for Koa Misi, Artis Hicks for John Jerry, David Garrard for rookie QB/Matt Moore, Legedu Naanee for our late-round rookies/project receivers.
Think whatever you want about Chad Johnson's talent, but Ireland should not reasonably have had an idea that Johnson would commit career suicide and that Richard Marshall would get hurt.CWBIII, Frumundah Finnatic, jegol71 and 4 others like this. -
I agree with Muck in that I suspect they'll add a practice squad guy. Does anyone have an accurate list of who is actually on the practice squad. The Dolphins page only lists 6 of 8 spots. By my count it consists of:
WRs - Jeff Fuller and David Tyms
TE - Dominique Jones
T - Andrew McDonald
G - Chandler Burden
DE - Louis Nzwegu - was he actually signed or was it just a rumor?
DT - Chas Alexcih
CB - Julian Posey (brother of Texans WR DeVier Posey)
S - Anderson Russell - is he still on the practice squad?
Obviously that's 9 guys when you're only allowed 8, thus my confusion. I know Jones and Posey have been signed in the past two weeks or so, but I have no idea Russell or Nzwegu's actual statuses.Ludacris likes this. -
They released Joe Holland to make room for Dominique Jones. Somewhere in the middle of that they were rumored to have signed Louis Nzegwu to the practice squad - he was previously with the Ravens practice squad I believe. He was a DE at Wisconsin; decent player, but undersized. I think Baltimore was grooming him to play behind Suggs, Kruger, and Upshaw.djphinfan likes this. -
He was a waiver wire pick up officially ;p -
