I know it's Mando but does he have a point here?
I really like our coaching staff and totally trust them but it absolutely puzzles me why coaches in Miami tend to use good players the wrong way (Bush -misuse started with our former staff-, Wallace).
Thoughts?

It's on the coaches to put Wallace in a position to succeed. who cares whether it takes a few more seconds to get ready.

This mistake was signing Mike Wallace, not what came after.
I don't think any of those examples of perceived mis-use make a lot of sense, either.Aquafin likes this. -
second guessing the coaching cadre, makes for lively debate... having said that, I too believe in them & understand that they are privy to information no one else has access to in the NFL or Dolfandom. no pundit can know what their reasons are in the decision-making process. if they screw it up, they will be out of a job... it's just about that simple. don't know how anyone could be displeased or find serious fault in the current regime from head coach to owner. it's good to be able to second guess & critique when no one can hold you responsible for your most ardent opinions. enjoy the season as it unfolds.

Coaches didn't sign him. The primary criticism for the signing should be reserved for the front office.

Quite a rant there. Jeez.
Pessimists like him always referring back to 2-3 years ago to prove points about this years team. We're just hitting the stretch run here. People are looking for things to complain about when we're 3-1. Grow a pair.GMJohnson likes this. -
Mike needs to quit listening to the media and stop putting pressure on himself to live up to the $60M contract. If he is always thinking about why he is or isn't having big games he is going to continue to play tight and "stress out" about not having big games. Dude just needs to go play, let his natural talent come out, and to hell with everything else. If he has an issue with how he is being used, talking about it in the press won't fix it. He just needs to take that up with the coaching staff. If I were Philbin I'd just tell him to quit worrying about press clippings, keep working with his coaches, and have fun.
-
They need to take the approach they did in the Indy game and get him involved early and often with some short and intermediate routes. That should go a long way towards getting Tannehill comfortable too so he can completely forget about last week.
-
Should trade him

Mike Wallace is an abyss.

4-1 with limited output from MW would be fantastic. He's doing things for our offense that doesn't go onto his stat sheet. Wish we'd get him involved like the Colts game however. Screens, crossing routes, come backs etc.

The guy is hungry for the ball, I can't blame him - He want's to prove his worth and put up numbers, I will take that any day over someone who doesn't care and just collects a paycheck. As far as the coaches, you've got to find ways to get your talent the ball, and although I really like Philbin, I have not been too happy with Sherman and his consistency on play calling. Yes, there are some flashes of a dynamic offense, then some old school play calling that reminds me of what we have seen from Miami for the last decade. It's great Ryan and Brian have a good connection, it will always be there - now find ways to get Mike the ball, utilize his talent.

Well it does make me wonder how they use players seeing Reggie Bush in Detroit, who clearly are utilizing him much better than Miami did. Regardless of his drops in NOLA, they should try and get more creative with Wallace.

It's still pretty early to write off Wallace. RTH and him are still developing their timing. RTH spent all of last season developing timing with receivers that had nowhere near the speed that Wallace does. RTH has been off on a few deep throws to him that could make this a completely different story.
-
I want to see if were gonna be more multiple this week, Sherman and Tannehill have been together enough where we should be utilizing the whole playbook...I don't understand this exclusive work from the pocket with very limited misdirection, and very limited pocket mobility..

Armando Salguero: Miami Dolphins’ offense in deep trouble with Mike Wallace
A good head coach should not say this
“There’s different ways of doing it. I don’t know if there is any downside. That’s just a decision we made, and that’s how we do it. I don’t know if there is a specific downside to it.”
You don't know the cons of a major offensive philosophy decision before or after making it?
Second WTF moment I'm having with this staff. This one much bigger and more troubling than the Daniel Thomas being good belief that they publicly defend.
If these guys fail it will be their own fault.Muck likes this. -
Wallace will be either cut, or traded in a year or two for a mid-round pick. That's generally how our high priced free agents have fared over the past several years

I'm sorry, but I'm not one to just blindly and/or completely trust the coaches.
I understand they have reasons for what they do. But that doesn't mean those reasons are always going to be sound or correct.
The infamous 3rd and a chain link outside run from last week? Everybody in the world thought it was a horrible idea except the coaches. I was livid, weren't you? Afterward, Joe Philbin said he knew that would be the call in that situation, it was something they wanted to do going in and he had no problem with it. That's great, but you were the only people in the world who thought that and it was a disaster. Frankly I found his explanation offensive and perhaps troubling. They have no problem outsmarting themselves.
This is the same staff that decided not to use Reggie Bush in space. Detroit is sure glad they are.
It's the same staff that limits Lamar Miller and gives equal/more time to Daniel Thomas.
It's the same staff that kept Odrick at RE, only to watch him blossom inside.
It's the same staff that continues telling us Olivier Vernon is this really dynamic player who should start at RE.
It's the same staff that went away from the run game at Indy when it was working beautifully.
Again, they have their reasons for not moving or motioning receivers, but we're seeing it affect the team's most explosive player. And it was not a mistake to sign Mike Wallace. He didn't just become an invisible player on his own. He's drawing coverage, yes. But you're not giving him opportunities the way Pitt did. And to do that, you need to get him on the move. And that's something you want to do because he can be a big YAC guy, which is something Joe Philbin stressed as an area needed for improvement in the offseason. YAC and speed outside. That's what you wanted and that's what this guy is proven to possess.
When you have a player with an elite skill and you aren't able to utilize it, that speaks to coaching. Especially when his last team was able to and you aren't. And it's not as if this offensive coordinator hasn't been criticized for this kind of thing in the past.
Great coaches adjust to the players on their roster and put them in position to be their best. So says the legend who did that here for 26 years. If we want to see what an aggressive offense that prides itself on creating and exploiting mismatches looks like, pop on the tape from Monday night. That's how it's done.
Expect more. -
If coaches don't use him at that fee, GM would be well advised to trade him. -
-
The article should just be the starter for a healthy discussion about the question if Wallace is used the right way and that the offense might become too predictable down the road by lining up the receivers at the same spot on every single play! -
Calling it now, mike walled gets a screen earlyfor a TD. 64 yards with clay on the sealing block
-
-
Wallace isn't being used right, but he's not playing well either. The saints game was more his fault then anyone else's IMO.

Re: Armando Salguero: Miami Dolphins’ offense in deep trouble with Mike Wallace
Mike Wallace himself says he's worried. Second time in four weeks he's expressed concern. And Salguero gets a text from a team employee saying he's not surprised because they don't emphasize getting him the ball deep in practice.
It's important we not to bury our heads on the sand on negative issues. I shared many of these concerns before this article. They exist.

We have wartime media that don't know what to write when the team is doing well. I imagine it will take some time for then to adjust.

Is it too early to call this a BIG game? I don't think so .
Whether we should be 3 and 1 or not , we are . Losing to NO in NO won't be a major blip if we take care of business today . If we have a 4 and 1 record playing whom we have , I don't care if the stats say we are somewhat lucky to reflect our record ... Statement time imo .
