Claims there is a disconnect between the front office and coaching staff when it comes to Tannehill.
This should give us some insight into the coaching search in the offseason. Personally, I think you should give the incoming coach the ultimate authority to determine the position.. Taking such a strong stance may scare away a potential candidate that may not buy into Tannehill as a top 10 QB

Good. That means they will be all in on getting some coaches that will work with tannehill, not against. Right or wrong, atleast we will have no debate the next few seasons.

Let him hit on 30 td's, that is the bar

Interesting article. The question is whether Armando's getting accurate information there. Does the Dolphins front office REALLY think Tannehill is a better long-term prospect than Cam Newton?? He claims that's what they told him, but whether that's what they really believe is another story, and I'm not convinced that's what they really believe.
The quotes from the coaches were useful too. Basically shows they don't think Tannehill can process information fast, i.e. he doesn't have much football smarts. At least it's comforting to know they think Tannehill isn't that smart a QB (shows coaches aren't THAT dumb).Finster likes this. -
But if this is more of a "build a roster for this year" thought exercise, the selections are more understandable.
As for the coaching staff, most of them will not be here next year, and their opinions can be safely disregarded. -
This all reminds me a bit of the Jay Cutler debate.
Just from what I'm seeing from Tannehill, he appears like a really frustrated Qb
2 td's per game, on avg, will have him knocking on the 30 td club, to me that is where the rubber meets the road -

I think Armando uses a ton of conjecture there. I didn't read anything new in any of that..hes just trying to connect dogs to get them to lead somewhere

How bad will tannehill play against a divisional opponent this time?
-
Of course the front office is going to sit there and back up their 1st round draft pick who is still starting at the moment. Especially mid season. It is more telling how the coaches don't have a lot of confidence in him.
-
Better question is, how bad will the team play against another divisional opponent?
-
If that is accurate we officially have the DUMBEST front office in the NFL. You almost could argue the age factor with a couple guys then you see a Cam Newton and are forced to just shake your head and prepare to keep being a crappy franchise.

I see nothing earth shattering in this article. The front office is backing and showing confidence in their quarterback. That's what they should be doing.

To me, Tannehill is miscast in this style of offense, as in wildly miscast.
Remember the up tempo/no huddle offense Lazor was supposed to install?
Yeah, that was fun..never saw it out on the field.
IIRC THill's magic number of passes is 35, below that number he is quite good, instead the offense features Miller maybe getting 12 carries and Tannehill pass pass pass, which does not mesh will with our offensive line *cough* talent, nor Tannehill at this point strengths....
We've watched him improve his deep passing tremendously this season, to me that also means he will sharpen up as a passer as he gains more experience especially in the right offense.adamprez2003 likes this. -
No one I trust more than our staff and FO to evaluate the QB position. Great track records, all.
My issue with sticking only with Tannehill is that, in doing so, you're expecting him to progress in a very very uncommon manner. You're expecting him to be an exception to the rule. QBs hardly ever get suddenly good after their first 3-4 years. If they haven't flashed a really good season by then, odds are they never will, let alone consistently. By that point you generally are who you are. Looking around the League at who you'd take over him is a small part of the thinking; you need to ask how you can find/develop a great QB.
Look at Drew Brees. Ups and downs in SD, injuries, etc...but in his 3rd year as a starter he had the 3rd-highest passer rating in the League. Flashed legit hi-end potential. People who are surprised by Cam's 2015 success I guess forgot his rookie season when he was a total force (OROY, pro bowl, 35 TDs, boosted CAR by +4 in the W column). Those are the kinds of track records and guys you should be gambling on with a high projection.
Projecting great things from a guy who has shown it before is one thing; projecting greatness from a guy who has never shown it before is, imo, foolish. And waiting for someone to become an exception to the rule is an even bigger mistake. -
They're not drafting a quarterback high this year, and I'm not sure why people think that's even marginally realistic for a lot of reasons.
-
Eli Manning, Drew Brees, Tony Romo, Rivers are all better than Tannehill that's not even remotely debatable. Bortles and Bridgewater are on his level but Bortles is showing something lately.dolphin25 likes this. -

And we wonder why we are a joke in this league....................Look squarely at the front office if this article is accurate.
