These are only a few, Denver media is spreading this like wild fire.
-
any reputable other than a tv sportscaster and a fansite trashing McCoy?
-
Not the big name coach i was expecting a month ago.
Mr Ireland should be able to tell him whatever he wants.

I like the fact that he is young, hungry, and supposedly smart with good leadership qualities. I am not crazy about the fact that one of his major influences is Dan Henning. People go on and on about how he is a John Fox guy, and while he did coach on Fox's staffs, I guess people are forgetting that Fox is a defensive guy. Most defensive coaches are going to be in favor of playing a ball control, ground and pound type offense- just like we had with Wannstedt.
You can pretty much throw out stats and what they did in Denver this season with Tebow, since the offense had to be catered to his very limited skillset. He has shown he has the ability to adjust, or at least that he is open to the idea. I just hope he is ready to open it up rather than run his offense like Dan Henning. The bottom line is that a lot of times, it almost doesn't matter who the head coach is, and enough people don't realize it. Ok, I take that back somewhat. It matters, but often not quite to the degree that people think. If you have a good QB, players that buy into what you're selling, and a good coaching staff in place, you are going to be successful. -

I can't say I'm all that excited about this choice because I really don't know much about him, I'm in a 'wait and see' mode about this hire, as a fan I hope he's the best guy for the job. Hopefully he and Ireland find the Qb of the future and we build the offense around him and solve the problems we've been having on offense since Marino retired. We have a lot of talent on offense, if we can fix the line and Moore plays well we can be a solid team next year while we groom a young Qb. Maybe Moore is the answer, who knows but really we need to solidify the line and Qb position or the coach doesn't matter all that much.

Where do people get this Ross want's one and Ireland want's the other idea from? It seems like some people dislike them so much, they make stuff up just to keep the hate going.

The fact is that hiring a new head coach is really a crap shoot. The vast majority of the new head coaches hired in any season are fired within the next 3-4 years. For every Belichick, or Harbaugh, there are a dozen former head coaches who are now back coaching as assistants or are no longer coaching at all.
It all comes down to the head coach having the talent on the roster to actually win the majority of the games during the season. Right now the Dolphins have enough talent on the roster to win the games against the other bottom tier teams in the league. They don't have the QB or the overall talent on the roster to win games against the better teams in the NFL. Unless there is a severe upgrade in talent and a much better QB added to the roster in the next couple of years, the new head coach named sometime this week will be the former head coach in just a few years. -

Per mando, it is down to McCoy v Bowles, and McCoy went back to Denver, Ross is landing in Miami today around 11 am for his usual weekender in South Florida

Ain't happening...I look for the Phins to retain Daboll.

I have heard Mike McCoy talk about this particular coach though as having a great deal of influence on his career, and the coach he mentioned was a guy that coached him when he played in the CFL. George Cortez, who is a passing guru that developed Aaron Rodgers at California. Cortez is currently the head coach of the Hamilton Tiger Cats.Trowa, sws84, Rocky Raccoon and 2 others like this. -
I preferred Philbin, but if its McCoy that's fine. For me it was basically the difference between someone offering you $100 or $95. All I really cared about in this coaching search was that it wasn't Fisher or Mularkey.
Now....go get us a mutha ****ing QB.ToddsPhins, Trowa, Stitches and 1 other person like this. -
I'm more excited to find out who he brings on as assistant coaches. And yes to FinD, let's get a quarterback!!!!!

Are we potentially hiring a guy, just because he squeezed 8 miracles out of Tim Tebow, including an improbably upset over a decimated Pittsburgh team? Please tell me there's more substance to this hire.
-
Granted he had Tebow but this guy ran games into the ground with his playcalling then opened up in the 4th week after week... If he in fact called the plays then he plays to not lose the game, we've had plenty of those coaches around here. Lets play to win.

Wow. Denver fans are delusional as ****. They actually think someone was holding Tebow back.

How much can u seriously open your offense up with an inaccurate QB? -
-
McCoy played to his strengths, which was the run game. How can he be blamed for that? -
Use that recycled, copy and pasted rebuttal on someone else. You'd be content hiring Paul Ruebens. -

You know.....this thought just crossed my mind.
If there are so many people that know exactly what will and wont work for the Phins......
Why do we have such a hard time being an elite franchise. I mean....if you read many of the posts here and elsewhere....so many fans already know our McCoy is gonna suck...and we will be drafting Barkley.
So many experts, youd think Ross would have no problems putting a Championship team on the field.... -
