Yeah, Grier isn’t smart and this another example. Our off-season plan lead to an early off-season. I’ll never understand that trade and think it was a mistake.

It actually looks like it can be viable at the NFL level based on this:

But if you're restricted to it because you can't throw downfield for whatever reason (QB, offensive line, receivers, etc.), then you better have receivers who can take those short passes and get the yardage necessary for adequate pass efficiency in the NFL. If not, then yes it doesn't seem adequate at the NFL level.

Of all the things they have done wrong or may have I less bothered by this. At least they have a really good player out of it.

    That’s a fair point

My problem is it’s flawed thinking in a long line of flawed thinking. I don’t think a WR is worth 2 top 15 picks, especially when they get used as a glorified possession receiver. I think he’ll be fine and probably be very good for us.

But football is built from the inside out. That’s one of my problems with how Grier has built this team. We’ve got great Cb’s, an emerging elite S, a young WR who showed a lot of promise, a TE/WR who presents match up problems and a WR who makes amazing catches when he’s healthy. Those things are nice luxuries when you’ve got a good OL, franchise QB or a dominant front 7. We have neither of those things.

This draft had pieces to fix those areas. Two of them are pro bowlers and all-pro. I would have rather had Sewell or Slater. Or Parsons whose proven to be an absolute game wrecker.

I know we can’t go back in time and make different decisions. I just can’t get over how bad Grier is and why he’s still employed.

This, Grier is an absolute idiot football wise. He has a job only because he is an expert smoocher and *** kisser and got his opportunity through his dad's connections.

At this point the only move that really interests me is signing Jim Harbaugh and giving him full controll over football matters, including drafting and personnel. Get Grier out of here or relegate him to just negotiating contracts and trades.

I think you make sure good points however I do not agree with you

I think Waddle is special and is with where he was picked. I thunk that trade was brilliant and that Grier made the right bet.
You don't bet against your own team.
Even with a time machine I would make the trade and make the picks he did in the first round.

Yeah but try to imagine how bad the offense would have been without Waddle.

Grier has some good picks and has done an overall ok job but ok isn't cutting it. Dolphins have been ok for 20 years.

exactly! What coach wants to come into that? I would think the only coach interested in that would be someone we really don't want.

Disagree. Flores made enemies and messed up in building an offense. Screwed over his friends. Who on offense is going to want to work with him

And imagine how much better it could've been if The Clown had drafted Najee Harris instead of Phillips. But that would mean that they actually put value on the RB position.

That’s true. I’m not mad about Waddle. He’ll be good.

I just try to imagine what this offense would look like with Chase, had we stayed at 3, who I wanted. He’s a generational talent.

What if we stayed at 12 and got Waddle, Smith, Slater or Parsons. Two of those players are all-pro. We’d have 2 1st round picks this year. Maybe we could finally fix our OL or trade up for an elite DE.

What would our offense look like with Sewell or Slater? Tua would have time. We’d have a much more functional run game. Would Tua have gotten injured? Maybe Bateman or Moore are our next picks to help move the ball.

I know, ifs and buts. But this is how I evaluate our Gm. And I don’t think he should be our GM. The only 2 picks he’s made in the 1st round that are pro bowlers aren’t on our team anymore. That’s part of the problem.

Made enemies with who exactly? The players seemed to rally around him. I don't think you finish the season the way you did if the players hate the coach. I'm not really worried about coach hurting anyones feelings, his job is to win. Obviously if he abuses a player that would be different, but that never seemed to be the case. Some of what is coming out is he hurt Griers feelings and owners feelings and wanted more input in players. I do not see an established coach coming to the Dolphins.

Well have to agree to disagree. Which is part of what make these discussions fun.

There’s not one WR in the NFL I’d trade 2 top 15 picks for. As we saw this year, 104 receptions doesn’t matter if you can’t block, can’t stop top teams on defense and have to rely on back up QB’s to win multiple games. It’s a luxury and when you aren’t a playoff team and aren’t competitive with the top team in your division, you can’t afford luxuries until you have the foundation built.

Some players are happy he left.

We just finished that way with a lot of the players not rallying with the coach.

Plus who is going to run the offense next year with him?

His bad relationships have been known for a while. He was not going to build an offense

Finally something you and I agree on. Pass rushers have substantially more positional value than a RB. Unless you have a franchise QB, if you can’t rush the passer, RB’s don’t mean much in terms of wins or Super Bowls.

We still can build a foundation next season and have a top weapon.

Also if the Dolphins signed Karras and didn't trade Flowers I bet the line wouldn't have been completely terrible

I think Waddle is special. I like having special players on the team

I know who the perfect coach would be for this team since we need a really nice coach who does not offend anyone or hurt anyones feelings.
He is also a know winner, a champion.
    He is a known leader.
He knows and is familiar with the area.
He also knows multiple offenses and how to implement them.
He is really a super nice guy.
He knows how to work with left handed QB's and gets the most out of their talent.
He knows how to communicate well, and is really nice.
The next ideal perfect coach for the Miami Dolphins would be......
    Tim Tebow.

I am picturing Rondale Moore as this teams #1 and grimacing. He may develop to a really good WR but right now he isn't in the same universe as Waddle.

Minkah not being on the team is Flores fault.

Moore is not the route runner that Waddle is.

Waddle is a complete wide reciever with elite quickness and speed.

This was taken out of context. I’m not saying I’d rather have Moore than Waddle. I don’t think that can even be argued.

I’m saying I’d rather have one of the best LT’s in the game(Slater) and Moore over Waddle. Or for that matter, Parsons and Moore over Waddle.

I totally forgot about him. Miami definitely made him look pretty good no question there.

You said pro bowlers he picked that aren't the team. Minkah is one of them and its not Griers fault he is gone. At least not directly.

YEEEESSSSS! Bring Tebowmania back to Miami! He can be head coach and QB2! Plus Ross would love it.

I mean, we'd probably never win another game, but we'd have a higher power on our side.

And stuff like that is the reason we haven’t been relevant in quite some time. We‘ve been pretty good in the draft and free agency until Jimmy left but never really great (except the early day Dolphins). Since Pornstache took over things just went downhill and since then we’re not even a play-off team and definitely not talking Super Bowl…

He didn't say how much better the team would be, just the offense. So talking about defensive picks isn't really applicable.

I think the premise is that he learned from Saban and got considerably better. I think you gotta let people grow.

I think a lot of football is "what have you done for me lately." The pro about this is that allows for people to get better. The con is that you get recency bias.

Cardinals are fixing to get boatraced here. And is it just me, or does Kyler Murray actually kind of suck?

If the Rams pile it on, I hope it crosses Vance Joseph off our list. But damn, wouldn't it be the SOL thing to hire a dude from a team that collapsed?

That pick-6 Murray threw was almost comical...I'm not sure it was even a pass (looked more like a volleyball serve). I know he was under a lot of pressure all game long, but he had very little composure out there and even less accuracy. In short, he looked like a complete bust.

Murray's recent performance has a lot do to with this:

This is why the Dolphins need a go-to player of that nature, whether it develops in Waddle or it's another player. The best teams in the league have QB/receiver combos that facilitate their pass offenses. Rodgers/Adams, Mahomes/Kelce, Allen/Diggs, Brady/Evans, Stafford/Kupp. You need the QB and the stud go-to guy if you want to be most likely to compete at the highest level. Burrow/Chase are the next in line.

I found it hilariously ironic because Stafford did something quite similar back in the middle of the season. To see the Rams be the beneficiary of a similar play in the playoffs was funny. As soon as he started his "throwing" motion my brain marked it as a pick 6 for that reason.
