High praise indeed MelbourneP, he has the tools to play for us, even if it is 3rd down pass rusher or ST daemon.

Derrick Rodgers was maybe 25 when we drafted him, and Wake C is a heck of alot more athletic then Rodgers was.

very nice! alot of cash for him... but the guy's been tearing apart the CFL, and with the ability of this FO to have an eye for talent, its pretty exciting to see this news. Hopefully he works out well for us, it would indeed be just like an extra/early draft pick like melbourne said..

What gives me at least a little bit of confidence in this addition is Jeff Ireland. Ireland has a knack for finding late round talents and picking guys up off the practice squad.

 

just saw it on the ticker on a canadian sports channel, so pumped to see it was with the phins. But a 4 year deal! they must of been damn impressed.

Two time CFL DOPY, he had 22 sacks last year, and 18 the year before, there are some youtube vids of his skills, like a 40 inch vertical leap.

Every CFL player, unless maybe the Qb, has to play on Special Teams, our Coaches are pretty keen on newbies playing on that unit and Wake has done that before in the CFL.

Keep in mind though, not alot of miles on his tires, he was with the Giants for 1 season on the practice squad, but other then that, not a ton of games played.

 

His work ethic and attitude is what excites me about him, and judging by a 4 yr deal, I think our FO felt the same.

 

Does anyone have stats of the league leaders in the CFL? I just want to compare and contrast. Obviously 23 is impressive, especially with two real downs in the cfl.
