He is the guy that helped you guys beat us in Lambeau a few years ago. He can kick in our stadium and he has shown that. What do you guys think of us picking him up? Is he a good kicker in the clutch or is he not as good? I think were in for a tough year, brutal schedule. We need a reliable kicker. Crosby is losing it.

Yes you can

Good cold weather kicker

I like him, we went cheaper/younger. Doesnt mean hes not a good kicker, he is. I would bring him in.
Plus, he'd be closer to his home in Detroit Rock City :shifty:dolfan7171, unluckyluciano and Aqua4Ever04 like this. -
Hopefully he wouldn't hurt us worse then Crosby is.

You guys want Finley. I wouldn't mind our former starts going to Miami. I like helping a team like the Dolphins whom I like rather then a hated rival.

I'd love Finley for the right price.

You can pickup Carpenter, and trade for Egnew in return for Finley.

Carp is a good kicker, he had a couple bad games for us, but he's still pretty good.
-
Tannehill to Finley would be a good combo. He is kind of a cancer though.
-
I think you guys will win your division. Pats are falling apart even before the season has started. It is setting up to be exciting for the Fins. I hope I am right.

Pats lost Hernandez and Welker. That will hurt them bad.

NVM, bad numbers

Carp hasn't been the same for the last two years, but he'd be better than what you got from Crosby. He's pretty consistent and clutch on anything 40 yards or less, but longer kicks have been far less consistent the last two years. Otherwise seems like a good guy. I'd imagine most everybody here would wish him well.

What was Carpenter's percentage for kicking last year?
-
-
If I were the Packers I would pick up Carpenter, he's a below average kicker but he's much better than Crosby. Best of luck to the Pack, if I had an NFC team it would be them or Brees
-
Crosby I think missed 15 kicks last year. I would never want you guys to get Crosby either. He is the worst kicker in GB history.

Not matter what anyone says here, based on his averages, last year, he was a middle of the road kicker. 81.5%. 24th in the league for kickers who kicked in at least 8 games. He cost us two games last season by missing what would have been game winning FGs. Under good conditions too. Once in Arizona and once at home vs the Jets.
With your offense, as many TDs as you score, he'd be under less pressure, so Carpenter should be ok. Coming from Montana, he has a lot of experience kicking in cold weather.Tin Indian likes this. -
Brady is 36....it won't be to much longer and he'll be moving on.
Someone should remind him how hot is wife is and how nice retirement is.PhinsRock and dolfan7171 like this. -

Carpenter is a choke artist. He can be iced and once his confidence is rattled he struggles to stay out of a slump. I am glad he was cut. I wish him the best and all that but he is not a first choice in kickers.

One game does not make a career. He is a mediocre kicker who misses clutch kicks. I don't hate the guy its just my observation of him. He is not very good.

I think Carp has some good years left...he had a poor year last year, comparatively speaking (for his normal), but the savings of more than $2 M in cap/salary combined with Sturgis' ability and leg equaled his getting cut...they cut him early enough that he'll catch on somewhere...He's good enough...PhinsRock likes this. -

24th out of 31th, ouch maybe we don't want him.

I think he may be your only option. However he arguably cost us a playoff spot and did cost us a winning record.

The two playoff teams which which seem to be interested in Carpenter are the Packers and the Seahawks. While I think the Green Bay area is a nice place. I happen to think Seattle is one of the best cities to live in the United States.
I imagine it will come down to who offers him the best contract, but if the contracts are similar, it wouldn't surprise me if Carpenter decides to sign with Seattle.
