Closet nut hugging Patriot fans masquerading as Dolphins fans that don't know you're supposed to hate division rivals and rejoice in their failures should find another sport to watch, IMHO. Winter Olympics is here, maybe they would be into curling?

 

How dare we celebrate a loss from our rival....

We suck, it's just fun watching them suck too. Even if it's only for 60 minutes.

 

Regardless of what we do it's always fun to see Brady and the pats struggle.

I think not. I've been a Dolphins fan for decades, but Tom Brady is one of the best QBs ever and actually should have six rings- the three he has plus the two that he should have won against the Giants and the year when the Pats lost to the Colts in the AFC championship game. It wouldn't have bothered me in the least if Brady and the Pats won another SB this year- the only thing that owuld have bothered me a little is Patriots fans, who can be douches. But I rarely run into them them anymore, so whatever.

Of course I root for the Dolphins against the Pats, that's a given. But once the Dolphins are out of it, I have no problem with deserving teams winning it all- and yes, that's with the whole cheating scandal aside, granted. I'll be fine if Manning and the Broncos win it or San Fran, but I'm not all that big a fan of Pete Carroll, Golden Tate or Richard Sherman- if not for them I'd probably want new blood like Seattle to win it all.

 

What is all this "we shouldn't," "how dare we,"...speak for yourself.

I personally loved watching them get smacked...I don't care about injuries, I don't care about roster...Bellicheat and Marcia are still there, so I love it!

You dont win it all, your season is a failure. Failure is the same whether you are 1-15 or 17-1 like the Patriots were a few seasons ago. Every season Tom gets older and is denied another title....I love it.

 

That's fine. I've been a Dolphins fan since the early to mid 70's and I was born and raised down here, so I don;t have to show a Dolphins loyalty card to anyone. We had a hell of a run in the very early 70's, which I was too young to recall, my first defined memory was the playoff loss to the Raiders in 1974- that opening kickoff return by Nat Moore for a TD that got my Mom so excited, that crazy TD pass from Stabler that made me run to my room and cry- we had our run, including some great years in the 80's that were a blast, including seeing live the '85 AFC championship game where Marino carved up the Steelers, amazing.

The point is, the Pats had a heck of a run since about 2000, and it easliy could have been a lot better- 2 crazy late passes from Eli Manning and a major blown opportunity against the Colts, they would have won that SB easy- for those who don't think that they have been a great run organization for the last 15 years- I'll just disagree. And if we're out of it and they win, that's fine. To each his own.

What a load of crap. If you're 2-14 as opposed to 14-2 but don't win the Super Bowl those seasons are equally failures? Don;t tell that to the coaches who went 2-14 as their a**es are kicked out the door.

 

What I'm saying is that they should have won the whole thing the year that they lost to the Colts in the AFC championship game, they should have won in the first loss to the Giants with that redic helemt catch by David Tyree at the end and they probably should have won the second game against the Giants, even with Gronk out. They did get quite lucky in the first SB run agianst the Raiders and maybe against the Rams iirc, but regardless, they could easily have won six SBs instead of three.

 

Yes they are equal failures. The only consolation for the 14-2 team is knowing you will probably have a chance next season. Our season would have been as much a failure had we made the playoffs and lost first round as it was the way we went out.

You don't get a consolation prize for winning. You win or you don't but there is no in between. Not to say as fans we wouldnt enjoy winning more, but in the end no title is no title.

 

That is just ridiculous. Are you old enough to remember when we went to the Super Bowl in the 80's twice? That was a heck of a lot better than not going to the Super Bowl. Compare 1982 or 1984 Dolphins years and equate them to years of going 2-14 or something comparably putrid- again, ridiculous. Just look at this year- it would have been far better to actually make the playoffs, forget about the SB, than go out as we did at the end of the year and whiff on the playoffs- if you can't see that, then there's not a whole lot more to say.

 

Sorry but I call BS. SB and playoff appearances are so coveted that you'll find a fans of any teams bragging or reminiscing about years where they came close but did not win it all. Only 1 team wins it all every year...so if even 2nd place means nothing that in this fickle, impatient North America pro-sports wouldn't be as popular or as profitable.

Jacksonville has a fanbase...a team that has never won a SB has a strong following partly because they used to be good once upon a time. Playoff-good, not SB good or SB champions.

I suppose I'm not a Dolphins fan then because I couldn't care less whether the Patriots won or lost today. I don't care about anyone other than my team.

 

I honestly don't get any pleasure in the Patriots winning or losing unless it's against us, then obviously I would want to win. But once we're eliminated it doesn't matter to me anymore. A decade ago it was different but now that I see we have our own problems and can't even get to the playoffs, it gives me no joy seeing the fail. I would have loved to be in the AFC Championship game and lose 63-7 against the Broncos than not score more than 7 points in the last two games and get eliminated.

It's ridiculous really, when you think about it, other than the Browns and the Bills, is there a team with less playoff games the past 15 years than the Dolphins? Jesus..

 

When they went 18-1, I was bathing in their tears. That meant something. But rival or not, they had an impressive season. 12-4, AFC championship game, in what's considered an off year. A tumultuous season. It was very impressive. I'm not feeling the hate today.

Part of me was hoping Brady and Bellichick would just win one more Superbowl so hopefully they'd go and retire and gtfo of the league.

Gronk played in the second game against the Giants. Still, when are people going to stop saying "with a healthy Gronk, the Pats would/could..." That's like me saying "when I win the lottery..." The odds are in the same ballpark.

They should have lost the tuck rule game. That one is too easy.

They should have lost to the Panthers, because go back and look at the way they were blocking Julius Peppers the whole game, with no flags. There, I have it down to one ring. They "should" have won one ring. This is fun.

We should change the way we look at Brady, whom we always see as more "clutch" than Peyton. Peyton is 2-1 vs. Brady in AFC Championship games, and has a better AFCCG winning percentage overall than Brady. We won't, though, because we're too busy "respecting" Brady to do that.

 

It's one thing to be indifferent about Patriots winning or losing. I guess I can understand that, kind of. What I don't get is the people who feel the need to defend them. To take issue with those who are acting like very normal fans and taking pleasure in their failures.

 

Ok, just for you- with Gronk not even close to being at full strength. He was a shadow of himself, including the late critical play where the Giants LB outjumped him for an interception. The Pats probably would have won that game if Gronk was healthy.

I'm sorry, but if this doesn't bring a smile to your face, well...I just don't know what to say.

 

Gronk is always injured. That Super Bowl was exceptional; his normal self would have missed that game, which is probably why you assumed he did miss it. That's why I likened "if Gronk was healthy" with "if I won the lottery," because neither one is happening.
