I think the GCs were probably out as of the November bankruptcy filing. Gotta be careful where you buy folks GCs at in this climate. Outside of Target and Wal-Mart, I bought none this year.

 

Yep a $20 and a ~$40 left one. You can continue to use those cards until March when the liquidation ends.

The Circuit City nearby is surprisingly still in business. I go there often with price-matches on games. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for under $30 on its release date? Sweetest deal I've seen in gaming for a while.

They are not out. They received the court's permission to continue honoring gift cards until March. Unless Starbucks, Amazon, Best Buy, and Costco go out of business, I think I'm safe.

I got similar deals on SCIV collector's edition and Madden '09 anniversary edition off of Amazon ($30 and $40 respectively I think).

And then Toys 'R Us had a website screw up where the buy 2 get 1 free was actually buy 1 get 1. Those were my best deals recently.

That's good. Now I need to think hard about the last time I bought something online to pick up at the store and whether they gave me a $24 gift card I never bothered to use. Now would be the time (but I think the answer is no -- I used it already).

 

Circuit City (or at least my local store) is offering 30% off all mobiles/accessories, 20% CD's or DVD's (Blu-Ray excluded), and 10% everything not already on clearance or on sale.

 

Does anyone know if CC will honor their warranties. I bought a TV last yr and bought the extended warranty plan. I am having a hard time finding any info out on that.

Just an FYI, with future purchases you can probably find 3rd party warranties cheaper than what the big box stores offer that are just as good coverage-wise.

thanks i usually go with 3rd party - but CC was having a special, if i took their warranty which was only like 54 bucks on a 42 inch LCD 1080p, i could get a home entertainment system. So i did!

In a nutshell: Extended warranties are, indeed, managed by an outside vendor, and will be honored even after Circuit City has given up the ghost.

Also: Circuit City gift cards will be honored during the big liquidation sale. Once the sales are over, though, unused gift cards will be useless, so make sure to cash them in now.
