-- Rishard Matthews caught a touchdown pass from Tannehill during 11-on-11s.

-- Marcus Thigpen dropped a pass when he heard Nolan Carroll's footsteps. Thigpen had plenty of drops.

-- Will Davis deflected a pass during JV's 11-on-11s. He jumped the route.

-- Chandler Burden was working as the JV center and clearly needs work. He had a ridiculously high snap. Looked like a field goal.

-- Aaron Corp got sacked by rookie defensive tackle Chris Burnette.

-- Caleb Strugis missed a 47 yard field goal then made a 32-yarder, 48-yarder, and 49-yarder. No work during team session for Dan Carpenter.

-- Austin Spitler forced Matt Moore to throw the ball away during his second snap of 11-on-11.

-- Kelcie McCray intercepted a Matt Moore pass. Great safety play. He's clearly a sleeper.

-- Ryan Tannehill threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Dustin Keller, who was wide open. Tannehill said the play got called back. I didn't see the penalty.

-- On the next play H-back Charles Clay roasted Reshad Jones down the seam for a touchdown pass Tannehill ripped throw the secondary. Bold throw!

-- Rishard Matthews scored three touchdowns today. One on a deep ball and two in the red zone.

-- Kyle Miller caught two red zone passes that set up Cameron Marshall's touchdown run for the JV squad.

-- Armons Binns caught a jump ball touchdown on a QB scramble from Pat Devlin.

-- "We thought he was decisive in the way he plays the game," Philbin said of Dannell Ellerbe.

-- "He's a big guy. Catches the ball with his hands well. He's an intriguing prospect," Philbin said of new WR Courtney Gardner.

-- Because the defense got the best of the offense today Joe Philbin joked that "I'm a defensive coach today."

-- "He moves around like a football player," Philbin said of Kelcie McCray. "His play speed has been increasing. Some rust needs to come off."

-- "He's a real pro," Philbin said of Dustin Keller. "That's one thing that really was a pleasant surprise for the coaching staff."

-- Philbin said blitz pickup and route running will be the way the tailbacks are evaluating other than running the ball.

-- Philbin said he expects the RB competition to be fierce, but team hasn't gotten to the point they are rotating.

-- "Clearly we would like to practice a little faster," Philbin said of the practice pace.

-- "He's a good ball catcher. He catches the ball in his hands well and he went after the ball," Philbin said of Brandon Gibson.

-- "I like the way he plays. I always have," Joe Philbin said of Brent Grimes game.

-- Philbin said Brent Grimes "had excellent instincts and competitiveness....he plays bigger than his size."

    There's a hell of a lot more...

He needs to be the guy staying late, arriving early and his nose in the playbook at all times. The physical ability is unquestioned just a matter of if he has it in his heart.

I just bumped up your dose..

There are some awesome, and very funny pics in there, and some great body shots..If that's Lamar miller in that pic in the open field, that boy is ready to pound a rock..CHad Pennington rocking the old school logo, and scoping these dudes big time, I like that kinda party, don't let him leave without a contract Philbster.

Richie rocking the orange chrome visor, the orange people will love that, its cool

I too believe Dez may be finally "getting it" (cue an ESPN bottom line reading Bryant was arrested)..

As far as the heart for Gardener, I feel like he must commit himself 110% to make our roster. Does he love the game?? I'm sure, but some athletes have the desire to be great and some leave it to chance.

If I'm Gardener I'm stalking Ryan Tannehill day and night.

of course that's what you would do, I wonder what his reasoning is why he thinks of himself as a first rounder who didnt get drafted, if it's what you say that it's hard to think that he's learned this quickly in what to do f rom a work ethic dept, maybe this is where Philbin takes on a kid and flips his switch, or maybe he just wanted to party in Miami on his way out..lol

Yep, but Thiggy has to come through catching the ball, for him drops are deadly.

    He'll tighten it up.

Or maybe he sees going undrafted as a motivational tool, Atleast I hope he adopts that mentality. He certainly looks the part of a beast WR....will be one of the things I watch the closest in TC.

I hope so. I think we're fine at WR and RB but with Bess gone he may have to handle all of the punts, not just the ones where we have good field position.

Exactly, as big a fan of Thiggy as I am, reality says a guy who is shaky at times returning punts and had 1 carry last yr has to do more to make the team and be that guy who doesn't get a lot of touches but makes things happen when he does get the ball.

IE..catch the darn ball when it comes your way or you may be looking for work elsewhere.

He's got about 13 mins of YouTube stuff..his attitude after finish of the play is telling, he plays with a very high opinion of himself, superiority swagger, and after watching him run and cut, and how he goes horizontal a lot sometimes dodging defendersm that tells me he feels like he can do anything on the field against that competition so he just jukes around and runs like a back, schoolyard ball, of course he's going to need to stop a lot of that, and learn to go upfield ala Sammy Watkins, but I'd just like to see if he gets some inspiration to what you say, Wallace has some street cred, maybe Pennington gets him, and you know philbin sat down with him..it's all a mystery to me as to why kids with talent don't capitolize on their luck..maybe he needs a night out with Jim Turner..that dude sets ya strait man..

This is where a veteran WR comes in and takes a guy under his wing ala Chris Carter with Moss. Wallace has a lot on his plate learning a new system, expectations etc.

If the kid has a Chad Johnson type attitude the sky's the limit, T.O was once a raw project but he worked his *** off OFF the field...he just wanted $$ and attention. It CAN be done, but sadly more often than not these guys aren't willing to do what it takes to be a pro.

I'd like to be a very good defense, have a good consistent run game, be able to have all the backs be able to catch, use my athletic/accurate skillset to the max, with precise passes, create a moving pocket more than the norm, play a little bit of zone read, play good special teams, and I'm good.

Deej, this is why my eyes are focused on Thigpen, he is sort of the spark plug for ST's and not handling punts well is throwing sand into the machine, he simply must do better.

There is a reason all of the perceived leaders from last year have been jettisoned. There's a new sheriff in town and he runs a tight ship. This is how a culture is changed. Leaders of a losing team that think they have status are progress blockers. I'm up in the air because of the massive turnover, but very optimistic this staff will get it done.

To which Tannehill replies, "I didn't, Penny. That was half-strength..."

Pennington was a tremendous QB who lacked arm strength. That was his only negative. Guy was a great leader, intelligent, great read... just throw wobbly ducks.

We'd be lucky if Tannehill learned a thing or two from him about progression or short field accuracy

I stated last year that Bush's route running was poor, total free lancer, kinda like how he runs, and we know he can't pass block very well..we need north and south baby, patience, see it, and burst, you get in the open field break the ankles or the knees (what Thomas did to Revis) that's what we're looking for, and Miller/Thomas can be better at these things.

Which is weird to me... when did Penny become a WCO guy, much less one of Philbin and Sherman's "guys"? Also, hasn't Penny been like a QB coach for the stej? If he helped Sanchez be a better QB, can you imagine how bad Sanchez would have been otherwise?

Also his being here says what about Zack Taylor being the QB coach or whatever? I like Penny, but it just seems a bit odd.

I was listening to Joe Rose on the radio this morning on my way to the golf course. He was talking about how funny he thinks it is that anyone would take what happens in OTA's seriously. As he pointed out, these are players who should look great in shorts and tee shirts. They are professional athletes and therefore it would be unusual if they ALL didn't look great running around without anyone hitting them or putting pressure on them.

As a former NFL player, Rose pointed out that some of the best looking players in shorts and tee shirt looked terrible once the hitting started in preseason. It is nice that the players are showing up and getting in shape and learning the playbook, but like Rose, I'll wait to see how the players look once the hitting starts before I get excited about the players on this years roster.

No one takes them seriously. However OTA's are the best news we have right now.

OTA's are like a handjob while your woman is on her period. Just because it isn't as good as sex, doesn't mean you can't enjoy it.
