djphinfansubscriberOPNot sure if the mods are ok with this here in the mains, but it is our news right now, and why not have everyone involved and knowledgable about the best event of the year.
### North Dakota State offensive tackle Billy Turner, an under-the-radar offensive lineman who really intrigues the Dolphins, has been summoned to team headquarters today, and part of Thursday, to meet with Dolphins coaches and front office officials, according to a source.
He is the 17th player we've confirmed has been invited to visit the Dolphins; teams are allowed to bring in no more than 30 non-local players, plus an unlimited number of players who went to college or high school locally.
Turner is projected as a mid-round pick by NFL.com's Nolan Nawrocki, but his stock has risen and he easily could go on Day 2 of the three-day draft.
"Big-framed, raw, aggressive FCS standout who flashes a nice combination of foot quickness, punch strength and nastiness," Nawrocki said. "Smart, hard working, dependable."
It would not be surprising if the Dolphins draft two tackles.

Billy Turner is fun to watch..we need that nastiness..take him over Clabo in a heartbeat..don't have to spend a 1st either.

yeah me too and it would allow us to not be trapped to selecting a lineman that isn't worth the 19 th.

These people were saying we were trading up to the #3 spot last year for like 3 weeks leading up to the draft. They were assuming we were going after Lane Johnson last year, which obviously wasn't true. If not Matthews, who could it be? Evans? Ebron?
If that somehow turned out to be true, I could see Borland in the 2nd and Turner in the 3rd.

that's some fun speculation, hmm, Aaron Donald would be worth it but we'd have to trade Odrick.

I wouldn't risk waiting for the third round. I think his floor is early 3rd round. I would jump on him in the second round. To me his value to around there anyway.

To jump from 19 to 8 is 525 points; an early 2nd round pick. ASSUMING we pick 50 again next year (400pts), we have to make up the difference with this years 3rd rounder (185pts).
So we have to ask ourselves IF Jake Matthews falls to 8, is he worth forgoing this years 3rd round and next years 2nd round pick?

7th rounder is fine for me..I want football players who will bleed, leaders, people who will live at facility, I'm looking for a different breed, even if it's in the 7th, be brings value to me, he's a tough sob that's willing to play any position on the team..he's 6 feet tall 220, and will truck your ass if you come up on him, and he can throw the ball if need be..

adamprez2003forum_veteranI would be fine with a draft where we spent every single pick on an offensive lineman. If we have a good oline we will make the playoffs and since this isn't an exact science we should over pick the position to compensate for inevitable busts. Maybe grab a linebacker or two also but make sure you fix the oline first and foremost

If you listen to Philbin interviews and cutups of Shelley Smith they show on maimidolphins, he is exactly the prospect they are looking for, 6.5, 310 (has size and strength), athletic (nimble on fit) and plays through the whistle. After Lewan there are no OT prospect that fit better. Why wait, we need RT badly? Fox is stiff af, and so is Kuandjio and other available OTs.

I've always found this rule to be a little odd. It just seems like a leftover from the days before the NFL was a billion dollar industry.

well, they did lose a handful on defense and might lose even more over the next couple years, and Jeffy does have his strong suits when it comes to identifying defensive talent and late round gems.
