He's been insulted by the jets organization, he's 27 years old, coming off an acl, but when healthy, by far, the best corner in the game, imo top 3 defenders in the game..Coming off the injury, to a new team, you should be able to get a lowered contract figure.
If the jets are dangling him, what would you do to aquire him?.
We need a corner, and Smith wants his contract, whatta you think guys?

to expensive in any freakin way...
7000 biatches -
If the Jets outright released him, then sure, check him out. But trading for him? I don't see that happening.

He's going to get 11 mil plus a year minimum even after the injury, I think that's a bit much.
-
**** no. I'd much rather give OT Jason Smith a sniff.
-
And he was not disrespected by the Jets, he does this every year "I want my money, the Jets don't love me!"
I would not trade for him, it would cost to much in picks and money.Boik14 likes this. -
I think all of you are underestimating what this dude brings to the table..he should be paid #1 at his position...cause 2nd best is not close..
He said he was disrespected because no one notified him about putting out feelers..I agree with him on that. -
The importance of cornerbacks has been greatly exaggerated.
Revis is a great player, but the position itself is not one to over invest in.
It would be great if you drafted him or if you were a "one player away" team, but for a team like us to make him the top paid player on our team is a waste. -
There is nothing more important to defense then having enough ability to shut down a side of the field, I'm not just talking about shutting down their best receiver, this dude does more than that, he's absolutely the only corner in the league that makes me feel like it's not a waste to pay him as the best p,Ayer at his position.

You'd rather take a corner at 12 if you knew the jets would give him to you for that pick? -
I heard something along the lines of there being really stiff contract language that prevents him from even thinking about holding out.
If that's the case, I think the Jets are going to keep him another year. People act like a team HAS to get rid of him. I don't see why. Just like I thought everyone was out-thinking themselves when they speculated on just about every veteran or draft quarterback for Chip Kelly's offense EXCEPT Michael Vick. Errr, duh...Michael Vick, Chip Kelly, match made in heaven.
The relationship between the Jets and Revis is not so broken that they couldn't make it another year together, especially if the contract language basically makes it impossible for him to hold out.Alex13 likes this. -
He's leaving the Jets because he wants top 5 money, not top CB money, but top 5 money. Even if it was top 10 money, no CB is worth that kind of money, especially one coming off a major injury. If you're a contender, one-two players away and want to sacrifice your whole salary cap for years to come for a shot at a title, then break the bank on him and pray he's healthy. be crazy to sign or trade for him otherwise. With all these spread offenses, his impact is still significant, but not like it used to be.rafael likes this. -

You could see a close team like Green Bay, Houston or San Fran maybe exploring the option heavily. But the Jests would not trade him to us unless its a king's ransom, and we are not in position to afford a kings ransom for a corner right now.

I was listening to WFAN up hear in the NY area and they were discussing this. The common belief is that the penalty in the contract is pretty much unenforcable because the point of holding out is to force a new contract negotiations. So what would it matter if the old contract has a penalty for holding out as they would just drop any penalty in the negotiations. I do think that if he did hold out the penalty would allow the Jets to lower his cap hit but I don't think that was its intent. -
At this point, I think i'd prefer Ed Reed's old *** over Beavis Island.
