Actually, he could have a job as soon as Monday.
Safety Darren Sharper, we're told, is closing in on closing a deal. His destination isn't known, and it's unclear whether he has even made a tentative decision. But it's our understanding that he'll soon be making a selection from his pool of available suitors, whoever they may be.

We shall see if Tony is happy with the players we have at safety or not real soon. I just hope he is real sure if we are possibly going to lose out on Sharper.:yes:

Wouldn't going after Thomas look kind of stupid on their part?
And back on topic..... I'd deff take a gamble on Sharper and him being healthy.
A two year, front loaded deal would be sweetgunn34 likes this. -

Landing Sharper, or even possibly Atogwe, would truely solidify our defense. It's amazing to me, after how porous our defense was last year how bright it looks this year. Odrick, Langford, Merling, Starks, Dansby, Misi, Smith, Davis, Bell, Allen and more. We're looking a lot better this year than last.

Getting Sharper would be a dream come true for me...
I'm not too certain about Atogwe and whether or not he'll become available, at least to us. There isn't any connection to here, that I'm aware of for one thing and why would the troika sit and 'hope' that Atogwe becomes available and that we can woo him here with Sharper sitting there now and to be had ???
Seriously, I think his team of preference will be the Saints...I think they've had a wink-nod agreement all along... -
Ummm has he even visited us? Why is he even being considered an option for us? I'm asking cause I can't get the link up on my phone
-
I'd love it if he signed with Miami but I doubt that's his destination. I bet he just goes back to New Orleans.

If it is as soon as they suggest, I would imagine that the team will be the Saints. If he had a visit with Miami, don't we know that the media spies would have made an article or at least made mention of it?

We dont know where or when, but at some point, Darren Sharper is going to sign with a team soon.

The thing about adding Sharper here is that he instantly adds credibility to a young and coming secondary...on the other side of this, his signing makes it that much tougher on guys like Culver, Clemons and Jones...still, I don't normally want to sacrifice development for an aging vet, but this would be an exception...
-
Just seems like a lame attempt to force the saints to outbid themselves if you ask me.

Sharper can still be a good player for somebody and I wouldn't mind him signing with Miami, but... It looks like there would be some hint that Miami was interested in him, but not a word of him taking a visit or anything. Miami is good at keeping things close to the vest but I don't know if their that good.

I dont think we are in play unless you think Sparano is fibbing which we know is not out of the question .:wink2:
• Sparano wants ``to see what we have'' in Chris Clemons, Tyrone Culver and Reshad Jones at free safety -- one reason Miami has not pursued free agent Darren Sharper.

If forced to bet money one way or the other, I would say he's not coming to Miami.

Parcells MO: you will know after the fact
he's probably being fitted for a uniform
as I post these comments on the board
I strongly suspect he is a Miami Dolphin
don't see exposing our 'Achilles Heel' w/o
a proven, veteran commodity to start FS
evidently, we won't have to wait too much longer to know if that veteran is Sharper -
Honestly, I think he goes elsewhere, but man if we get him too... What an offseason... Nolan, Dansby, Marshall, Sharper, the solid draft, we could easily be a playoff team if things go our way.

The Jacksonville Jaguars stll think they have a good shot to sign veteran Pro Bowl safety Darren Sharper. In the opinion of general manager Gene Smith, Sharper's visit went very well.
It's believed Sharper could still re-sign with the New Orleans Saints. -

keep your fingers crossed Sharper falls our way:
18th Century limerick:
'for lack of a nail a shoe was lost;
for lack of a shoe a horse was lost;
for lack of a horse a battle was lost;
for lack of a battle the war was lost'
for lack of a FreeSafety etc. etc. etc. etc.
the :devil2: is in the details -
Apparently the Dolphins had no interest in Marshall either. Like 23rd said, with Parcells, we'll know after the fact whether or not there was an interest.
