Another idiot who thinks Henne's benching means we're giving up on him. I can't wait to see Henne back on the field, hopefully in Oakland. That dude is motivated.

not sure why anyone would have thought that Thigpen was our savior, especially with the injuries piling up. Thigpen is nothing more than a good backup QB.
As far as Kolb, I have seen no evidence that he's any better than Henne.ATVZ400 likes this. -
It's time to reconsider Henne and show some faith in the kid..
As evident by last nights game, the fact that Henne led us to 5-4 with this squad says more about Henne than many of us are willing to admit.Colorado Dolfan, CitizenSnips, FinFan_Est.1984 and 5 others like this. -

Nevermind all the reports that surfaced in the weeks prior to the benching from respected sources inside the league, but the actual guys who drafted him decided he wasn't the guy who should be leading this team for a playoff push.
Short of being cut, I cannot think of a more damning indictment for a young player.DolfanJake, jdang307 and gunn34 like this. -

In all fairness, I'm really starting to question the judgment of our FO and coaching staff anyway.gilv13, gunn34, Adam Strange and 1 other person like this. -

Doesn't there have to be a change with one of the parties? -
^Yeah, but if you don't have anyone better to replace him, what good does it do to bench a guy? If this staff thought Pennington was the answer, their drugs are WAY better than mine and slightly better than the 23rd's.
We should give Henne an extenstion after last night.
In baseball, they have adjusted stats to account for playing in bigger ballparks. We need to adjust Henne's stats for playing under this abortion of a coaching staff.muscle979, Pandarilla, Frumundah Finnatic and 5 others like this. -

I thought this thread was discussion regarding the team's confidence in Henne, and not necessarily the fan's perception of the situation.
These are two completely different things.
Call me crazy, but if Sparano and Ireland are still here next season, I just don't see how they could possibly in good faith bring Henne back as their starting QB. They've already given up on him. Maybe we as fans have not, but they most certainly have.. -
Jake Locker is more like Jake Joker. Have you seen some of the games he has had this year?
Now if we could get Ryan Mallett...that would be HUGE! -

I think it's funny how people are saying Henne would have done better then Thigpen. Henne is alot less mobile then Henne. He would have been sacked 12 times last night behind that terrible make shift line.Tin Indian and dirtywhiteboy like this. -

As for your sig... Harbaugh for 2011 HC, I've been hearing things around my area that if Michigan fires Rodriguez, they may chase him bigtime. -

I, too, have lost all confidence in Sparano. He needs to be sent packing this offseason.SICK likes this. -
But hey...we are a running team. That is who we are...WE WON'T CHANGE WHO WE ARE!
If I ever hear Tony say that crap again....
Well, just know it wouldn't be pretty. -
As far as the someone has to go thing. I agree, but not Sparano and not Henne. Dan Henning is the one who needs to go.djphinfan and MarinePhinFan like this. -
Its PR spin to make an ugly truth seem more tolerable. Lipstick on a pig, if you will. -

The issues go way past QB. Thigpen never stood a chance last night. It could have been Vick, Rivers, whomever, and the same thing would have happened with the attrocious gameplan they were given. I would rather have a new RT than a new QB at this point.

You saw the Bears last night. every player executed, did what he was supposed to, perfectly just about every time. That is what a team coached to discipline looks like. Discipline in practice brings consistency, and only then does talent come through. The head coach is supposed to bring it about through a regimen. Think Shula and how the players used to dread practice, but think of the results. His record tells the story.
Sparano simply doesn't know how. He needs to go somewhere as an assistant and learn how, because he learned nothing under Parcells, who is the ultimate culprit in this debacle. If this is how "Parcells guys" perform after three years, I want no part of them.
Henne is not the problem. Neither is Nolan, other than his failure to stress the fundamentals. What we are is an average team riddled by injuries. We need a system to take us to good, one step at a time. -
Would it have made a difference if Thigpen was the guy to start against the Titans rather than Pennington? Would that extra week of preparation to start have mattered last night? I understand that Pennington is a guy the coaching staff is comfortable with but what exactly do you prove by scoring more with a QB without a future? I did not say win games because even scoring an additional 4 points a week would not necessarily mean more wins. Then of course there was the injury question, which reared its ugly head on the first play of the Titans game. Was this decision to play it safe yet another tactical error made by Sparano? Has it cost the Dolphins more than just a game but an entire season?

Read the article early this a.m. That entire 10 point blog just absolutely NAILED it!
As I tweeted to Beradino, Parcells sure knows when to get out of a burning building just in the nick of time! lol!
Have to say, the season is over; and, we might as well have some fun with how ridiculous some of the things are with this rapidly becoming dysfunctional organization.
The OC has become a joke. That was as bad a called game in the NFL in a long time, injuries or no injuries. And, Thigpen, evidently, is partly to blame. Appears Sparano hung him out to dry a bit by saying some run calls were changed to passes.
But, Sparano needs to recognize responsibility here - not just the players. He's got to let Henning go, imo. I know the odds are slim and none it will happen during this season. Of course, Sparano himself may well be gone at the end of the year esp if they lose several games down the stretch - which is eminently possible given the competition - At Oakland, At the Jets, At the Pats. And the Browns (they will be no pushover - highly competitive with a great RB). All very tough games for this team.
I like the possible idea Beradino retweeted from someone this a.m.: of moving QB coach David Lee up to OC and trying to convince Chad Pennington to be QB coach! I think Pennington could be a great OC some day. But, if a good OC becomes available, that could change. Either way, I'm after Pennington (who most certainly should retire) to be a QB coach.
The one coach I would retain is Nolan. He's done quite well, imo, (in spite of some break downs) with some significant injuries (esp. on DL - Odrick & Merling), a weak ILB spot next to Dansby; very young OLB's; a big Q at one CB spot and major youth at one S spot. I think that the longer Nolan is here (he's a smart guy) the better this D will be as his system becomes second nature and they are able to expand it with greater experience within it. And, perhaps keep the young ST coach who seems to have done pretty decent in spite of injuries.
THe other thing is - if I'm Ross, someone has to tell Ireland that the incessant, week-to-week, bottom of the roster churning has to stop! It kills special teams and continuity. This team has no identity and continuity except on D where the lineup has been consistent.Last edited: Nov 19, 2010 -
Hyde is correct, except I don't know if Henne goes. I think it's much more likely that Sparano and Co. get the ax...except Mike Nolan. I think he has job security if he wants to stay.

I was at that disaster last night and the O-line was the worst I've seen it since 2007. It was a freakin' sieve. All night I was wondering why Henning was not having Thigpen roll out one way or another to by some time. There was no running lanes and there was even less pass protection. If the FO doesn't get the o-line healthy we are done. Jake Grove is still available and if he is healthy enough we need to resign him today.

regardless if Henne is our future we still need to address the QB position to avoid whats currently happening.
