As you can see, things are a little different.
Basically, we implemented a major upgrade to the forum's software. It is such a vast overhaul of the underlying code that nothing from the old version carries over.
There are a lot of functionalities from the 'old' forum that are not yet working. Most of them will come back, some of them won't. That said, we went into this with the objective of preserving the things we feel you all value most. Namely your Thanked posts, badges, reputation points.
The site's new 'skin' is also a work in progress. So bare with us.
We've got plenty to work on. But if you've been here any amount of time, you know we'll do just that.
Just hang in there. :)

Just a note about embedding videos. To embed YouTube and other videos, click the film icon

it looks strangely different around here. As a person, I don't like change. But its been a while since we refreshed around here, so looking forward to seeing what this "skin" is going to look like. Gonna take a while to get used to things around here, but as I've learned, even if at first I dont necessarily like it, change is usually a good thing. Nice job guys.

Attempted that in the "Sean Salisbury" thread in the main forum, and no link showed up at all, but I could directly paste the link into my post and the link itself would show up but not the typical youtube click the arrow to play video.

We realize that everyone isn't going to be happy. That's just the way of the world.
But this upgrade was going to happen at some point. Unfortunately circumstances dictated that we move quickly this time around.
I'm pleased to no end at just how quickly and smoothly Celtkin and I got this done. As I said earlier, the skin is a work in progress. We've done very little with it. This upgrade renders all previous skins and mods incompatible. So we are starting from scratch.
So hang in there. If you can't bare it....well I guess that's tough ****. :tongue:

Youtube, but I suspect it is my Browser, I'm using Opera and I think other guys are seeing the videos and I'm not, let me switch.

Well, logging on was a PITA. Some blank advertisement box was covering up the login portion of the screen (for me anyway). Otherwise, just a big time change that's gonna take some gettin' used to.

True. Folks, you have to realize that this version of our forum software was not just an upgrade; this new version was re-coded from the bottom up. The provider of our forum software no longer gives full support to the version that we previously had and, soon, we would have no support at all. We had to move.
There are bound to be hiccups and unforeseen problems but, in the long run, this is where we are now and will be for a while. -
What is your screen resolution? What browser and OS are you using?

Alright I switched to Chrome for the forum switch over and had the same problem as GMan mentioned, but I simply hit the larger window box and once the forum was on full screen there was no longer an issue.

No issues logging in here. Safari 5.0.2 on OS X, 1440x900 res.
Is there a highlight list of major changes in the new version? A lot of forums I go to are upgrading to this version of VB, but beyond the visual refresh and the YouTube tag, I’m not sure what all is different/worth upgrading for.
And I’d definitely like to bring back the ability to show/hide the subscription, infraction, and thanks panes in the user control panel.Boik14 likes this.
