Just wanna say, especially to BK, I know there were concerns about why Tannehill seems to get drop balls a lot..I can tell you that its coincidence imo..This guy throws a very catchable ball..and once again, those two incompletetions yesterday, were not his fault in any way...There is an arch on every throw..You can catch this guys passes then you don't belong in the league..The point of the football drops when it descends.

Reggie bush and Davone Bess are quicker this year, I keep looking at this guy running and he just looks a bit smaller than usual, everytime I get the number I'm suprised its bess.. He's dropped weight, and he's running quicker..better, noticably imo..Reggie speed is flashing everywhere, he's been working on his legs this camp, and his thigh pad level is high and tight.

Imo..this needs to be a serious comp..here's why..he def needs to work with the first team..
The only reason why you would have a vet start in this case, is for the experience, getting your players lined up, knowing the responsibilities of the offense and its components.. well, RT can do this, he's not thinking about what plays he's running at this point, or what his receivers are supposed to do, he knows that sh(8, he knows this offense, he's been in it for 4 years...Thats the definition of a vet..will he make some mistakes, sure..but if were gonna run twice as many plays he's also going to be able to execute that with better accuracy and a movable pocket..
You might say well, but he doesn't know how to read defenses, for which I will say, why not, when you've been in the same offense for 4 years, you know what play to go to depending on what the defense shows you...football is a simple game.
He's exponentially more talented..How bout that.
His size blows the comp away..
He's way more accurate..super accurate..
H'es way more mobile.
His arm is better, more velocity.
He's 24 years old..
He has command of this offense..He's telling everyone what to do y'all, no joke.
He's very smart
Players like him
He's cocky.
This is unprescedented territory for a rookie, in a good way..With the amount of play we could potentially run during a game, don't you want that accuracy and mobility executing the plays these plays with precision...cause he can do that..
I mean, if you wanna give Garrard or Moore their chance to see if we can get off to a fast start, ok,I can dig it, but that leash needs to be short, this kid needs to play ball, this isn't no ordinary rookie qb scenario, so it shouldn't require ordinary procedures.
well that was a fun camp guys, I like our future at the QB, he's very talented, and he seems like he's a good dude as well, someone that the city can identify with, and that makes me feel good, and worth the trip.
Peace..Lets beat the freakin texans, and do something man., shut all these clowns up.

The most important caution regarding Tannehill vs a veteran: speed and complexity of the game
He may know the offense, can read a defense, etc. etc. But can you process what's happening and what you're seeing when everything is moving twice as fast as you're used to? And can you decipher disguised defenses you've never seen before, manned by athletes two levels above anything you've faced?
That's where I would proceed with caution.
Still, great to hear him doing well!CashInFist, Disnardo, rafael and 1 other person like this. -

DJ, you have been designated to remain in Sou Fla for the entire training camp and give us your reports every day!!!
If it were up to you, right now today, who would you keep at WR on the 53 man roster? From 1st to 5th or 6th.
Good to hear that Clemons is back out there. -

BTW deej, have really enjoyed reading the reports especially trying to decipher the intials and vernaculars. :lol:djphinfan likes this. -
I think adjusting to the speed of the game at the NFL level can be directly correlated with not knowing the offense like the back of your hand..
The man is moving faster than his competition at the position, at least at this point.Themole likes this. -
I'll obviously w3ait until we have a pre-season game or two in the books to make a definitive statement, but it seems to me that unless Garrard or Moore are simply miles better than Tannehill then Tanny should be the starter.
As long as Tanny continues to improve, and we see good signs against better competition, both in practice and the pre-season, and it doesn't appear like he will get killed behind a poor o-line, then get him out there. No time like the present to start moving to the future.
I get all the arguments for starting Garrard or Moore, but it seems to me that the same reasons for starting those guys, like we have an easy schedule and might be able to win a few games, applies to Tanny as well. Better he get to play the Cardinals, Seahawks, Chiefs, Browns, etc. in his first year than Pittsburgh and Baltimore. -

Well, Bokamper think it's gonna be a competition. Bo says he hasn't seen enough from the vets to believe Ryan couldn't make it a competition.
Congemi summed it up well: "He looks like he belongs out there." Says Tannehill is throwing guys open. -
Good write up, I love reading what you have to say!! Man oh man do those reports about Tannehill make me feel good :)
I am starting to think Fuller makes the roster...Larry Little and djphinfan like this. -
Chad..He's lacking some strength as I suspected, but his quicks and his hands are there..I think he can get close to a thousand yards, and ive seen nothing but positive vibes from him and the team, hes a good player to have around.
Hartline..my patience is wearing thin for some reason on this player, I think it has something to do with his body and how I don't see it getting better, when it absolutely should.
Bess..I think your going to see a better, quicker Bess.
Lagadu/ Pruitt..This is the matchup imo that I need to see in games for sure..Its close Who I wouuld keep..
Jeff Fuller...No way Im letting go of this guy..and he won't last on a practice squad.
Wallace..I keep 6 because Im only gonna keep 3 tight ends.
Moore and Wallace have had a good battle in camp, Moore has been comin on strong, but, its a toss up at this point..
Put the rooks on the practice squad...I believe BJ has had some moments underneath, gettin open..MrClean likes this. -
Awesome read man. Thanks for all the effort!
Sorry to hear that they were on the far field for your last day of practice man... but great to hear about Tannehill. He definitely has all the talent in the world, and his comfort in the offense is very evident. The one thing I would say about starting him real early is... not only does he need to be ready to be the starter of this team, but the team also has to be ready for him to be the starter. And by that I mean, are the players around him good enough and playing at a high enough level to properly develop and support a rookie QB? That other factor shouldn't be overlooked IMO. The WR position alone does scare me a bit in that regard...djphinfan likes this. -

I also think in this style of offense it requires accuracy, and sometimes it won't matter what the hell the opponent is doing, their going to attack regardless sometimes, and THATS when I want this dude handling the football, he can be precise. -
-
In this case, I'm not sure if it'll work out that way, but an example of one way they could try and make it work out that way would be with the emphasis on the ground game and all the rollouts they plan on executing.UCF FINatic likes this. -
Basically all four guys in the booth today think -- based on his first two days -- Tannehill could actually win the job and not be shocked about it.
-
Probably tough to tell since they weren't in pads the first day, but what's the one thing you think Miami would need to improve upon the most in your estimation?
-
Hearing good things on Fuller. He is inconsistent at moments, but making plays frequently. I hope he continues.
