He's been great. We just need coaching now.
-
**** yes.

Who hired Tannenbaum? Maybe some of the people that voted in the other poll should be given the chance to change their vote. Hint, the guy that hired Mike Tannenbaum is also paying out of pocket for a small stadium upgrade.

Hey Aqua, ever gonna change that chambers sig?

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We are finally making moves and going all in. We are taking risk but also being smart about those risk. Hell getting Stills for what he got is impressive.

Since all the player transactions this off season have been made since Tannebaum became the head of football operations, I would have to say that I am extremely happy with him so far.
So far we have been getting rid of the dead weight on the team and replacing it with better talent. You can't ask for more than that from Tannebaum at this stage of the off season.Bpk likes this. -
I don't know how any of this all works out, but if you told me a week ago that we would:
1. Sign Suh
2. Sign Jordan Cameron
3. Sign a decent corner to replace Jimmy effing Wilson
4. Trade Dannell Ellerbe and the 78th overall pick for Kenny Stills
5. Cut Wheeler
6. Cut Hartline
7. Not overpay Clay and/or Odrick
... I would have said you were a nutty homer. So uhm, yes, I approve.dolfndav34, resnor and Bpk like this. -
The No vote has arrived! lol.

For some reason I thought Hickey was responsible. But someone reminded me Hickey didn't do this last year so... Yeah Tannehbam is doing great. I love aggressive FAgency esp for a couple good players.
It makes me even more excited for the draft seeing what we're doing in FA. FINS UP FOES down. This Dolphins will be dangerous next year if we have a good draft. If PhilBum doesn't screw it up some how in the games and game planning. -
He's basically erasing Jeff Ireland's 2013 free agency period. So....YES.

None of us really knows for sure what the internal FO process is......so giving all the credit for positive change to Mike while ignoring the others involved might just be erroneous.

What I still can't thru my head, is where Philbin fits in now ?? In a day and age where the NFL HC is the king of the organization, he's become an afterthought...
But I love the moves that he's made so far...now with another move pending....we could be seeing this organization finally get out of the cellar of organizations... -
I can just imagine how those conversations are going lol.
-
First off, that contract extension to Philbin is meaningless in practice. But one justification I do see for keeping Philbin for 1 more year is to prevent disruption to the systems that players are now familiar with. It took Tannehill 5 games before it looked like he was playing more comfortably in Lazor's system. You get a new head coach.. you can't tell him he has no authority to replace the OC and DC.
Now, if Philbin can't get us into the playoffs with what is now shaping up to be a playoff roster, then you can him. But good thing here is you get to see Lazor for one more year too, and if THAT pays off.. well, let him be head coach (or at least seriously consider it).Tannephins likes this. -
I have to think that Tannebaum is making these moves without any input from Philbin.
Suh,while a great player is certainly not the character type player Philbin prefers on his team.
Stills is said to have been availiable because he has some immaturity issues and Bree's wasn't crazy about him as one of his receivers.
I think without Tannebaum, Philbin would have been able to go to Hickey and tell him that he didn't want either of these players on the team.
With Tannebaum in charge, Philbin seems to be totally an afterthought at this time. To me, that makes the hiring of Tannebaum the best thing Ross had done since becoming majority owner of the Dolphins.Larryfinfan likes this. -

The bothersome thing to me, is we all (or at least we all should) know that Philbin is not a great HC... He's had the chances to 'will' his team to victories and simply didn't get the job done. We all think these moves make us a better team, but how is Phibo going to affect this upgrade in personnel... I'm concerned that as much as you need talent, you need a guy on the sidelines putting things together and keeping things together and Philbo simply doesn't seem to be that guy...
At least there should not be any excuses for him not getting the job done...cbrad likes this. -
when it comes to offenseive moves, i hope tannebaum is talking directly with lazor.
-
I'm not a Philbin fan by any means but no matter how you feel about him you still need the team to acquire talent.
With the talent they are pooling if they still can't make the playoffs the excuses are overmlb1399, resnor, Fin D and 1 other person like this. -
Totally agree, but at least with Tannenbaum, it seems like at the latest in a year, we'll have a good head coach (unless Philbin miraculously works out..).Larryfinfan likes this.

The past two years the Dolphins were in the playoff race until late in the season and then they simply went in the tank once the pressure of making the playoffs became more apparent.
While the players are responsible because they didn't make the plays on the field. Philbin and the coaching staff share the responsibility because they didn't seem to be able to prepare their team for these pressure games when the playoffs were right in front of them.
The Dolphins didn't have the overall talent to get past the first round of the playoffs the past two years, but they had the talent to be better than a 500 team the past two seasons. If the Dolphins had a quality HC the past two years, they would have been better than 500,IMO.
Philbin isn't called Coach Queasey for nothing. He has earned the name because of his questionable decisions when the game is on the line. -
Are you ever going to be funny?

Good coaches do things like that... They put guys in the right positions to make plays and win games...Phibo has not been able to do that with the guys we have. Can he do it with this new group ?? We'll see...but our talent to date, while not top notch, it hasn't been as bad as many on here think.... -
With how different this offseason is from any with Philbin here, I don't see how anyone can think it isn't largely driven by Tannebaum.
-
Call me when January rolls around if Miami is finally in the playoffs. But for now...YES. I like Hickey more though.
