29 players on the list. How many do you let go? this is where the salary cap hell comes into play.

I think we need to look at cutting Baker, Ogbah, Howard and Wilson. Then maybe they can restructure some bigger contracts. -

Would be nice to see a Dolphins roster salary chart and what is saved if cut... etcmlb1399 likes this. -
In short, with the projected cap increase next year, and those things happening, the Dolphins can be anywhere from $50 to $80 mil under the cap next year.Springveldt, texanphinatic and mlb1399 like this. -

Bye, Wilkins. Sieler is better and will emerge as a better leader.

Releasing Ogbah and Baker would free up nearly $24m in cap. With the projected cap increase of $16m that would pretty much put them at $0 cap space instead of that $40m over.
Cut X post June 1st will save over $14m. Restructure Ramsey, Tyreek, and Chubb and they’d save $50m.
There are other things they could do to save even more.Last edited: Jan 18, 2024 -
If he plays, the Dolphins need to restructure him. He’s owed $20m this next season if he plays. If he retires, we’d owe him more. If he’s released, we’d owe him more.MrClean and StaleTacos like this. -
2023 might have been the best this roster looks. Don't see how they field a better team needing this much and not having the cap space, and being so terrible at draft picks/trading them for costly veterans. Can't keep pushing out your problems with restructures. Chickens have come home to roost.

With all the rules surrounding the salary cap, the fact that a team is held accountable for a player’s salary if they retire is probably the dumbest. As long as the player is not forced to retire due to injury, the remaining money owed should not count against the team’s future cap.
Just my .02 -
I do agree, however, there should be a rule that when a player retires, even if guaranteed, it should not count against the cap.
The conundrum with Armstead is if he retires not only do we have to pay him, but that money can’t be used to pay someone else. Him playing is the best bet as long as he can stay healthy. Which isn’t going to happen.Fishhead likes this. -
As a rule, I don’t really worry about the cap because there seems to always be a way around it. Many teams over the years have been in “dire straights” cap wise only to come out OK in the end. -
They started their rebuild around at the same time we did and rebuilt their team way faster and better than we have. -
-
Their HC, most core players, and QB have been there going on seven seasons and they’ve underachieved in the playoffs considering they’ve been Super Bowl favorites for years, barely won the division this year (if not for Dolphins’ injuries they most likely don’t), and just fired their OC this season. The Dolphins have had Tua for 4 seasons (mainly under a defensive coach that hated him), but their HC and most of their other core players have been here for 2-4 years.Springveldt likes this. -

Bills at least have been contending for the superbowl 3 years in a row.dolphin25 likes this. -

Yet we want to sign Tua long term but not Wilkins. Only in Grier's head does that make sense.Last edited: Jan 18, 2024dolphin25, Sceeto and StaleTacos like this. -
We on the other hand are in year 5 of of the rebuild and have not even won a playoff game let alone contend for a superbowl.dolphin25 likes this. -
not getting into the rigamarole again BUT i do want to say Thank Christ Jake Bailey will be gone, holy **** he sucks and take Crossman with you

Sieler 63 tackles, 10 sacks, 1 FF, 1 INT, 1 TD
Sieler is much cheaper than Wilkins will be and just as effective. And, not a clown with his stupid late hits like Wilkins. -

If anyone deserves to be signed long term it's him.Last edited: Jan 19, 2024
