This was speculated before... but now the interest is official. The talks are said to be serious. Whatever that means :wink2:
I can't see us going after him and Wallace if Gibson is seeking money comparable to what Hartline received. So perhaps he is a plan B option in case Wallace doesn't happen.

If you remember the theory that this team does not need a No 1 WR ,perhaps all of the perceived interest in Wallace is a lot of hot air and that a WR like Brandon Gibson is Plan A.

That's a pretty sorry fallback plan for Wallace.
The only thing I'm intrigued about is, if we were to sign him to say..... 4/20 (he doesn't have any grounds for getting what Hartline did), then we have an extra $7 million or so that we wouldn't have before. Where does that go?Paul 13 likes this. -

I'm starting to get the sense that the Dolphins are looking to replace Davone Bess.

They better have something planned for a WR then because I like Gibson but he certainly is not better then a #4 or at best a #3 receiver. Rams have little to no WR and they would not let someone decent just walk.

Dont know how I would feel about WW returning to the Fins… Good player but just one of those guys that I have grown to hate...bigbucks24, PhinsRock, lohink and 5 others like this. -
I can't imagine any scenario where Gibson gets even close to 6 million a year. The last there seasons' yardage totals: 620, 432, 691.

We are going to be linked to every FA WR because we have a need and a lot of cap space. It is in the agents best interest to float reports that we are interested in their client to potentially drive urgency in any real suitors.
Most of these reports are completely fabricated.phinnhedd likes this. -

I think this is a plan B or C, or even complement signing to go along with Wallace, who it has also been reported that the Dolphins have been in contact with.Bpk likes this. -

With a guy like Ryan Swope available in the draft, I just don't see the point.

If you guys are right and the plan is indeed Welker and Gibson, I would mark down Tavon Austin in pen at 12 though.
-
Welker back on this team for a big contract? I'm not sure I could stomach it. I cant stand the guy, and I can't imagine him producing the same way as he did in NE.
Of course if he joins the Fins ill revisit my stance  -

why would they give Wes Welker 12 mil per season and not Wallace? Doesnt make sense to meFin-Omenal likes this. -

No problem w Gibson as a player but if he gets anywhere near $6 we drastically overpaid.

Honestly I think it's all going to be moot because I think they'll sign Wallace, but I do believe Austin will be plan B for finding a playmaker. -
I thought I read somewhere that Welker wanted 12 Mil… probably wrong on my part.. -
Drafting Austin in the first round would be a huge mistake. The guy is going to be out of the NFL within 3 to 4 years. there is no way a guy that size lasts in todays NFL. -
12 mil? LMAO if true. -

My guess is they are going to let the market play oout on Brandon Gibson and then if they want him, give him an offer equal to or a smidgeon greater then anyone else. I cannot see Wes Welker being in the same class as Mike Wallace. Like comparing snowballs and a heat gun.

I'm almost done with a thorough review of Gibson. Three games of coaches tape in the can, one game to go.
Short story short, I don't have much interest. In order to make me interested in him you would have to entice me with a very low, no-risk contract. He's not Legedu Naanee. But he's in many ways "just a guy" the same way Legedu was. -

Gibson is a fine WR #4
