Good to hear, he's a good long-snapper. Should probably say "extend".

Good choice. A good longsnapper and special teamer.Bpk and Silverphin like this. -
Okay..let's see it...
Show of hands..who's better? John Denney vs. Ed Perry? -
I don't know, both are/were one of the best in the league weren't they? Though iirc Perry did miss 2003 because of the infield.

Clearly this means Ireland is a great GM.

John Denney Is elite at his position for several different reasons, one, I can't remember a bad snap by the long snapper, two, he's more than that, he contributes big time on special teams downfield and actually makes plays because he tracks the ball and ball carrier instinctively, 3, he's in great shape and takes his body seriously..and finally, I can't ever remember talking about how perfect a long snapper is..

How's his "bubble"? :shifty: -

Actually I do recall Denney having a couple of high snaps to Fields on punt duty. Why am I thinking one of them happened against the Pats? It shouldn't be lost that this occurs moments after we release Carpenter. These specialists are a tight knit group. One could say Carpenter gave him a going away present ($) as he exited the franchise.

Either way, Denney has proven his worth over the years for sure. The man has been through it all. Good for him. -

Ed Perry
John Denney
Everyone else. -
The only bad snap I can remember of John Denney's was on the punt against New England at home last year. Other than that, he's been outstanding.
-
Well, glad to retain him, to me he is one of the pillars of ST, with Carpenter gone, and possibly Truz and Spitler on the roster bubble (imo) ST is in flux.
Football Outsiders claims ST is a 18% variable, over 16 games, that is 2 wins on avg, or as we saw last season, 2 losses. -

I think the thing about John Denney is that he is really good at getting down field. That's what I noticed when he first took over under Saban, and it seemed to tail off and now I don't know if Darren Rizzi made adjustments which allow him to be more aggressive in coverage than blocking or what?
I know nothing about special teams.
