Dolphins Signing QB TJ Yates

Why?

Doughty must not be ready to play in live action, which is disappointing.

Take it this is Pounceys roster spot.. Gase has a lot of faith in Steen for the run in, I would have liked to see another C signed instead as run game really struggling with Steen. Albeit I guess we do need cover for MM for this week at least.

Pretty damning of Doughty, especially considering how our coach supposedly is with QBs. I like his story and all but he's just not an NFL QB imo.

He probably just needs more time. I don't envision him being a starter but he should be able to become a decent backup option.

Maybe. I personally dont think so but you never know. You'd think he would have locked up 3rd string by now even with Tanny going down if the QB whisperer in Gase had even a little confidence in him.

Didnt he win a playoff game a few years ago? Decent pick up IMO

Marino....was Yates favorite player growing up. That is simply where the comparison stops lol.
He did however, win a playoff game with Houston. He's a capable game manager and nothing more.

Crazy that Doughty isn't being considered. It makes sense though. Yates has experience.

Guys keep it clean. If you start attacking other posters, there will be repercussions.

For a street FA on short notice going into week 15? Not a bad pickup at all, he's probably better than at least a handful of rostered QB's around the league.

I realize that is a personal attack on me, but I won't apologize for liking and supporting a QB that I've watched play hundreds of snaps and that went to my former school.

You shouldn't have to. Not sure why folks don't like some kid on our team that was a fan like us his entire life. Us signing Yates I don't think is a shot at BD, I think it's more along the lines of we're gearing for a playoff run in hostile environments and bad weather, and the last thing we want to do is ruin this kid by throwing him to the wolves in a very real possibility Moore goes down with another concussion.

I disagree. if this kid hasnt solidified himself as even the 3rd string for us after following the team all year and now losing that spot to someone off the street, it says quite a bit about how they feel about him imo.

signing makes sense.. if we were 5-8 this signing wont happen. But we cant throw Doughty into the fire when we have a shot at a playoff spot.

Hes been 3rd string all year, however in this scenario, you get someone with experience, not just nfl starting experience, but playoff experience, because you don't want to lay the season of the other men on this team on the shoulders of an UDFA. Gotta put the best people possible on the ground from here on out.

Is Tj Yates NOW better than BD now? Maybe. He has experience at least. Will he be better than BD in the future? Doubt it, the kid has upside. But you don't want to stall that upside or even ruin it by getting him shaken in situations he shouldn't be in at this time of his career. jmo
