The problem is he had 2 chances to come down with TD catches ... not just the last one (he had an easy one in the 1st half). Both were catchable balls ...
Fin Fan In Cali and steveincolorado like this. -
-
i've always compared him to Terry Glenn ... and still hold to that ... has speed, will be a nice complimentary WR - but will never be 'the' guy. he might even excel in a place like INDY with PM and a timing offense; but we need a guy that attacks the ball in the air, and that is not him. even next year with Henne, he will still have to go get it ...
-
Even though I ripped him after the game Monday, I still hope the kid does well. I still think he has a long way to go before he becomes a great WR, but right now he is just other average WR out there. I hope he grows a pair and be a man next time he has to fight for a ball.
-
Lets hope he continues to improve.
-
See I disagree with that. He WAS aggressive on the play. He went up in position to grab that ball but he just missed it. It's not like he stood there and waited for the ball to come to him. I would say all in all he that he does go up and attack the ball pretty commonly.
-
Its good he understands and holds himself accountable.
As mentioned, that will indeed add to his growth as a player and a person.
Something tells me that if he finds himself in a similar situation, he VERY aggresively goes after the ball.
I have said it before, I don't think he will ever be elite, but he is athletic and keeps impressing me with his attitude. If we ever get a top-tier WR across from him, he could become a very very key part of a championship team :up:steveincolorado and GridIronKing34 like this. -
His attitude of always trying to better himself should help himself long-term. I remember his first season, I think that's when it was, he was doing a pass catching drill by himself after dropping a pass.
If you want to bash the guy, feel free... but at least he wants to better himself. That's more than we can say about 3/4 of the league anyways...gafinfan, GISH, Colorado Dolfan and 2 others like this. -
Yeah yeah yeah, all that said he still aint Patrick Willis :tongue2:
-
I know this will move counter to the overall sentiment on so far "but"
I DESPISE this sort of reaction in a player, to me it lacks spirit/pride/confidence...
To me I'd be much happier if he had said "I catch that ball 9 out of 10 times" or "I had a great game, and then blew it for me and the team, I cannot wait until the next game to show what I can do and redeem myself"
His answer reminded me a bit too much of Gholston saying "what am I supposed to look like"?
strictly my .02 though, I prefer predictive confidence over promised remorse. -
Yeah that article was fluff.........however this one isn't:
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphins/content/sports/epaper/2009/09/23/a1c_george_0924.html -
how is one a fluff article when its just reporting on what was said?
-
He's got 14 games Jetssuck, to prove it either way, don't let the two drops completely obscure the fact Ginn had a good game against Indy.
-
Yeah instead of fluff, it's pure crap.
-
his responses and what was in that article were fluff....shoulda woulda coulda
I'm sorry but those two drops, especially the last one, do obscure the game he had.........his stats became irrelevant when he let the game slip thru his hands.
The guy has 4 TD's in 34 games.....anyone see anything these past couple of games that tells you to expect a big change? That stat line, regardless of catches and yardage, doesn't include any TD's. And the fact he had two solid chances, doesn't help his case at all. -
Fair enough, I do know he has 14 more games if he keeps averaging 110 a game the TD's will come.
At this point he is a lock for a 1,000 season -
Sorry but dude needs to get in the end zone......or we need to be resigned to the fact he's nothing more than a really fast possession WR.
-
so he says he should have caught it and will work on it and thats fluff?? far from a fluff piece. in fact its actual reporting as opposed to a commentary.Rocky Raccoon, Anonymous, cnc66 and 2 others like this.
-
yeah. you cant question his desire to get better. he is always getting better, and trying to do more.
p.s. i like your sig, but you spelled troy polamalu wrong. -
Ted Ginn will be alright going forward. He may not be that #1, go up and get it, guy, but he is still a good receiver. Without his catches to get us down the field all night, there wouldn't have been ANY chances at TDs.
I really think that the TDs will come too. -
I prefer the commentary.....rather than hearing someone state the obvious. Of course he's gonna say those things. What did you expect him to say?......"well I'm just not very good when there's contact invloved and as you may have noticed, I rarely score a TD"
-
Did you guys go to aquavision and watch tony's presser and the player interviews?
I don't know what else any of them could say or do.
Sometimes it seems they can't say anything to please the fans or the press.
Tony is clearly bent and so are the players
In CP's post game, he couldn't even answer the questions. Tony was pretty cold in his post game.
How many of us could stand in front of them, get asked the same dumb stuff and be expected to answer the "so called" right way? I know I couldn't.
And Ginn didn't look like he was making any excuses to me. He seemed to be just trying to be honest about his mistakes and wanting to fix them. As did coach & the other players.gafinfan, late again, Colorado Dolfan and 2 others like this. -
That's not right. He has 7 TD's in 34 games.
-
dude.. who are you trying to fool.. there is nothing he could have said that would make you happy.gafinfan, late again, Dol-Fan Dupree and 1 other person like this. -
-
Seriousely. Anything TGJ does isn't going to impress that guy. IMO, TGJ can still be that number one receiver. Our own Roddy White.
Oh, and I still stand by the fact that pass in the second quarter near the redzone wasn't catchable. It was overthrown. -
It's true though, Ginn dropped 2 TD's he caught 11 passes, 6 for first downs, one on 4th down, you gotta take the good with the bad and I see no point in destroying the player in the cool light of 3 days later.
Basically, Ginn isn't going anywhere, he will have another chance(s) -
Why would you laugh? I said Ginn should have caught it, but still consider it a bad pass given the timing and location.
-
Sure but as soon as he says that every person on here starts saying that he's full of it and its all BS and there's 'no way' he catches it 9 out of 10 times and no he didn't have a great game blah blah blah.
you can't convince haters with words, you have to do it on the field in football -
I think we will be seeing him laying out for some catches this week
-
Not true.....
1) From now on I will be donating my paycheck to JS
2) I will be returning kicks again and this time I will focus on the end zone rather than the safety of the sideline
3) I will no longer immediately mapquest the ground following a reception
4) Chad Pennington will no longer be used as as excuse for my lack of play making ability, truth be told, I'm just not that good.
Seriously tho, some of you act like I'm alone on the island with my opinion of this guy. I'm not........scour the news, espn and whatever sources are out there and you'll find it's you guys that are the minority concerning your defense of Ted Ginn.
In fact, I've been pretty kind compared to what's being said about him. -
Why would he say that when he's never made that excuse?
-
JS works......or Mr. Positive if u will
-
Receiving?
-
Then you are correct. It was just misleading (IMO) to say 4 in 34 is all, when that fails to account for 1/3rd of his offensive scores.
-
I was referring to you guys.........hey a guy can dream:lol:
Oh and btw.....another Teddy Ginn fun fact:
Did you know he might well be on record pace to set an all time low for YAC?
In 2 games he has 12 catches for 134 yds......ONE YARD OF YAC.....ONE
Ok so lets hear from the guys who say he doesn't hit the ground or head outta bounds instinctively to avoid contact. Because that ONE yard begs to differ...
