yeah i just heard it was 4.7 centered near the Lennox area.
EDIT: yea, now they're saying 5.0

see, in my completely un-geologically-informed mind, all these little shakers to me are just relieving the pressure, thus delaying the next big one. make any sense?

yeah it was right on top of you guys down there in LA... Inglewood/Lennox area. We had a 4.2 I think it was three Fridays ago out here in my area (Newbury Park)... and then the following Friday a quake in the 4's in the Ojai area. I was waiting for another one this passed Friday, looks like it was two days late  these little quakes are good though, they are our friends, relieving stress along faultlines... foreshocks?? Very rare... :shifty:

Pretty slim  I actually grew up in WV, went to Westlake High... got to "enjoy" the big Northridge quake back in 1994. I know someone who was "this close" to being pancaked in that apartment complex... she was staying with her friend who lived in the complex... had fallen asleep (probably drank too much that night), woke up around 2:30am and drove home, something told her she should do that, well lucky for her she did...

I'd rather not feel a quake of that magnitude again, but know it'll eventually happen.

Other than a bump on the noggin from a falling desk lamp, everything's fine here. I just hope someone locked the cabinets in lab because I'm not making a trip to come clean up. :pity:

I'm on to your subliminal messages. Your post backwards reads, "enoyreve efas yats", which is clearly Russian for "Bow before the almighty OPIE!!!"

Felt it earlier. I guess this one's close to the test center I'll be going to in less than 2 weeks. Must be a sign...

We've had a few very small earthquakes (like 2.5 or less type earthquakes) and I actually thought they were kind of fun, almost like one of those quarter slot massage chairs. :pointlol:

    Tokyo!
The latest tropical storm went east of Tokyo. I'm far enough inland that all the typhoons get their strength sapped by the terrain (mountains) before they really do much damage. I do expect a lot of rain and some flooding sometime this year.

We've got everything here: earthquakes, typhoons, volcanoes, floods, etc, etc, etc

saw some news clips of the earthquake damage.. 80 some injuries? which surprised me. If there is a cutting edge prepared place in the world, it would have to be Japan..
