According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald Elvis Dumervil's agent Marty magid said he would be interested in signing and playing for the Miami Dolphins. Is this a legitimate interest or just trying to stir up interest, since Miami has been one of the more active teams in Free Agency? Would he be a good signing or probably too expensive?

Get it done.

I'm not sure things would line up properly with Dumervil. He's not really an option as an every down defender, and he'd have to be priced correctly.
The market for edge rushers appears pretty depressed, some of the other guys still on the market might be better deals financially and in terms of roster building.oakelmpine, Tin Indian, Steve-Mo and 1 other person like this. -
What was the last big game we won?
I'm hopeful but scared. Buying a championship is not the way it has historically been done in the NFLTin Indian, oakelmpine, NolesNPhinsFan and 1 other person like this. -

I think when all is said and done, the Broncos and Dumervil will figure out a way to resolve their money issues and he will still be a Bronco when the 2013 season rolls around. -
Stupid comment of the day award goes to you.
If his price came down to that every team would meet with him. -
Unsure of fit, I think he plays same position as Wake.

I actually agree with Armando that we simply can't pay this guy more than Wake. Not on principle and not from a value standpoint.
He was minutes away from re-structuring at $8mil, and that will be the starting point in negotiations.ToddPhin likes this. -
Love his game...but no.
We have other needs and I don't like this sort of sense that we are Sam's for FA's. -

You play in a division with Tom Brady... Get to a second and 8 or third and long and Dumervil can come into pass rush situations and flat out end drives for Miami. Even if you draft Werner you can have Werner start at RE, Wake at LE, Dumervil as your third guy.
The Giants made it work why can't Miami? Hell the formula for beating N.E. was provided by those guys, so why not copy it if you have the chance?Da 'Fins likes this. -
Its only about the money if the players don't produce on the field. Most times in the past you would not see the type of gut we have in quality this year. Jeff has spent money to get younger and bring in speed where needed, we aren't talking bad apples for big money, I don't see one guy out of the whole group who will be a problem child.
They have played the money game to profection IMV and if handled properly, by bringing Wake on board and pointing out to him it makes the team better I could see Elvis with us this season. -
I think it would be pretty hard to spin signing Dumervil as anything other than a win IF you think you have an answer at LT. Losing Big Jake to get Elvis could hurt Tannehill's development.

I'm a firm believer that the term Dream Team does not ever apply to football. Signing Dumerville however, could give us a pass rush...the likes of which had carried teams to Superbowl victories. Strahan and Tuck's Giants, J Peezy's Steelers...If our front 7 stayed healthy down the stretch, and RT merely took the next step, it could be a devastating combo.
Or not. What the hell do I know.Fin D likes this. -
If the pass rush doesn't improve Tom Brady is going to tear this team apart until the day he retires.
How much money was left on Dumervil's contract? -
Dumervil's been a 3-4 OLB and a 4-3 DE, and generally speaking I think he's been a guy to follow the weak side of the formation. He's generally been pretty equally productive left or right.

Wake is our Tuck. Strahan was 37 when he won it all. -

TBH, we need more DT's who can push the pocket, so Usi would make more sense as he can line up inside or outside.
Unless Elvis is willing to sign for below market he just does not do what we really need imo. -
284 with 2 TDs is nothing to brag about. We've seen it on multiple occasions, the guy can get rattled by pressure.
If you've got an elite pass rusher on both ends, Odrick a very strong nickel DT, and Starks coming in from the nose you've got tremendous problems as a quarterback.
We've got Starks and Odrick to rush the quarterback and finding a pass rush DT in the later round isn't all that difficult. -
He is using us and this spending spree to drive his price up, he doesn't want to come here. He wants to stay in Denver with as much money as he can get, he is using us to get more.

Who says he'll get the 8m? It's about having the best offer. The Broncos already burnt 4.6m by cutting him, there's a good chance that Miami can get him for a lesser offer.

im sure ireland will low ball him.
