If we sign him...that says to me the organization is expecting a DEEP playoff run, possibly including AFCCG/SB.
Is that a reasonable assumption?CashInFist and Fin4Ever like this. -
Kill me now, before they let me down again.

Don't hold your breath. I don't sense a lot of mutual interest. I could be wrong but as much as we've talked about it for multiple years, probed at the possibility of him being in Miami, etc...we've almost never gotten a ping back on it.

Go get him Tannenbaum! Just the late off season addition we need. Would be nice to have an OG to put in work vs Richardson, Wilkerson, Williams, Dareus, Kyle Williams etc. This would be a GREAT fit!

If he tests the waters and finds nobody wants to pay him anything then yes I could see Miami making a jump into the fray. But otherwise...Agua likes this. -

I know next to nothing about Mathis' situation in Philly and why they released him. I know next to nothing about the Phins interest in him outside of the info here. My wishful thinking with Mathis is simply based upon us having three young, unreliable guys competing for two starting spots... and, now there's a veteran who has played at a high level just sitting in free agency.
The guy might be too expensive. He might be a headcase. I don't know. All I know is, I don't feel particularly confident about our current guard situation and signing Mathis would make me feel much better about the overall prospects for this football team. -
Preposterous!!!!!! Chip Kelly only releases the good black players!
Seriously though, go get him Hickey or Tannenbaum or whoever would indeed make said decision.Da 'Fins, Fin4Ever and P h i N s A N i T y like this. -

It would have to be a weird three year deal where his cap hit in 2016 is nil; because we already in deep deep cap hell come next offseason.

I dont care what it costs, get it done. Get Mathis in a Phins uniform. The OL has held this team, and this QB back for the last 2 years now, if not longer. The guard position is still unknown. Get him in here, ASAP. Then I'd say were good at every position but maybe LB to start the season. You can't complain about that.

For example, is it that improbable we'll be able to draft a replacement for both Jennings and Misi in 2016? Or to draft a replacement for exactly one of Albert, Wake or Grimes? I know we'll have to make decisions on guys like OV and Miller, but then again Jordan should be gone (helps a bit), the cap itself will be raised quite a bit in 2016, and we can "steal" from future caps if necessary for those future signings.
I'm thinking a draft on the same level as it looks like we've had the past 2 years (assuming first impressions aren't that far off), and Mathis looks possible.jason8er likes this. -

Obviously now there is zero cost to signing him excepth his salary , which may be structured quite differently now that he is released.
Suffice to say , IF Miami wants him , they can make a strong play for him .Fin4Ever likes this. -

THE ROCK IS ASSOCIATED WITH MIAMI (HURRICANES) AND HE ONCE TOOK A PICTURE WITH MATHIS. THIS IS INCONTROVERTIBLE PROOF MATHIS WANTS TO BE HERE.

mathis to me is suspicious..I know for a fact that the he hangs out with some folks who have done a cycle or two in their day, and he looks to me like he's done one or two himself...I don't care if we sign him or not, Id just assume find out what we got with our three draft picks..I'm sure Aponte has things under control..if theres money to be offered, then so be it.
