Armando Salguero saying he is under the impression that Pouncey will get an extension this offseason and then they will work on Tannehill, and its a ''foregone conclusion'' they will exercise his 5th year option (as we all know already) and they will be working on an extension and trying to get a deal done before the 2016 season.

As far as Ryan goes thats good buisness. Pouncey on the other hand? He needs to prove more imo before we go giving him an upper teir contract, no reason whatsoever to rush negotiations with him imo.

Heavily incentive laden contract for Tanny, which I think he will be happy w/. Pouncey? Depends on the deal. Incentive laden also.

While Pouncy's play at guard wasn't great he's a top tier Center and we can't be getting rid of any top tier lineman IMO.

Pouncey is tricky.
He has a number of question-marks - both his character and his willingness to stay in shape. He is a solid center.
I think the team needs to go one way or another with Pouncey this year. Either cut him (saving $7 M), or re-sign him and lower his cap this year. And, if you really believe in him, you hope you get a center for the long haul. -
hopefully they get tannehill's contract done before the 2015 season starts. this is our last chance at saving some bucks.

i think he's a top tier center too. he needs an extra 30 lbs to play guard though. he needs to stick to one position. you cant be great at both

You sign up both. Pouncey may well be a moron with question marks but you stuck with him after the bully stuff, he's a pro bowl centre, pay him and show the locker room that talent gets paid over all. Tannehill is our future at the position. Regardless of your opinion on his ceiling there isn't a better starting number 1 qb available to us this year. So build around him.

The failship sets sail again if we sign Tannehill to an extension.
QB's have it figured out by now in there career in todays NFL.
I'd re-sign pouncy to an incentive based contract. He's a good O-linemen, but a knucklehead. -
No issue with these moves if done the right way/
RT17, it's a tough call. 1. you can sign him to long-term extension and he could regress and end up like SF/Cin/Chi are dealing with in their QB's. 2. You can pick up option and he has a stellar year and increases his price tag that much further.
My plan, would be to pick up his option and hopefully he keeps progressing and we pay the man his money. Folks he is our QB for now and future.
Pouncey, I feel like by signing him would create more cap room for this offseason, and I am all for that. I am also all for keeping him on the OL as he is a leader no matter what B.S. reports you hear and what not. I want a nasty guy up front who supports the offense and that is him. With him and Albert we have two leaders upfront to tutor the younger guys in James and Turner and hopefully we can add another stud OG to round out the unit. Moving Pouncey back to his natural center and having him healthy for a full offseason will pay divideds.PhinFan1968 likes this. -
I think I'm in the minority, but I wouldn't mind if they let Pouncey walk. I thought he played terrible at RG this year, and he probably wants $7+ million per year. Pouncey may redeem himself in 2016, but I think that's too much for him and I'd push for a short term contract (which he would likely reject).

I'm willing to give Pouncey a pass on any of the so called "character issues". Yeah the Hernandez thing was dumb as rocks, but aside from that i've seen nothing too alarming. In interviews he seems like a smart dude, and he can play his *** off, so as long as he doesn't demand ridiculous money, give the man an extension.

He was a pro-bowl center and had the hip issue. Moved to guard after coming back (not fully healthy) because they couldn't find anybody who wasn't a turn style. He struggled in a position he hadn't played or practiced at in years. Seemed to get it together as he got more reps at the position. Put him back at center where there were ZERO issues with him. I couldn't give a rats *** that he wore a free Hernandez hat. So the F what - it's his friend. Sometimes we stand by our friends when they get into some crap that maybe in hindsight we shouldn't. That makes him a questionable character??? Lets open up ANOTHER HUGE hole on the offensive line because you know we have so much depth that we should get rid of a pro bowl center. I'm confused.

I really don't see a need to sign either one of them to a new contract at this time.
Everyone assumes Pouncey will be the same player he was, once he is moved back to center. While that may end up being true, the fact is that he was just a mediocre player last year and perhaps they should wait and see how he plays next year before deciding to give him a new contract.
Tannehill is under contract for the 2015 season and the Dolphins have the option for the 2016 season. While he has shown improvement each season, the reality is that the Dolphins have a sub 500 record during his three years as the teams starting QB.
I think they could have had a similar record with Matt Moore as the starter the past three years. I think they should just opt to pick up the option for 2016 and wait and see how Tannehill continues to develop before signing him to a high dollar, long term contract.
There will be plenty of time to sign Tannehill to a new contract if he takes that next step up in his development. If on the other hand his play reaches a plateau and he doesn't continue to show progress in his development. The next head coach will probably not want to be burdened with a QB who is taking up a lot of the cap space, while he will probably be searching for Tannehill's replacement.dolphin25 likes this. -

Anyone cheaper to own then tannehill until someone comes around worth drafting. -
-
The marker to me is he was great at center on the Dolphins and the league considers him a top tier center and we can't lose top tier lineman as short as we are now. -
