With Richie Incognito you know what to expect - a big physical linemen with an attitude. No one discovered that better than Lionel Dotson on a first hand basis.
After several reps of playing against each other Incognito wrestled Dotson to the turf in a personal war of words and fists. Although the scuffle was quickly broken up the message was clear. This years OL is not going to tolerate any funny business.
Let the word go forth to defensive linemen everywhere. This will be the biggest, nastiest and most physical OL in the league. (and I just love it!)

I'm calling it now...multiple Incognito penalties will call back some nice sized Ricky/Ronnie runs

Incognito is not just a tough guy IMO. He's an A-hole. He's got some wild temper issues, going back to his college days.

As long as he doesn't hold/clip anyone or allow pressure, he's alright with me. He's the guy who will take some unlucky LB by his dreads and pound on his head.:shifty:

Ok we are what 8 days into camp and this guy has already been in 3 "fights". I really like the fire and enthusiasm, but if this isn't throwing warning flags up in your mind, you're just not thinking. He has a history of this type of behavior on the field and it costing his team. Don't get me wrong I like Icognito and I am not banging on him but in addition to his "enthusiasm" he has to play smart too.

This is an angry guy on the field.
But this stuff happens. You're practicing against the same guys every day and there's no break. No game where you beat on another group of guys. It gets redundant and guys get itchy.
It's certainly noteworthy that it's the same guy every time. But I'm not ready to label it just yet.felly smarts, Bpk and RickyBobby like this. -

One fight means nothing. I doubt you've played football if you think other wise. In high school I got into plenty of fights in practice and never once in a game

He's already proven in his past that he's willing to get penalties during a game and cost his team.
We'll just have to wait and see if he can do more good than he can do bad. -
Does anyone know if Incognito's penalties were unprovoked or did they occurred against a DL that was constantly holding or attacking OLs knees? -
Skirmishes all around the league. Just read Darnell Dockett from the Cardinals has been in 4 already. His coach, Wizenhunt seems to love it as long as no one gets injured. Hot weather all over the map this year. Dockett made all pro by being a bad azzz.

Nebraska, Oregon, the Rams and the Bills did not all get rid of a guy who everyone agrees has talent and ability without a lot of good reasons.djphinfan, Shamboubou, gafinfan and 1 other person like this. -
I was there today and calling it a fight seems like a stretch to me. A couple of pushes and shouting but I wouldn't call it a fight.

He is a hot head for sure. Hopefully Sparano can contain his mental lapses during the season.

hmm, after his first fight in camp i got criticized by another poster for saying that he could cause us uneccesary penalties this season....seems the trend is continuing. I honestly really hope its just a practice thing with him this season but im not sure that may be the case.
-
Well conisdering that he is a nutcase it shouldnt be a suprise.

He has to temper that, and the hope is Coach can facilitate that , and channel that aggression positively.
Fine line , but the upside is appealing and I am wanting to see where this goes before easily falling into it is what it was mode. -

OH and back to the thread, where was Mr Incognito (to you mooks) when Rodney the dirtiest MFer in the NFL was playing us twice a yr. Him and his buddy Seymore Butts. Woulda lovred an azzkicker like that on the team then. Closest we got to that now is Ronnie Brown, calling out DBs who take cheap shots. -
In high school me and my center used to absolutely hate each other in practice. We would go out of our way to cheap shot each other. But when we won our games we probably were the first 2 to high five each other. We were that intense during practice. And it definitely carried over to the game on Friday Nights. In the NFL these guys are together all the time. There isn't any breaks. They eat, sleep, watch films, team meetings and two-a-days together. Not too mention that it's hotter than 2 rats f**king in a wool sock out there. 1000 coaches hollering and screaming all the time. I couldn't imagine my head coach times 25. I love the intensity and will expect great things from those guys on game day.

I'm interested in seeing who the starting guards will be:
1) will they give rookie (Jerry) a shot? looks like everything up until now indicates it
2) will Incognito or Thomas win out & what will be the configuration left & right.
3) need to make a initial determination soon.
4) long-jerry-grove-incognito-carey? or long-incognito-grove-thomas-carey? or whatever???
5) the offensive line needs time to learn coverage & get into sync as a unit -

Sometimes "spirited, independent" children , players need the right parent or coach. If they believe in the bond strong enough , there can be the positive change that takes those attributes from a minus to a plus.
I am not saying it will automatically happen , however I do emphatically believe Tony Sparano has a better connection with him than previous co aches.
Players with that type of energy can do an awful lot of great things if they know 100% that their coach is behind them 1000% . There becomes a need to please that overides some, many of prior negatives.
Now I don't know if Incognito has genuine medical , psychological challenges , but from how Sparano is enamoured with him and how players want to follow Coach I want to see how this unfolds.
As mentioned , Ron Heller was a NASTY SOB , pure nasty , and he was an overall plus for Miami imo , that is what I envision and am crossing my fingers for. -
I'm hoping he can change his ways, but you really have to wonder / worry about a guy that teams with the talent pool of the Rams and Bills decided they were better off without.
-
I heard Ron Artest can play TE
